Is Trnava a city worth visiting? I will be quite close to it, so could head there for a day's visit in a couple of weeks, but will not do so if it's not worth it

It's quite a surprising score against someone as limited (in comparison to other pro player of course) like Lopez Jaen.

But on the other hand - I believe that Granollers had a really inflated ranking in 2008 and that he is not a Top50 player. I saw him live in Warsaw in two matches - vs Monaco and doubles (w. Ventura) vs Fyrst / Matk.

In both matches he played like he even didn't want to try, he has awkward baseline technique (it looks like he was learning tennis by himself) and he is generally very bad to watch. He has good serve and net play though.

I didn't like his behaviour on the court as well. He wasn't crazy like Crazy Dani neither he wasn't killing rackets like Safin. But he was really not focused. He was talking with Ventura when Fyrstenberg was serving, he was talking to some girl when he was at the net and Ventura was serving. During changeovers he was laughing his ass off with Ventura, even if they were losing.

The match with Monaco was similar - bad technique, bad approach. Monaco didn't play anything special and three balls in a rally were enough for Granollers to make an error. It looked like tennis is a boring thing for him, so I don't know why he is playing so much.

Sorry for the fans, but my opinion is that Granollers must be one of the worst Top50 players in the beautiful history of this sport and I won't support him for sure.

I actually really enjoy watching Marcel play. Yes, I think Top 50 is inflated, but he deserves to be in the Top 100 for sure. I think he just has hit a rocky period in his career, but he'll be back up there again soon. This loss against Lopez Jaen is pretty bad, I agree, but I would say Lopez Jaen's (only?) talent is that he can play very solidly, and anyone with an off-day is sure to self-destruct against him. Lopez Jaen pretty much plays like a wall.

Marcel has a very awkward technique at first glance, but if you look closer you will see that it's quite effective. I think his attitude is the main problem. I've seen him behave like an absolute dick on court (to the point that he was swearing so loudly and hitting the boardings so hard that he even scared me  :p). In doubles, however, I've only been extremely impressed by him. At Wimbledon, he and Santi played pretty much some of the best tennis that I saw in nearly two weeks (one week of qualies, one week MD). They completely demolished Bopanna/Qureshi, who are a good team and especially on grass. Of course, at Wimbledon, players are all focused. Yes, they were laughing, they were visibly enjoying themselves, but never did they lose focus. Ventura is known for his rather uhm peculiar attitude in some less important tournaments, so I'm not all that surprised that things were different in Warsaw.

Yeah,I have the same thoughts about him.I've seen Marcel in Poznan when he lost first round match against Prodon despite that he has *4-1 lead in third set.

It seems like no matter for him if he play well or not.And in last game at *4-5 he won't to fight and lost that serve in unlike pro player style.

Sorry for the fans indeed but he had absolutely zero "fighting spirit factors" when started to losing games one after another.

You know, Olejniczak is quite a limited player, especially from the baseline. He was Top200 for some hmm...one, two months or something. And he is 25 already, so he won't do much damage. So I can imagine that qualifying for Wimby was a dream come true and now beating Hernych on clay (who is much better baseliner) is also a great achievement.

He now plays Pablo Santos, so he isn't chanceless here. Both have more or less the same ranking, both are more or less in the same age. Santos must be a better claycourter, but Hernych was much better claycourter. And maybe the win over Santos will give Olej a Top200 spot once more.

Santos is a typical clay-courter, he barely plays any tournament outside clay. He's a hard worker and is enjoying the best year of his career.

BTW I saw Godlewski in Warsaw vs Mertinak and I really liked him. He is of course half-amateur, but he was really friendly and easy-going and had some support from his crew, which was also very well-mannered.

not going to lie, i need Rochus to complete a parlay in tennis at my book i wager with, for a guy that is 0-1 on circuit in Clay, Godlewski looking ok, but i knew Rochus would have problems after having played an Indoor Hard tournament last week
ouch, I feel for you then... what can I say.. I doubt Godlewski is prepared enough for this match, I guess Rochus will pull it through in the end but so far Rochus is kinda .... uhh

What a day for Polish tennis  Olejniczak won, Kubot won (despite both being underdogs) and Godlewski leads Rochus 1-0. Must be some record. BTW I saw Godlewski in Warsaw vs Mertinak and I really liked him. He is of course half-amateur, but he was really friendly and easy-going and had some support from his crew, which was also very well-mannered.

I think that he must be one of the worst "pros" in Poland, but if he didn't start his career - he could easily be the best amateur in the country :)

yeah I like him very much as a person, along with Matka/Fryta he's probably the nicest Polish guy among tennis players... he also had a very pretty and well-mannered gf... not sure if they're still togehter

He's never had money/sponsor, never really had a chance to start a decent career... he was even retired for some time but he decided to play some small events in Poland or neighbour countries, just for pleasure. He studies tourism & recreation.
