Hi i have been using a Head Flexpoint Instinct for the last 2 years and have decided i need a change. I am 15 and i have a rating of 9.1. I have a medium power forehand a backhand and hit lots of spin but my serve is not the best.

I have a few rackets in mind...

Wilson Nblade Mp

Technifbre T fight 295

Head Microgel Radical Mp

Head Microgel Extreme

Babolat Pure Storm

[/LIST]

I am mainly thinking about the Tecnifibre 295, atm there is a good deal on tennis nuts http://www.tennisnuts.com/ishop/677/shopscr5017.html
Sorry there is alot, hope you can help, i am open to suggestions !
Thanks in advance :)

Sorry if the post has gone wrong this is my 1st post.

Just to add another racket into the equation ... :) Yonex RDS 001

if you are going to change, you should change to something more advanced. i would instantly rule out the microgel extreme as it is too similar to what you are already using.

the tfight, radical and storm are all 98sq inch head and 295g, the blade is a bit heavier so might be a better option.

the 001 is a fair bit heavier and i would say you should stick to the slightly lighter frames which you will find a bit more helpful with power

So which one would you say out of the Tfight, Radical, storm and Nblade ?

i think the prestige would be a bit beyond you.

the dunlop aerogel 500 tour is quite a good racket in my opinion, but i still dont think you should consider it as it is too similar to what you are currently using

form the sound of it you need spmething with a bit more power i.e aero pro drive or aero storm (300g) head microgel that sort of 300g weight

Fenz

What do you think off the Wilson Npro Staff, Wilson N six one team or Yonex RDX 500. I have decided i need a lot stiffer racket than my flexpoint as i just cant seem to get the power i need with my flexpoint even though im hitting the ball pretty hard ! Help !

xcarbon storms from bab
wilson have always been stiff but lacked feel in my opinon

So you say Babolat Pure Storm ?

gaz
07-06-2008, 08:34 PM
yeah or if you need the bigger head size the aero storm 300g or 320g if you can handle the weight

but i would recomend the lighter one fo ryou personally

Should i get the Babolat Pure Storm or Babolat Pure Storm Tour ? as the tour is cheaper

you would be better off with the storm, the storm tour is probably too heavy for you

Right... I have tried the Babolat Pure Storm and Head microgel Radical. I found the Head way way to powerful and just didnt like the babolat at all :S
I am now deciding between the Wilson Nblade and Yonex RDS 001 mid or midplus. I cant find any of them in my local tennis shop to demo, but i have played with the Nblade once before and found it to be a stable decent racket.
Can anyone tell me about the Yonex RDS 001 mid or midplus as i have read lots of reviews and according to the reviewers would suit my style of play ( agressive baseline play ).
Thanks in advance again ! :D

from what you have described of your game there is no way you should even consider the rds 001 mid and i think the midplus is still too heavy for you

Hmmm ok so would the Wilson Nblade be a better choice or what about the Dunlop Aerogel 200 ?

I am now mainly thinking about the Tecnifibre 295, it has a good head size a decent weight any of you ever played with a technifibre racket, also should i have it strung at a hight tension or low tension ? atm there is a good deal on tennis nuts http://www.tennisnuts.com/ishop/677/shopscr5017.html

*Update* I have brought a Dunlop Aerogel 200 16x19 string pattern. I chose this as i was trying to decide between the Aerogel 200 18x20 and the Aerogel 300 i looked at the specs and found this racket had a weight that was in the middle of the 200 and 300. i have brought one off Millet Sports, does anyone know how long it will take to come ?

Grrrrr ! Millet Sports just sent me an email saying that they are having stock problems with dunlop and so they cannot complete my order ! So that means i have to choose a different racket as all Dunlops are out of stock now (even though it says they are all in stock on the website ! )
Anyway i need your help again :worship: Which racket should i go for ? Are Prince O3 Tours any good ?
Thanks again !

Would the Head Microgel Extreme Pro be good for me ?

jazar
07-18-2008, 08:41 PM
the microgel extreme pro would be much better for you than the aerogel 200.

if you are considering prince the best one would be the speedport black or speedport white pro

dont get a prestige, specially not a flexpoint because know matter what you say and think about flexpoints, everyone who knows anything about racket knows they are shit.

if you are going to change the nblade would be a good step up. just remember though, if you get the nblade and find you like it, stock up on it because the kblade plays differently

Tzar

TBE i don't like neither the N or K blade

for the way you described your game i highly recommend a Babolat Pure Drive or a Microgel Extreme

So you think it would be a better idea to get the Nblade and not change my Instinct around, would adding lead tape and changing strings make alot of difference ?

I have tried the Babolat Pure Drive Cortex Standard and thought it was a very nice racket just too powerful but it looked like it was strung quite loose ? if i had one strung at 60 would it be any better ?
Also tried the APDC and didnt like it at all.
Friend has a Microgel Extreme thought it was ok oddly shaped head :S

the nblade is a much nicer racket than the instinct, so i would just buy one.

if you were to simply alter your instinct with lead tape, don't do it yourself; take it to someone who knows what they are doing

I dont think the shape of the head should matter :p

If you string the PD with the right tension it works perfectly, it depends also on how hard you hit. If you hit really hard you should use then 62 Kgs in tension maybe? It would be good since it will add speed to your strokes. The Microgel Extreme for me is really similar to the PD even though its lighter and less powerful maybe? but great feel of the ball.

Now, please don't buy the N Blade :p. I really don't like Wilson, especially this racquet, is to thin and for same reason stiff to me.

no offence, but you're not the expert on rackets; i am. and just because you dont like the nblade (which is actually a very flexible racket), doesnt mean fenz won't. i, for example, hate the pure drive and most prince rackets but it doesnt prevent me from selling them to people.

i think the nblade is a better racket and will help you improve as a player. the pure drive is too similar to your current racket

Pure Drive all the way.

You'll gain speed without sacrificing control. :)

As i said for ME Nblade is stiff. maybe it will help you out. but if i were you i'd go with the PDC

Who says you're an expert on racquets? Now dude what an asshole you're. I'm free to give my opinion if i want to. And the N or K blade is a racket i'd recommed to nobody. i really hate Prince and Wilsons :o except the [K]Tour (wich is a great option too )

i would say i'm an expert because i work for a leading racket sports specialist and have sold more than £100,000 worth of racket sports equipment. i am also a certified master racket technician and if i remember correctly, i advised you on what racket to buy
