Yeah, my home tournament is coming closer ! When I watch the Entry List, I can say, that there are great players for a small challenger tournament like Freudenstadt.

Okay, we should wait until the US Open qualies are over, but I think with about 8 to 10players under the Top 200 it will be fun to watch.
Moreover, there are players like Coutelot, Norman and Armando who always can be a highlight in each tournament. I´m looking forward to it.

I see that they have also Tkalec 6-2 7-6 (6) but actually Greul won with that score so also this website is not so reliable.

Now they've corrected the result and Greul won 6-2 7-6(6) so I think Meffert won cause his result is still the same.

So, back from the tournament.

Vliegen and Ramirez Hidalgo went into the second round. Vliegen had a difficult first set, but in the second set he played great with an easy 6-2.

Ramirez and Sidorenko had a fantastic first set, unfortunately the Frenchman had to retire in the second.

Now the "jokes" of the day.

First was Mannarino against Sanchez de Luna. Maybe he wants to be a new McEnroe, his behaviour on court was ridiculous. Highlight was as he shot a ball against a linesman. For me, he should be punished hard, but he only got a warning. Fortunately, he lost the match.

The second was Nicolas Coutelot. He lost against Schukin 3-6, 0-6. After an early 2-0 lead, he stopped playing. I don´t know why, maybe he was too lazy, but for a player, who wants to be "professional", this is a disgusting thing. Why travelling to Germany for "refusing performance"?

This were my impressions.

Wow, surprised to hear Adrian behaved like that. Never saw him like that before.

Coutelot, on the other hand, is known to pull off stunts like that. So much for starting to take tennis more seriously :tape:

Thiemo :(

Thiemo is a great talent, I was surprised how he played. And with only 19 years, he still has time. He had his chances against Brands, but in the third set he was tired and made too many unforced errors.
For me, he has more talent than Brands. Brands is a "boom boom player" with a great service but not much more.

I was disappointed about Coutelot. He started well and then, having his own service, he suddenly played three stopps in a row. Two of them didn´t even reach the net. WHY?
Then he started to say some "nasty words" and got a warning. He was pretty close to a second warning.
But okay, he is now over 30 years old and some people will never learn...it would be better for him to be a tennis trainer somewhere near the beach :)
So he could earn much more money...

P.S.: I have taken some photos of Vliegen, Coutelot and other players. If you are interested, please send me a message.

Of course such players have a certain attraction because some spectators wait for such "outburts" and find it entertaining, but I think there are limits and hitting the linesman with a ball goes too wide.
Besides that, I think that Mannarino´s style of playing is nothing special.

If Saretta can stay without injuries, he should come back under the Top 100. I was really impressed today.

Now, finally I have some time for a final report.

The final between Greul and Bachinger wasn´t anything special. Bachinger was not able to keep his performance of the days before, Greul played solid, which was enough.
Simon won the "big points", Matthias made too many unforced errors.
In the end a solid win by Greul, but I do have my doubts that he can repeat this success during the next tournaments. Let´s wait.

I enjoyed visiting this tournaments. The weather was fantastic. From Monday to Sunday always sunshine.
Unfortunately, the two best players of the tournament, Rochus and Vliegen had to fight against injuries. Witout an injury of Vliegen, he should have won the tournament. Nevertheless, it was luck, that such two strong players took part in Freudenstadt.

It was of course very positive, that the German players Bachinger and Greul took the opportunity to take points for the ranking.

The negative things? Not many. I was disappointed about Mannarino (shooting a ball against the linesman), Coutelot (for non-professional behaviour) und Ramirez Hidalgo (for poor performance).

Altogether, it was again a pleasure to watch some matches. I wish I could have seen more. I´m still looking forward to come back next year.:wavey:
