Vorbericht

Hallo Dustin!

(mer)
so spielen sie:
1. Dustin Brown (Jamaika) Nummer 455 der Weltrangliste, 2. Stefan Seifert (Deutschland) 524, 3. Gaston-Arturo Grimolizzi (Argentinien) 568, 4. Marius Zay (Deutschland) 576, 5. Daniel Stöhr (Deutschland) 662, 6. Bastian Knittel (Deutschland) 691, 7. Holger Fischer (Deutschland) 707, 8. David Klier (Deutschland) 724, 9. Oscar Sabate-Bretos (Spanien) 810, 10. Thomas Schöck (Deutschland) 822

Jamaican at TC Römerberg

Currently is going on in Wimbledon the biggest and most important tennis tournament. Wimbledon belongs to London like Siedlung to Speyer or Berghausen to Römerberg. One reason why the tournament in Wimbledon is so famous, because it is played on grass. Who wins in Wimbledon is the biggest of all and will never be forgotten.

Here the tennis players play mostly on clay. You surely know that. From 7th July on there will be a big competition, the Römerberg open near the indoor swimming pool. Last year Dustin Brown won. He is really a funny guy, you really have to have a look at him. He has very long black pigtails, wears a bandana and a colored shirt. Dustin is from the island Jamaica. I would like to spend my holidays there. But if I wanted to swim there, dear Lord, that would take months, far away as it is.

Indeed Dustin is only the 455th best player in the world. But do you know how many million people play tennis? Then Rank 455 is very good, and when Dustin plays good, he can also win against one of the really big ones. But there are also many other strong players, also from Germany. Some of them already come for years to Römerberg. Players from all over the world want to play here. Who wants to play there needs to be within the best 1000 players of the world. I add you, who are the best ten players in Römerberg, where they are from and which Ranking they have on the world’s Ranking.

1. Dustin Brown (Jamaica) Number 455 of the Ranking, 2. Stefan Seifert (Germany) 524, 3. Gaston-Arturo Grimolizzi (Argentina) 568, 4. Marius Zay (Germany) 576, 5. Daniel Stöhr (Germany) 662, 6. Bastian Knittel (Germany) 691, 7. Holger Fischer (Germany) 707, 8. David Klier (Germany) 724, 9. Oscar Sabate-Bretos (Spain) 810, 10. Thomas Schöck (Germany) 822

That is the translation of the article Edu posted. :)

Not that I promised to write a little report about Römerberg, but I thought it would be interesting. :)

On Monday I arrived at the location at about noon. At that time the remaining matches of the second quali round were already played, so I only saw the matches of the final round. The #1 seed of the qualis, Bas van der Valk, obviously played quite bad in the second round, so that the officials of the hosting club weren't really delighted. (In the 2. Bundesliga vd Valk is playing for TC Römerberg.) I was happy that Kevin Deden managed to qualify. :) One of the most interesting matches I saw on Monday was the match between Vedran Siljegovic and Tom Dennhardt. The Croat was constantly lamenting how bad he was playing and later he also started to throw his racket. At one point I told him to calm down, otherwise he would pay. It didn't really help, some minutes late he got his warning. :tape: Dennhardt was complaining about himself, he always played backhand crosscourt-rallies which ended at the forehand of Siljegovic. "I always play to his forehand!" The spectators of the tournament were happy as the local player Julian Gast was able to qualify. The only thing I wasn't happy about on Monday was that Dustin was scheduled to play his first round match on Tuesday. I wasn't able to go to the tournament on Tuesday

On Wednesday I arrived for the first matches of the day. When Kevin Deden had won the first set, Sabate Bretos and Thiemann were still at the result of 2-1 (don't ask me who was leading, there were zillions of deuces and ads in the match.) Seifert struggled in the first set, although he somehow won it. Klein was leading already 5-3 and still managed to lose the set. After the match was finished, he said himself, he shouldn't have lost the first set. Later that day there was the match between Fucsovics and Simpson. If you like to follow baby guns, Marton Fucsovics is definitely one to follow. Born in February 1992, he managed to earn his first ranking point already in his second Future-tournament he played. He has already a quite strong forehand and, in my personal opinion, he should be able to get some more points quite soon. :) Siljegovic behaved yesterday much better than on Monday.... well I think he didn't want to pay twice. :p But again the spectators were happy that Julian Gast and after that Jerome Becker qualified for the next round as both of them play for the local club. :) Dustin played his doubles match with Stefan Seifert, and I had the impression he didn't really want to play. He played bad, complained about everything and nothing, the court was bad etc etc.

Edu, sorry I don't write about Lustyk and Vogeli, but they played on the court that was the farthest away. I could have had a closer look on the match, but to be honest the matches on the nearer courts are easier to follow. :)
