Wimbledon R1: Gasquet trounces Fish 6-3, 6-4, 6-2

Didn't see much of the match but it seems Gasquet was playing very well. That stats do look good. Don't think he's going to come close to defending all of his points from last year though.

Playing well at Wimbledon again, I see - and again after all the talk of him faltering.

Yes I think the talk about Gasquet faltering was premature considering that last year he lost to Qureshi in Nottingham before doing well at Wimbledon, and he did show signs of good form in Queen's (or at least not a lack of confidence).

Good match from Gasquet, there were a lot of winners coming off of his racquet today. Fish didn't play badly at all but was just outplayed.

Gorgeous stuff from Richie - pure pleasure to watch. Every now and then he reminds us how fabulous he could be.

People shouldn't expect much of Gasquet. If he manages to pass the third round, then build some hype on him.

He has a kind of similar draw than last year with easy rounds against probably French players afterwards. Then eventually Murray in the 4th. I hope ther'll be a 1/4 Gasquet Nadal!

He played well. Didn't expect him to be approaching "Roddick form" in this tournament again.

Haha what a mug this Fish is. And people seriously thought this was to be a tough match. All the American commentators and journalists thought the Fish would take this. Idiots. Fish already had his one good tournament for the year.

Gasquet was very impressive, i dont get all your negativity..last year he played just as bad during the buildup and reached the semis.

This is nice by Gasquet but he has many points to defend.

Caught some highlights of this match last night, Gasquet was incredible. That guy has so much talent, I don't understand why he does not do better through the course of the year. He was ripping winners from everywhere and some of the backhands were insane.

He went on a run like this last year, I remember against Roddick he was simply immense. He just never seems to keep good consistent runs of form going, but against Fish yesterday it was fantastic shotmaking, a joy to watch.
