Anyone from the UK care to give us some info?
Nando VS Ivo- Indoors Or Outdoors?Iván 06-21-2008, 02:29 PM Anyone from the UK care to give us some info? Carino 06-21-2008, 02:36 PM At the minute, according to the Nottingham website, the doubles Final is being played indoors because of heavy rain this morning and I've just heard from my hubby (who's just about to leave Liverpool) that it's raining there right now. So it's not really looking hopeful that the Nando/Ivo Final will be played outdoors on the grass. Iván 06-21-2008, 02:37 PM Thanks Carino Carino 06-21-2008, 02:39 PM Yep, just your typical summer grass court tennis weather. Looking really hopeful for Wimbledon again, ain't it!! michellej 06-21-2008, 02:42 PM The doubles is happening right now. 6/6 3/3 Who's Nando? or is that some nickname...only in the UK. I guess it's better than Fern..or Verd. Or Asco. michellej 06-21-2008, 02:45 PM Doubles is done...Betfair says stand-by for streaming but they've said that for a while. Serve big for a change, Ivo. LOL scoobs 06-21-2008, 02:45 PM The covers are off in Nottingham Doubles final was played indoors but the singles final should be played outdoors if the rain holds off. Carino 06-21-2008, 02:48 PM That's good news. Thanks for the update, Scoobs Horatio Caine 06-21-2008, 02:55 PM Glad I chose to avoid attending the final as I had done for the preceding 5 years. Looks like it is starting outside, but it wouldn't be a surprise if it has to be completed indoors. Good luck to the spectators, and hopefully neither player will sustain an injury. michellej 06-21-2008, 03:12 PM Start on grass and end up indoors? That is bizaare. Anything happening? Maybe thet're setting up cameras indoors for the networks/betting sites? ASP0315 06-21-2008, 03:14 PM look like it will be on indoors which will be even more good news for karlovic. michellej 06-21-2008, 03:16 PM Their names aren't up on the scoreboard yet..hurry up, it's sunny here and I want to go out. scoobs 06-21-2008, 03:21 PM It's raining again so play will start indoors in 10 minutes. michellej 06-21-2008, 03:25 PM Showing the indoors court...looks like a court in your city owned tennis facility, which I'm sure it is. I don't see any place for fans...Oh my...what a preparation for Wimbledon. Don't think they had this tournament very well thought out LOL see for yourself. http://www.justin.tv/federer1 croat123 06-21-2008, 03:27 PM oh wow i feel like they should be requried to at least play on grass :o michellej 06-21-2008, 03:27 PM when they hit a ball wide...it's going ot go waaaay wide on one side. Monteque 06-21-2008, 03:28 PM Anyone from the UK care to give us some info? england, scotland, wales, or N.ireland? croat123 06-21-2008, 03:30 PM if i didn't see it right in front of me, i wouldn't beleive it :tape: michellej 06-21-2008, 03:30 PM I think ivo is too big for those tiny chairs LOL Rogieva 06-21-2008, 03:32 PM They are playing outside michellej 06-21-2008, 03:35 PM They are playing outside No indoors. Bilbo 06-21-2008, 03:35 PM i think nottingham is too north located for a grass tournament michellej 06-21-2008, 03:37 PM some fans are still sitting on centre court...fans are also looking through th e windows of the tennis centre to see if they can see any of the match. What a fiasco! michellej 06-21-2008, 03:40 PM On Ivo's shirt is a badge that says 6'10 LOL Ivo. Believe it or not. His wife Alsi is sitting watching..very pretty, exotic looking, very petite. One would have thought so. platinum 06-21-2008, 04:28 PM What a joke. ReturnWinner 06-21-2008, 04:30 PM at least you can play a match when raining contraty to shittledon or most tournaments. Deathless Mortal 06-21-2008, 04:36 PM Funny indeed. Good thing Ivo leads though :)¸ MrChopin 06-21-2008, 04:41 PM at least you can play a match when raining contraty to shittledon or most tournaments. Never mind surface integrity; they aren't going to finish this one. The club pro is due any minute for his Saturday afternoon volley clinic. Johnny Groove 06-21-2008, 04:46 PM Where you guys watching this? 365? Albop 06-21-2008, 04:48 PM betfair Deathless Mortal 06-21-2008, 04:48 PM yes, bet365 has a stream MrChopin 06-21-2008, 04:49 PM Where you guys watching this? 365? Aenea 06-21-2008, 05:01 PM It was the same last year, QF and SF were played at the same indoor venue with no spectators. No wonder then Karlovic won his first "grass" court title. Manon 06-21-2008, 05:15 PM No wonder then Karlovic won his first "grass" court title. Hmm...we must wait. penzias 06-21-2008, 05:16 PM Hmm...we must wait. He won Nott last year. shotgun 06-21-2008, 05:21 PM Never mind surface integrity; they aren't going to finish this one. The club pro is due any minute for his Saturday afternoon volley clinic. :haha: :haha: Seriously, I don't understand why they don't build a synthetic grass court in this facility. It's not that expensive (in fact, it's probably cheaper than any other kind of surface) and at least it would keep surface integrity. Joke of a tournament indeed. scoobs 06-21-2008, 05:33 PM Last year in Nottingham and a good thing too - the weather this time of year is just too uncertain. Not much better on the south coast, but it is slightly better. Horatio Caine 06-21-2008, 06:36 PM Geez some of you lot...what exactly did you expect to happen? The organisers to build a giant canvas roof over the centre court? The final got played, which was the main thing...and you were even lucky enough to see it. Surely there is at least one event on the calendar that doesn't have back-up facilities if the weather turns sour? PinkFeatherBoa 06-21-2008, 06:47 PM I'm so glad I didn't make the trip up this year! Sucks for those that were there though! MrExcel 06-22-2008, 10:50 AM The same thing happened for the 1997 final when Rusedski won. Thing is all the ATP stats go down as if the match was played on grass... | |
