Here is Murray's section of the draw. He's in Nadal's quarter of the draw.

[8] Gasquet vs Fish
Grosjean vs Starace
Anderson vs Calleri
[Q] Olejniczak vs [28] Simon
[23] Robredo vs Vliegen
Canas vs Haas
[WC] Malisse vs Gremelmayr
Santoro vs [12] Murray

From that draw, a potential early round match against Haas stands out. Looks like Canas has picked up his form this week though so maybe he won't make it to the 2nd round.

Winnable section. He could get to the 4th round with any luck.

Good luck Andy!

I think Andy's fully capable of a quarter-final finish here, Gasquet isn't his greatest self at the moment, and I think the biggest threat could be either Santoro in the 1st round or Haas in the third.

06-22-2008, 07:29 PM
I don't think Santoro will cause much difficulty (unless Andy comes out unable to get a first serve in!), but I agree Haas could be a problem. He has also had trouble with Gasquet in the past, but Richard seems to have a few problems at the moment, so I'm really hoping for at least a quarter final here.

There is a lot of injured'y/unfit type of players in Muzza's draw

but knowing him he'll still find a way to possibly mess it up - or one of those players will put in a inspired display ala Tsonga

anyway, QF will be Nadal and he'd go no further

but we'll take a QF here

Hopefully Gasquet won't find his form. I think Murray has a chance against Nadal.

I think Murray has a chance against Nadal.Nope

he is too much in awe of Rafa, not tough enough

maybe in a few years from now he'll 'lose that admiration' and then maybe ...

Murray B Santoro 6-3 6-4 7-6

now Xavier Malisse

who like Federer, i missed his young days with the pony tail

GO Muzza!!

Murray d. Malisse 6-4 6-2 6-2 :woohoo:

Nicely done, Andy.

Now beat Haas (more difficult, almost certainly)

so far so good

2 more wins please Andy

I'm worried about the Haas match

But that might be good, because usually (unless Andy is playing Nadal or Nole) I expect he will win, and I have been very disappointed this year.

It gets really hard from here on in the tournament.

I'm not really sure what to expect in this Haas match, I wouldn't be surprised with whatever happens.

06-28-2008, 06:08 PM
he won in four set 6-4 6-7 6-3 6-2 :woohoo:

07-01-2008, 02:18 AM
Wow, it's quiet here given Andy's performance today

Really looking forward to the Nadal match now :yeah:

Tough luck for Murray. Nadal was just too good. Great results to reach his first grand slam quarter-final, and in front of his home crowd. This is only the start, it will get better.

07-03-2008, 08:30 AM
He was never gonna beat Nadal anyway. It's just good that he's now got a GS QF under his belt. Hopefully he will break into the top 10 on Monday.

He got further than most of the top 10 apart from the obvious 2.

9th in the World - 8th in the Race. It's cool.

07-15-2008, 07:02 PM
I think Andy did well in the Tournament. He got defeated by the player that won the Tournament. So there is no shame in that ;)

07-16-2008, 01:45 AM
He needs to improve though, a lot. Hopefully next year we will see a new Andy. Now for the hard courts :hearts:.

I think he has improved already :) But you are right I think he will even get better ;) Even the commentators at Wimbledon were talking about the fact that he has gotten rid of what they called his "Moping Murray" image. Personally I never thought that was Andy's image, but you know how commentators are
