Janko wanted to play here - but seems he forgot to sign in  He then decided to ask for a Wild Card but they had already all been allocated, so decided to enter quallies for some extra grass match practice. I have friends there watching him today while I am at Queens watching Nole :) I love it when there is tennis in the UK :)

Janko beat Ratiwatana, but has just lost the first set to Samuel Groth (#304) 6:7(0)

Janko lost 6:7(0) 4:6

 My friend was at the match. She said Groth was serving phenomenally well- "like playing against Ivo Karlovic" were her words  She said Janko had little or no chance to ever break his serve, so it was inevitable that the pressure of this would eventually lead him to lose his own service  She spoke with Janko though and said he was very sweet :hearts:

Thank you :)

No worries:) She said that Groth is just one of these big-serving players (like Wayne Arthurs for example), who really have nothing but their serve, but, sometimes, on a fast grass court, that can be enough  Nottingham courts are quite fast (remember Karlovic won it last year?), and it was also hot there today which makes the grass faster,- so results like this are bound to happen.

Maybe Janko will team up with someone to play doubles?

Btw - this is Janko at Queens yesterday leaving to head off to Nottingham - photo taken by the lovely Adam :hearts: And yes I know it should be in the Picture Thread, but it just seemed to fit in with the subject matter here :o

No work for you after 1410 tomorrow ;)

Well I'll do my best :) But I want to see Nole play there this week as well - and I can't leave early every day  If Janko doesn't start til 4.00pm I can leave at 3.55pm though - looks a bit more respectable

Btw - where did you see the OOP? I just checked the Boodles site and it's not on there  Thans for posting anyway:hug:

Worlds worst web site

I Rang Ace Group Directly

OK - fair enough - thanks :) I take it Nole isn't playing tomorrow? When I spoke to him at Queens, he said he thought it would be Wednesday:)

And I agree - for an organisation with so much money - their website sucks

Murray vs Tipsarevic
Nalbandian vs Ginepri
Gulbis vs Lopez

Play on Tuesday

Do you think Djokovic needs to play any more matches after Queens??

Thanks. Well personally I think he needs a rest and shouldn't play at all this week - just stick to practice  I was at all his matches at Queens last week, and he was pretty tired by the end of the week. But of course it's not my decision :) He certainly seemed keen to play there when I spoke with him about it on Friday (quarter finals day) :) Obviously I realise he could have changed his mind after the Final but I think he will play at least one match -possibly an exhibition as opposed to the main draw thing:)

Janko lost to Murray  It was a close match - score was 5-7, 6-3, 10-12. He played OK - but I am not really a fan of Exhibition tennis - the result doesn't really matter and there is no intensity or excitement for me. Still - it was nice to see Janko again - he looks mighty fine:)

What is that exhibition like? Is he out now- knockout system like in normal tournaments, or he'll play someone else...

Have fun when you go again

Thanks  The Exhibition is in a round robin format (like Kooyong), so everyone in the main draw is guaranteed three matches. However, Janko was not in the main competition line-up. He just came to play one "extra" match against Andy Murray, because Murray asked the organisers if he could play just one "unofficial" match yesterday (not related to the competition) to see how his injury was progressing, and because Janko was already out of Nottingham and had played there before, they asked him if he would come and play against him.

So as far as I know at this stage, he isn't lined up to play any more matches, though he may well come to use the courts for practice as they're good courts and lots of WTA players and doubles' specialists like The Bryan Brothers do this. They also usually have one "extra" match each day - sometimes a doubles' match, or sometimes involving players against TV personalities/celebrities, - so he may be involved in one of those, or if any of the "main draw" players like Nole or David Nalbandian withdraw for any reason he may be asked to fill in. Usually at The Boodles, a lot of people withdraw after a couple of matches, because if they even get the slightest knock or injury they want to protect it for Wimbledon. Hope that helped.

I am hoping to go after work today, but at the moment it is :rain: and forecast to do so all day, so I doubt there will be any play  They certainly won't push the players to play in damp weather or on slippery courts so close to Wimbledon. I'll know more later on.

Just for a couple of days :) I don't like it so much to be honest so I won't go every day.
