According to BBC Sport, as Tsonga withdrew from Nottingham tournament, Paulo will be the top seed in that event.

Top seed out of Nottingham Open

Top seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has been forced to pull out of the Nottingham Open because of injury.

The Australian Open finalist withdrew from the current French Open because of a knee injury, and has now had an operation, report BBC Radio Nottingham.

It leaves fellow Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu as the top seed for the Nottingham event, the last ever to be held after 14 years in the city.

The tournament takes place at the Nottingham Tennis Centre from 16 June.

BBC Radio Nottingham's sports team will bring you full-commentary from centre court for the duration of the event.

The coverage will be available online, at bbc.co.uk/nottingham.

Oh you remember me !!! The crazy girl who named her cat after Paulo.... :cat::rolls:well he's fine, actually we never call him Paulo ( but it's still his official name, the one he has on his papers )we call him " Pitou" or " le Pitou" ( don't ask me how it went to that point I'm clueless). I'll post some new pictures ( and others news) in the dedicated thread...because I'm afraid I'm going off topic...:o Anyway very nice from you to ask about him, he's till the cutiest cat on earth :worship:

About that match we were talking about...you're right that's he one with the TBs, as I said I was checking points with my cellphones and so I was experiencing the livescores while actually watching another match in the same tournament ( knowing I could have just gone to centre court to watch it) Needless to say given the score in the last TB I was a bit nervous....hum. But I love Bercy !!! Great atmosphere, accessibility and you get to see what you want to see bc you can acess all the courts with one tickets( unless you're like me and you ant to mess up you're brain...)

Hey I call my cat " my baby" too...:D but for a sec I thought you wanted to call your son Paulo  not a bad name but...
About Bercy...don't get me started about the atmosphere.... I just looooooooooove it, first tourny I ever got to in 2004 and I will always remember the crowd ( this one was with Monfils).
I have a vivid memory of a match between Paulo and Davide Sanguinetti in 2005 ( my 2nd Bercy), which reached highs with the atmosphere. The tennis was not so good but the scenario of the match was just perfect ( three sets, comeback and victory of the frenchie etc...) to get the crowd hysterical:bounce: The most beautiful part of it is that, at the end he thanked the public spontanously ( eg without the crappy but usual question " So good public today, bla bla bla") He basically took the mike and said " Merci " That's why we go to tournaments ! He added he wouldn't have won if it wasn't for the home crowd. It may sounds corny, but it felt so good ! Just a " Merci", you could sooooo feel the love !
The funny thing is that the day after the same thing happened with Clément vs Kiefer and then Santoro vs Nieminen, close matches with a french win and the players thanking the crowd and saying they would'nt have won if they had'nt played in Bercy.

I love that your cat is called Paulo, marafline. That's so sweet and I adore cats like I do Paulo, so it's a great combination.
I agree about Bercy, I've been to many tournaments and that one is still my favourite. Such a great atmosphere, especially for the home players. So many memorable matches from there, not always quality tennis but great uplifting matches!

As for Paulo's match today, I didn't see it but I can't say I expected him to beat "MR Queens" Hewitt. That he lost his lead in the 1st set wasn't great though. I did see him hit with Gulbis before the match and then later after he finished practicing almost bumped into him in the tunnel and so he said "ça va?" and I wished him well for the match. Sigh, no more "stalking" Paulo at Queens anymore, onwards to Nottingham. His 1st singles match was certainly interesting anyway- at one point in the 2nd set he called himself idiot/dumb (in French obviously) and in the game where he served for the match he made 3 UEs and said a million "f***"'s. He was a lot more sweet in the doubles with Marat though.

Bercy is " le tournoi de mon coeur" as I like to say. Too bad it had been deserted by the top players, but last year we saw Fed and Nadal eventually. The only one really motivated to go are the French players :o
Lucky you, Paulo's stalker ! He's such a nice guy, I'm not surprised he said " ca va" to you...Next time you see him, you could ask him :

Thanks for the report as always, the cutest stalker

Did you see him smile once this week, Jenny?

Ohhh, Paulo has been a wee bit too moody lately! His face looks like this :( all the time!!!! (Wait, it always does!)
Well, I was saying the F word quite a few times to my teddy bear too :haha: But we all saw it coming so not really a surprise.
Behave, Paulo :p

So Nottingham isn't a sure thing anymore...

L'equipe:

Do whatever is best for yourself, Paulo

It'll take quite sometime to arrive :awww:

You know, I think it has something to do with RG. He never really gets to where he wanted to (esp. in the big tourneys). He must have thought this year, with a help of two coaches, he would go far. I mean, to be honest, the match against Djokovic wasn't good at all. And to see Monfils reached the semis, I saw the interview he gave about Monfils-Federer, I could tell what's on his mind. It must have been difficult to see Monfils and Champion getting there. I don't mean that in a bad way. I'm sure he's happy for them. But it's just difficult... really difficult. (However... To me, life is just too unfair.)

I'm worried that he'll lose the will to play. I'm afraid that he'll think he's getting no where after all the work he put in.

But you know what, I know how strong Paulo is. He'll pull through this somehow. Something is bothering him. I can tell from the pictures  (Oh yeah, I'm that good! :rolls: )

You're never alone in this, Paulo  You have us and the sock!

Hum, that's a good analysis, you are truly the most dedicated and attentive Paulo's fan I've ever met  You must be wired on his mind

It's true that his match against Djokovic was disapointing, I saw it on the big screen at RG ( I was there but too early to hope to get tickets to the Chatrier :p ), and he was definitely lacking something to play at his maximum. Not a bad match in itself really, but he could have easily won a set or two.I remember Dip said Paulo was the most disapointing loss among the frenchie.
This is weird because his last match against Schwank was something and he seemed to enjoy his time on the court. Maybe, as you said, he thinks he has lost his opportunity with RG for good

That plus grassy grass ( dunno if it even means something ha ha )and maybe it's just not a good time but he'll bounce back, that our Paulo :bounce:

He had two tough matches against Hernandez and Schawank. He must have felt good prior to the match against Djokovic (even I felt good ), it must have been extra disappointing. He could have made it closer, but I still don't think it's enough. (But to be fair, Djokovic served really well and it's very unfortunate to be in that side of the draw.) He needs some reward. Something to remind him that it's worth fighting for :awww:

Some notes from the match:

Serving at 4-5, the second seed hit two double faults and a backhand into the tramlines allowed Cilic to level.

Mathieu was becoming increasingly frustrated with his game and when he netted a backhand at 30-40 in the sixth game of the decider, Cilic had the crucial break.

Cilic: "He lost his concentration and it opened the door for me. I used very good tactics in the third set and played my best tennis in the match."

 I was right, Marie (marifline)!

I have a Paulo intuition

As much as I love to see him does well in a GS event, I totally agree with you! If he feels like he needs a rest, then rest up! Well, maybe it's not that simple for Paulo since he's already 26 years old, not that much chances left. I guess it's difficult for him to let a chance passes by right in front of him. Like Nottingham... somehow I felt like he was forced to play --- you know, because he had to! It's complicated at this point. He's no Richard or Tsonga who has at least 5 solid years to make something happen. But still, I really hope he isn't seeing this as a beginning of the end. It really is just a beginning.

Paulology is actually not a difficult subject if one takes time to study  But I do need French lessons :o Listening and speaking :yeah:

Psychologically, this could be a tricky match because of their recent encounter. It's going to depend on how Paulo plays. And to be honest, we don't really know where Paulo's head is at the moment. I wonder if he's ready to play... mentally.

He will have to be the one who forces the play. With the stage of mind he's in right now, you never know what's going to happen!

I'm saying these stuffs because I don't want the :o, or  if he doesn't get the win. Some understanding would be nice if things don't go according to plan :p

Well anyway we'll be there to make a psychoanalysis of the match and we'll know how the fact that he was/wasn't wearing a certain shirt affected his victory/loss  No, kidding... As you said, there's no way to know what's going on in his lovely head right now... And if Dr J, ( futur ?) Ph.D. in Paulology doesn' know who can ?

I just can't wait for you report !!! :woohoo: The week end is coming, the Championship is coming and the great Paulo report is coming too

But J, what smiley are we supposed to use if he loses ? this one I suppose --> :awww: soooo cute, here's another one :awww: Oh this smiley neeeds a hug, here

We surely will be there for him ;) Plain boring white shirt is not good, Paulo! :p And it'd better not be too big!

We need him to wear the HOLEY SOCK! :rocker2:

Studying Paulology is getting tougher and tougher these days :o

Yes, Cilic would be Rd. 3. Cilic always being in Paulo's section is like Andreev/Tursunov being in Richard's section for so much earlier in the year/last year

Paulo, we suggest next time if you win a big match, please take off your shoes, and throw them to the crowds instead of your wrist bands etc, just like Mica did :p

I guess both Cilic and Paulo have already been tired of each other themselves  would like to know how their faces look like when they saw the RG draws. :spit: Besides, I do think it's a decent draw for him. I don't see a lot of grass threats in his quarter, and if he plays well, he should defend all the points there.

I am reading your guidelines  I do need. I like the smilie :awww:. One question, can I use :ras: or :smash: if someday he lost a match like 6-0 0-6 0-6?

Hey,
I'm going to watch Paulo's match in full tomorrow (assuming I can't get into Richard on court 1), so I shall try to remember to report back!
I did see Patrice today watching Cornet but no Paulo sightings yet.
Hopefully tomorrow's match should be fun and I shall Vamos for Paul (and probably annoy Oscar in the process )

A few words from Patrice (hoping to make us a little less nervous ):
