What in the fucking hell Nikolay???:confused:

Ljubicic played great tennis today. The serve bailed him out of trouble a bunch of times. Once he got into a rally, he seemed content to just hang around and let Davy decide the outcome. So he goes from not winning a set against Davy on clay to coming back from 2 sets down. Amazing turnaround! :)

Very sad for Davy though. His first loss from 2-0 up.

Ljubicic played very well for the last three sets but still it's really a tale of Davydenko thinking it was over. He didn't take his chances to get ahead in the sets he lost and really didn't play well enough. Great win for Ljubicic but a bad loss for Davydenko as well.

Shameful performance from Davy in those last 3 sets. Absolute mug level of play. He has become a joke in slams this year. If it wasn't for his Miami triumph his year would be in the pits.

Ljubo, you and your serve rule :worship:

He was just pushing the ball back in the final set and somehow got the break. And made a couple of backhand winners...looked so simple.

However, unexplainable performance from Nikolay. Leading 2-0 and then turning into a too agressive challenger player with a huge number of UEs and no consistency + missins some easy shots.

This day was just hillarious with all the 5-setters and comebacks.

Woah.. Just how many comebacks we'll see in this tournament..?

Real shame for Davy, he came to RG playing very well, and he did play well at the earlier rounds but... Well, saw the last set of this match, Davy was missing easy shots looking filled with unconfidence, but credit to Ljubo, he wasn't really missing anything and kept the ball in play for a frustrating amount of time for Davy... With some extra winners and solid serving, he got the win, and what a win it is for him.

I see similarities between this result and that one Davydenko lost to Vassallo Arguello . If some people were suspicious about that match , similar suspicion can exist here too.ATP should investigate about what happened in betting and gambling places and sites during this match.

I followed the online betting market on betfair and it was completely different to the Vassallo match.

In fact the betting odds for most of the match suggested that Davydenko couldn't possibly lose, and only when Ljubicic was a break up in the final set did the betting market realize that he could lose. This pattern is the complete opposite of what would happen in a suspicious match, such as the Vassallo one when where Davydenko's betting odds suggested Davydenko couldn't win.

Of course some less sophisticated gamblers that bet on Davydenko at very low odds will cry foul, but that just doesn't make sense and they are just looking at an excuse for losing their money.

Absolutely.. That time was simply an unfortunate accident, the information leaked somewhere down the line and became a common knowledge of the market .. hence ridiculous betting patterns.. This time those few aware of the happening did manage to keep the info contained..

Nah

He's was in SF in FO 2006

He's also beaten Kafelnikov (3) in Monte Carlo '99 and Ferrero (3) in Rome '02

But anyways, nice win!

Have you seen the players he beat to reach the RG semis? ;) Monaco was the best one, and he was still far from his prime.

Fair point about the other two you mentioned though, even though none of these were in a Slam.

.

that was also 0-2 in sets and 1-3 in the 3rd
this was the 4th time Ljubo came back to win a match from down 0-2 in sets :worship:

All,

I always liked Lubi for some reason. I guess part of it was upon seeing the piece on TTC w/he and his wife. They are so in love. Is he still president of the players' council?

I've been a little sad for him since he's been losing - when in 2006, he was Hot. This win should do a lot for his confidence. I am happy for him. Good luck to both he and Gael. Hopefully, the match will be of high quality.

Why couldn't you do this against Berdych in Paris, Ivan?

A ljubo win that's worth celebrating :yeah: The fixer should have been banned a long time ago and yet he is still around and manages to pull of this fix without getting into trouble??? Something is wrong. Ban him!

Seriously? Posting right after a post that explains why the fix was not feasible?

Surprising that Nikolay lost it, though

90% of your posts show why you should never be taken seriously. :wavey:

Also, what type of backhand does Ljubo have again? :p

Why would Davydenko be stunned? He got beat by the player whose position he took over as High Ranked Player Who Can't Beat Anyone Ranked Above Himself.

Clearly, you have no clue.

Explain. Both of these guys were never able to make the leap to being serious Slam contenders, and Davydenko losing to someone who was a semifinalist here in 2006 is boring and not stunning.

Let me put it plainly for you:

- Ljuba Truba's 06 RG draw was one of the easiest draws in the history of draws.
- Ljuba Truba has a comical GS win/loss record.
- Kolya was 2 sets up.

Okay, now I am stunned. I don't know why I even posted in this thread, actually. I was just being a pain.

That is all.

Ljubo you mug, losing the first two sets to this clown, you will have to perform better against Gael the french lover..

Bravo Ljubo, I was amazed at the end to see some emotions from him, and everybody could see what it meant to him, hats off....

lmao at the morons who think that this was fixed.

well done ljuba, kolya relaxed in the 3.set, ljubo smelled blood, he started mixing up his play, going for his shots more, serving big and never looked back.

Wow  I was so close to putting a vBet on Ljuba but the memory of the set I watched in his last loss to Davydenko in Hamburg - where I actually thought he had a decent shot with the surface reportedly playing a litle faster - put me off. Didn't see this one but it sounds like the Russian suddenly remembed after the first two sets that he's supposed to suck in the Slams (even against those he should beat on paper), like he did against Youzhny in AO 08 to knock me out of a tennis contest :o Congrats to the Croat for now but I'll be back rooting against him next match :p

That's what changed my opinion about this match. In the fifth, I was really pulling for Davy and was quite pissed when he didn't break back in the 2-3 game. But when Ljubicic fell on his back when he won, I went from being pissed at Davy to being happy for Ljubo.

Really great match! I hope he makes the semis.

When he sat down at the end he could still not believe it, I am sure that before the match he thought that he had almost no chances, his form was in decline, kolya played some excellent tennis in the last months;

He played up to his limit, brilliant serving, a few great bekhands, and the forhand, well it was OK, but what shocked me was his moving, like a claycourt dog he was running from one side to the other and melting down Davydenko, magnificent defence..

Kolya went off in the third, but you have to give Ivan credit for such a display...:worship:

Who would have expected this, after a beat down a couple of weeks back handed to Ljubicic from Davydenko?

Looks like a bit of resurgence from Ljubicic, this will lift his spirits.

Hilarious how the Croats are deathly quiet all year until Zagreb, then quiet again until he gets one good win here, then quiet again until Vienna.

Mugs, the lot of them.
