I was looking at the serving stats of the French Open, and to my surprise Nikolay Davydenko was #6, having hit a 222 kph serve, which is something around 140 mph no? Is that accurate or did the stats guys mess up?

This is no surprise, Davydenko has one of the best serves on tour. Fast too.

Just ironic given his serving problems at the end of last year.

they had some problems with the accuracy in the beggining of the tournament... it was supposed to be fixed by day 3 but i doubt it... i mean, i "saw" Santoro (with a back injury) scoring a 228km/h serve : seriously ????!!

lol. It's good for his height, but it is no where near one of the best on tour. The main thing holding him back is his serve.

But yeah, he can get it at those speeds.

222 is definitely something that Kolya can serve

Davy one is not a mistake but Santoro 228km/h serve is..they took it away from the official site today.
It's not really surprising to see Davy hitting 220km/h serve. He often does that if he goes for it but doesn't really have good accuracy because of his height. So sometimes, he just kicks the serve to start a rally and makes his average serve speed looks pretty slow.

It's up there with Sampras's for sure. "Pistol Donkey" that's what they call him on tour.

good they erased Santoro's one, when i saw 228 i was like : "it has to be a joke !!" ... but i wasn't questioning Kolya's 222, he definitely can serve that fast ! i just wanted to mention that they had few problems with the system ... ;)

not as impressive as Ferrer hitting a 240kmh server last year

Kolya has a technically correct serve.

I feel so much pressure is on his backbone when he serves. He gives so much curve to his waist and backbone I think.I don't know if it is considered correct or false in medical aspects.Blake and Davydenko serve reverse each other in view of pressure and curve on backbone .

I'm not sure. John Newcombe said it was technically correct.
