RG R3: Gulbis crashes Lapentti 6-3 7-5 6-2HeretiC 05-30-2008, 12:27 PM Impressive stuff from Ernests, he was good in every area. TheBoiledEgg 05-30-2008, 12:28 PM another spanking from Ernie  :D should win his 4r too wanna see Ernie take on the Arrogant Prat  Deivid23 05-30-2008, 12:28 PM A trashing was on the cards and Ernest didn´t dissapoint :yeah: Adler 05-30-2008, 12:28 PM Didn't see that one coming, good stuff by Gulbis and a huge chance of QF appearance, considering that he'll play a weak returner or a weak baseliner Black Adam 05-30-2008, 12:29 PM Good, Djokovic will need some stiff competition in QF and this Gulbis guy has a high success ratio with his ball bashing. Action Jackson 05-30-2008, 12:30 PM Good win for Ernie and coming back from a break down in the 2nd set was impressive. Served out the match to love and 4th round for the first time at RG. dam0dred 05-30-2008, 12:30 PM Great stuff. Looking forward to Djoko/Gulbis. seljanin 05-30-2008, 12:32 PM Yesssssssss  This is a good win. Shame that didn't have a chance to watch though. Olympics in the bag now as well :yeah: HeretiC 05-30-2008, 12:34 PM Being a head-case as he can be sometimes I though he will blew this opportunity, but looks like he matured a lot in a mental department. rocketassist 05-30-2008, 12:35 PM Another job well done :woohoo: Jelena 05-30-2008, 12:36 PM I don't really like the result  Nico  jitterbug 05-30-2008, 12:37 PM Ernito :D well done! I hope that somebody would be able to upload the match - I was rather upset that I couldn't watch it. I couldn't access the TTC streams (nor on-demand archive) as all the pr*xies I tried were ineffective  Snoo Foo 05-30-2008, 12:38 PM Ernie est un crac de clay! :yeah: http://www.scifistar.com/sciimages/livingston-barry.jpg jitterbug 05-30-2008, 12:40 PM Good, Djokovic will need some stiff competition in QF and this Gulbis guy has a high success ratio with his ball bashing. :spit: Kind words :yeah: TMJordan 05-30-2008, 12:41 PM :retard: zeleni 05-30-2008, 12:45 PM Well done, Gulbis.:) I didn't expect so convincing win. Black Adam 05-30-2008, 12:45 PM Let's face it, the guy goes for winners at every opportunity. Even though it's not brainless ballbashing like Blake, it still is ballbashing. I think he does so because his movement is suspect and has to hit a winner before he get engaged in a losing rally. It works for him, so Bravo!! However, don't congratulate him as if he were some shot maker out of this world. He is just a ball basher who is stringing together some good days. Jelena 05-30-2008, 12:51 PM :retard: do I get a million $ when I say someone lost money? :p Manon 05-30-2008, 01:05 PM Lapentti will confuse the kid with his game. He didn't. I'm afraid he'll lose to Lapentti and we'll all forget about him till he wins 2 matches in a row again Luckilly you were wrong. He won 3 in a row. He's definitely one to watch, he's a player that, on a great day for him, is basically unbeatable. :yeah: I'm sick of Lapenti's game, it's boring (though I like the guy). Gulbis was really good today. I've never doubt he will win. jonny84 05-30-2008, 01:05 PM Good win for Gulbis - hopefully this will be a big breakthrough tournament for him. Bernard Black 05-30-2008, 01:14 PM Wow, didn't think it would be this easy. Good win Ernie, and great tournament so far. but-it's-ok 05-30-2008, 01:20 PM Yesssssssss  This is a good win. Shame that didn't have a chance to watch though. Olympics in the bag now as well :yeah: :wavey: I didn't have chance to watch either. This is exciting for Ernests, French Open last 16, and qualifying for Olympics, thats so:cool: Congratulations Ernests:worship: Magus13 05-30-2008, 01:32 PM Let's face it, the guy goes for winners at every opportunity. It works for him, so Bravo!! However, don't congratulate him as if he were some shot maker out of this world. He is just a ball basher who is stringing together some good days. Lets face it. The kid is really good. What you call ball bashing is what other call aggressive tennis. The idea is to win points. He's more that just a ball basher. He hit many drop shots against Blake, has a good all around game and played excellent defense vs Blake. His movement is actually pretty good for a kid his size as was noted by the commentators who covered his match. What I can't stand about you and a bunch of others, is that you state your opinions as if they were fact. Weather its talking about a player, or analyzing draw, the facts mean nothing, visual evidence maens nothing, statistics mean nothing. If you think it, it must be true. That is why you are and always will be an idiot. Black Adam 05-30-2008, 01:35 PM :bigcry: Ballbasher in a good patch, that's all :p groundstroke 05-30-2008, 01:37 PM Surprising to see Gulbis play so consistent for so long, impressive to say the least. martine2 05-30-2008, 01:38 PM I don't really like the result  Nico  Me neither :( but congrats to Gulbis anyway! guille&tati4life 05-30-2008, 01:54 PM Nico had a horrible match. The stats were just disgusting and the 3rd set is one of the worst sets I've seen Nico play in a long time. Missed a great chance. justClaudia 05-30-2008, 01:56 PM Nico had a horrible match. The stats were just disgusting and the 3rd set is one of the worst sets I've seen Nico play in a long time. Missed a great chance. indeed :( Jimnik 05-30-2008, 03:07 PM So impressive from Ernie, especially considering he usually struggles on clay. When things go his way, they really do go 100% his way. He does get a lot of one-sided matches. This is the first time he's won three in a row this year and he did without any kind of form or confidence. He hasn't had a run like this since the US Open so he's proving himself to be a good slam player. :yeah: guille&tati4life 05-30-2008, 03:14 PM Gulbis wasn't even good people. Stats, 27 winners to 51 UEs. He relied on serving and a performance that Lapentti will be appalled at. Llodra v Gulbis :haha: finishingmove 05-30-2008, 03:48 PM he loses to llodra next, but expected win , this one. EnriqueIG8 05-30-2008, 03:52 PM Ernests is on a killing spree! well done Gulbis :worship: Iván 05-30-2008, 03:53 PM future vs dinasour ciprianned 05-30-2008, 03:54 PM GULBIS :bounce: Jelena 05-30-2008, 04:06 PM future vs dinasour Dinasours are dead, Nico is alive. :) Alvarillo 05-30-2008, 04:12 PM Latvia ... 12 points!!! Kodjo 05-30-2008, 04:17 PM really awful from Lapentti in set 3 Llodra-Gulbis most interesting... Caio_Brasil 05-30-2008, 04:18 PM Nico  From what I read here Gulbis played very well, so not that bad :) Maybe Nico's marathons in the 2 first rounds helped, but the guy must have deserved the win :yeah: Nico  keep going HeretiC 05-30-2008, 04:58 PM Yes, he can play like a typical ballbasher sometimes, but he did played lots of excellent drop shots and volleys today. He was indeed quite a versatile. Bilbo 05-30-2008, 05:30 PM Ernie :woohoo: Scotso 05-30-2008, 06:48 PM I'm sick of Lapenti's game, it's boring (though I like the guy). :ras: He's one of the nicest guys on the tour by far. Really sweet. ChinoRios4Ever 05-30-2008, 07:11 PM poor Nico  Jelena 05-30-2008, 07:12 PM :ras: He's one of the nicest guys on the tour by far. Really sweet. I soooo agree. jitterbug 05-31-2008, 12:46 AM Latvia ... 12 points!!! Because we are wolves of the sea! Merton 05-31-2008, 02:09 AM Excellent win for Gulbis, this is the 2nd slam after the US Open that he makes it through to the 2nd week. | |
