Your thoughts on Hewitt (26) vs Ferrer (5)?

FO is Hewitt's first claycourt tournament after nibbling injuries to the hip.

However, he has been comprehensive during the duration of the tournament. Can he pull off a remarkable win against an in form player and one of the best claycourters, Ferrer?

Ferrer should win in 3 or 4 sets max.

Hewitt in 5 sets.

Cmon Lleyton.

Ferrer, unless he somehow decides to play crap (what he did against Ferrero and Djokovic at AO). Then anything can happen

No chance for Lleyton, Ferrer in three

Too easy on clay

ferrer in 3 or 4 most likely but if lleyton can play without being hindered by his hip at all maybe he has a chance.

Pics has been pretty shit this year, but he'll still win this 4 or 5 sets probably.

last two years Ferrer lost in 3rd round to a guy considerably worse in ranking

though he should clinch this one, maybe in 4

Ferrer in 4. I'm confident that Hewitt can get one set.

Ferrer will win it.
But I would prefer Hewitt to make it to the next round.

I'd pick Hewitt on any surface but clay. Ferrer should take this in 4. Will be a good match though.

ferrer in 4, i'm confident lleyton will take a set but pics will be too tough in the end

Lleyton will fight for every single point, but his clay skills don't match Ferrer's. If he takes it to five, then maybe he can frazzle Ferrer mentally, but that's his only hope.

Well, Hewitt and Gooch just got dumped out of the doubles. Time to get prepared for your big singles match, Hewitt.

judging by the way Hewitt pushed Nadal last year, i think an upset might be likely.

Ferrer in 3 maybe 4 if Hewitt plays well. I wonder how well Hewitt's hip will hold up. Ferrer can run all day, can Hewitt?

Only the real best on clay can beat Hewitt at RG. Last 3 times he participated he lost to the eventual winner...Finally he has a kinder draw (no Nadal in 4th round) so I really hope he can get some nice result :) but he must be really rusty and he said he wasnt recovered from his injury yet.

I think Lleyton has a chance but it depends on how his body holds up.

Ferrer should destroy my boy, but crazier things have happened. Lleyton just has to keep getting ball after ball back and hopes Ferrer is an Unforced Error waiting to happen that day.

If he wins he'll sure as hell have earned it.

Heart wants Hewitt...but head says Ferrer...even though neither have shown me much lately (what little I'm able to scarf on US TV of these two fav non-Americans). If Lleyton's hip can hold up...it should make for an interesting match.

I choose Lleyton. Obviously Ferrer is the hot favourite. That could be his undoing. It's going to be a fantastic match though whatever happens.

Hewitt has faced two performers who didn't make him work. Few make you work harder than Ferrer; he will exploit Hewitt's rustiness and this will be a massacre of highest proportions.

Ferrer wil triple bagel him and say "Looks like I got the hair out of my ears cabròn" at the handshake

I feel bad for Hewitt. He doesn't have enough power to win on hard and grass, and doesn't haven enough spin to do significant things on clay. He basically hits a slow flat ball, which really sucks for him. Granted, he is a two-time champion, but back then his top challenger was Roddick, who is able to out-suck anyone.

As Ferrer displays his craft on the dirt tomorrow, Hewitt will go down fighting and sucking and losing in 4 sets. Hewitt will lose the first, summon his spirits to win the second, and handedly lose the next two. This is usually the patten when he plays Federer, only he never wins the second set in that situation.

With the draw Hewitt had even Roberts Smeets could possibly have come through into the third round. Fish and Mahut are in awful form. So I wouldn't read too much into that, probably easy win for Ferrer...

...hewitt wasn't injured dude... he doesnt buy in to the whole mandatory event thing so gets the doctor to write him a injury note... does it every year... and rightly so... dont have to do something if you dont wanna...

he's too aussie to miss the french tho...

does any one remember when hewitt went to brazil in davis cup and beat guga 3,3n3...? long time back but was after guga won at least 1 french...

ferrer in 4...

Difficult match to call, I don't trust Ferrer's form despite his last match against Santoro and obviously it is hard to see Hewitt's form after matches against Mahut and Fish on clay. The better player on the day will win.

I'd pick Hewitt in this one because he's shown time and time again, that he still can compete against the worlds best. Ferrer's best surface is hard court now and everyone knows that..

Ur very optimistic. That's great. However, Hewitt has succumbed to the world's best in recent time which has seen his ranking slip (with a combination of injury).

Ferrer in 3. This is 2008, now 2001-2003. Hewitt is declining every year.

I don't think it's smart to count out rusty here. Match up wise i think there will be lots of long rallying going on and will depend on who can play the big points better. I don't think either player will dominate on serve so alot of 40-40 games and unless hewitt drops alot of short balls to ferrer's forehand then he's not going get blown of the court either.

Good luck Lleyton :)
