JCF has been playing really fine, a high quality tiebreak from what I was able to watch and then....Probably some unlucky injury....

It would be his bloody abductor again. He was thinking about pulling out of RG because of it. I guess it must be really bothering him:(

I really hope he gets well soon.

Tennis-Open-Ferrero limps out of the French Open

Former champion Juan Carlos Ferrero's French Open campaign ended in the first round on Wednesday when he quit with a leg injury.

Ferrero was leading 7-6 2-2 against Brazilian journeyman Marcos Daniel when he began to limp around court and moments later he shook his head and told the umpire he could no longer continue.

The Spaniard captured his sole grand slam title here in 2003 and had never lost in the first round in any of his previous eight visits to Roland Garros.

On Wednesday, he looked to be in control of the match after recovering from 3-1 down in the first set to take it on a tiebreak but said later that he first felt a twinge midway through the first set and the pain got progressively worse.

That's actually the only way Daniel can win a best-of-five sets match.

Hope it's nothing serious for Ferrero.

Well I never trust the accuracies of the reasons for retirement but if it is true then it's yet another new injury for him. His hip was the reason why he was considering not playing here at all. Maybe it's a chain reaction.,

I have a bad feeling this will be a long-term problem for JCF. We'll see how the grass season goes but clearly he's having problems this year without playing that many matches.

i hope it something else and not an aggravation of the hip abductor. a tear could potentially put wimbledon in question for him. what a shame.
