Very impressive by Odesnik and next round opponent is HT Lee. A good chance for him to advance another round if he continues to play like today.

Odesnik an American that enjoys playing on clay. Far from spectacular, but fights very hard and a good way to impress coach Mantilla.

Got to love the time this match took shortest set lasted 62 minutes, the first one was 75 and the third around 80 minutes.

Far from it. The man knows every single stat that there is to know and ones that aren't invented, which is admirable and if there is a stat inquiry, he is the man to ask.

Some people are just stats wonks, and only really enjoy the stats analysis of a subject rather than the subject itself. I quite like keeping an eye on F1 stats but watching cars go round a track bores me intensely.

I didn't see Odesnik-Canas match because I hadn't even chance to see it like probalby most of the members here - match was playing on an unavailable court No. 6.
I prefer to put some stats instead of analysis because of two reasons:
1) I'm not so fluent in English to write insightful analysis as I would write in my native language
2) There are plenty of members who write analysis and I haven't got an aspiration to be another one of them, I try to focus on stats and I suppose it's beneficial for this forum

BTW, It isn't 98 % but is rather a normal thing that you can't read all my posts on this forum in this entire jungle of various threads :)

Not sure how much of it they showed, but when I woke up this morning, I turned on the tv to see the last few points of this match on TTC. At least someone thought it was interesting enough to lug a camera out to that court, even for a few minutes.

Patrick McEnroe is now faced with the tough task of deciding who will face Spain in September. All of a sudden he has got at least 4 players who have proved to be reliable claycourters during this clay season (Roddick, Blake, Querrey and Odesnik). Tie in September won't be an easy affair, it's 50-50 I would say :) ;)

I really feel bad for Patrick though. His team is probably going to lose the first 2 matches against Nadal and Ferrer, and we all know that Blake chokes in live matches, so maybe it's better to go with Odesnik. Obviously Querrey couldn't even mount a small challenge to Federer so I wonder how many games he would win against Nadal if he were to face him. I'd say probably 5 or 6 maybe.

Odesnik really surprised me. He basically played out of his mind, and managed to sustain aggressive play for most of the match. He also used his lefty serve on ad points to great effect, saving multiple break points in 3rd set. Canas didn't play badly, but was predictably defensive, staying well behind the baseline, and sometimes gifted Odesnik short balls which the latter smartly dealt with. It was as tight as any match could get, but in the end, the better player won.

pretty good match, i enjoyed it.

this opens the road for Djokovic to the semis...
