I never understand this ridiculous thing some posters here have stating that we shouldn't pass criticism on players because we couldn't do any better. It doesn't make a great deal of sense, if it did none of us would be able to post anything about tennis at all. I mean just because I can't outrally Roddick BH to BH I shouldn't be able to say that is his weaker wing?

I would have kept openly leering at Tomas and making suggestions about what we might do later, and got him so distracted and unfocused and irritated that he would have coughed up at least two games for me :)

I doubt he personally asked for the WC. The guy didn't even bother to sign in for qualies. He knows he isn't a marvel on clay, and wasn't planning on playing whatsoever. Then when it turned out TA wanted to hand him the WC, he didn't refuse. I think the mistake lies with TA, and not so much with Robert. Obviously any Aussie WC recipient would have made an easy opponent, but I am sure someone like Sirianni could have done better.

Sirianni would have done much better, but he is not one the TA golden boys.

Way to give the suits, stiffs, corporate schills, etc. ticket buyers what they paid for. Truly ridiculous display at this level. :help:

Hopefully, Berdych is not too tired for his next match.

Actually that would have spurned him on to finish the match in record time in hot anticipation of what you had to offer him afterwards. I'm sure the giant killer Safarova's deathly pale appearance is not as appetising as it once was. A tripple bagel for your efforts...sorry ;)

Can we have some reality check here ? In 2004 Federer trounced a former world number 1 Lleyton Hewitt 6-0, 7-6, 6-0 in the US Open final of all places. The gulf that exists between Berdych and Smeets is infinitely wider than that which existed between Rogi and Llegs in 2004. This result was more than expected and disappointed fans should have done their homework before choosing to watch the match. Get over it or get on the court and try taking a set off talented Tomas.
