The Gustavo Kuerten Farewell: Best memory?

Gustavo Kuerten is one of my all time hero's of tennis. It is a pity that he is quitting but for the last years he couldn't play at his best.

What is youre best memory of GUGA?

I wasn't following tennis like I do now but since Krajicek won Wimbledon I was getting more into it. Since I saw Kuerten in his Yellow and Blue outfit I fell in love with the guy (only speaking of tennis) :)

Weel, it is really hard not to like Guga as for that smile and modesty are rare in the tennis world. My best memories should be the first RG where he was a complete unknown and the Lisbon masters cup where he beat Sampras and Agassi to become world n°1.
Really bad he had to struggle for years with that hip injury

OBRIGADO GUGA!! GRANDE CAMPEAO!!!

sorry I forgot best memory about Guga... when he drew a heart in the clay at RG and I watched him training in Monte Carlo in 2004.

Unfortunately one pic is wrongly signed. There is a suggestion that 5th pic was done after final in Lisbon 2000, but pic comes from Los Angeles 2002 :)

Drawing the heart on the court for the fans in the stadium after winning the French. <3

Tennis was so much more interesting when he was in the mix. He will be sorely, sorely missed.

The match against Bruguera in RG 1997. Most people were thinking that the occasion would be too much for him, his first Slam final against a former two-time RG champion. And he managed to surprise everyone once more and played his best match of the tournament. Bruguera was stunned and there was nothing he could do.

I also liked when he beat Federer in RG 2004. His swan song without a doubt.

TMC 2000, beating the great Agassi with a magnificent three sets of tennis.

His third and final RG.

And that win over Federer in 2004.

The 2001 French Open was my favorite, followed by his win in 1997.

The Masters cup beating Agassi and Sampras back to back was pretty impressive.

In 2004, when he beat Federer, like a drum at Roland Garros was suprising, and great to see.

I thought he made the heart when he beat Russel, not when he beat Corretja in the final? Am I wrong?

He did it twice, on both occasions.

Ah, what a moment. And standing about 2 feet away from him after a match in Toronto and being surprised by how tall he is.

Best Memory: that speech he gave in Brazil back in February? Why? Because it called to mind every other great Guga memory and illustrated why he's one of the best-loved tennis icons.

he will play at least two matches ;)

Grosjean in the doubles

While Sebastian Grosjean’s sore shoulder caused him to pull out of the singles, he will be lining up in the doubles with none other than Brazilian Gustavo Kuerten. The former French number one and the three-time Roland Garros champion should prove a huge draw for the crowds but it remains to be seen how competitive the two injured players will be.
