Good news, Stella Artois tennis has a new channel on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/ArtoisTennis) for their videos. I hope this means they'll be uploading player profiles, interviews, and match highlights. :D

This is why Queens is awesome. :D I'm pretty sad that the Artois brand aren't going to be sponsoring Queens after this year because they've done such a good job with the tournament and the red is just totally recognisable.

I am so excited about grass season! Mostly because tennis is on my tv every day for three out of four weeks.

holy fuckin shit. ANDY. STOP COMMITTING TO OPTIONAL EVENTS. EVEN ONES RIGHT NEAR ME. IT IS REALLY ANNOYING.

thanks. :)

Yay, he's playing every week this summer! And a few team tennis events too! Yay!

(Oh wait, he's off the week before the USO, so that's good).

Deboogle!.
05-22-2008, 01:51 AM
i really can't believe andy would play 5 weeks in a row - and 3 weeks before the 2 masters events - knowing full well he's gonna go deep in every one. Even he's not that lame.

snaillyyy
05-22-2008, 03:07 AM
So which ones do we think he is going to pull out of?

Deboogle!.
05-22-2008, 03:09 AM
Well, where's the source that he committed to LA? He won't pull out of DC, my guess is LA would be the one to go, it's the one he has the least history with and it's in the middle of the Masters and DC..... 3 on 1 off 1 on 1 off seems not too terrible....

snaillyyy
05-22-2008, 03:21 AM
Thanks:kiss: Seems logical to me.......but wait we are talking about Andy, forget I said that;)

Deboogle!.
05-22-2008, 03:45 AM
;) I mean he's done some really insane things this year, but I dunno if he would be insane enough to play 5 weeks in a row during a time of year where he almost always goes deep. the fact that LA is AFTER the masters events gives him some leeway - if he goes deep the previous 3 weeks, he'll pull and then play DC, if he doesn't play as much as he wants, he can keep it, of course, why commit, just ask for a WC later? whatever as you said, it's andy

GollyLou

The source is an e-mail I got saying that he is in, with a big picture of Andy and a quote of him saying something like "Im very happy to play LA again..." :) plus of course a reminder of "buy your tickets now"

Im sure they will put it in the tourney home page soon.

So, he is playing Toronto, Cincy, LA and DC right ??? He is resting this year the week of Indianapolis, Am I wrong !? I cant find a source saying he will play Indy this year.

Deboogle!.
05-22-2008, 06:53 PM
Oh so it was an email from the tourney? interesting, thanks. He's never skipped Indy before but I suppose there's a first time for everything. I don't think he would want to go into the masters events cold, and even if he didn't play it, he would still be playing 4 weeks in a row before the USO

Oj-Ala
05-22-2008, 07:11 PM
Yeah, an e-mail. I wanted to post it but, I cant, hehe Is that possible ??? how could I past it here ? anyway, he is playing LA.... and skipping Indy  I think that week he is playing the WTT right ???

Deboogle!.
05-22-2008, 07:38 PM
WTT is July 12, which is a Saturday, Indy starts the following Monday. He may not have committed to Indy yet but I also haven't read anything explicit about him NOT committing.

He had better play Toronto, last time the guys played here we were all disappointed cos he pulled out with a side muscle injury. We always look forward to seeing Andy play but even I am puzzled as to why he would play 5 weeks in a row. With Rafa it is different cos he has clay court points to defend but still it seems like madness - sigh typical Andy tho.

Deboogle!.
05-23-2008, 03:18 PM
Of course he'll play a HC masters if he's healthy, that's not even a question for debate

I am not at all convinced Andy's gonna play all 5 weeks.

Larah, I know you will like this as much as I do: Novak will play Queen's again this year. :D

Novak Djokovic signs up to play Wimbledon tune-up at Queen's Club

LONDON — Novak Djokovic will join a strong field at the Wimbledon tune-up tournament at Queen's Club next month.

Djokovic, who reached the Wimbledon semifinals last year, will be playing in the June 9-15 grass-court warmup in west London.

"I have played at the Queen's Club for the past couple of years and it's a great pleasure and excitement to be there and to be part of such a great tournament," Djokovic said in an interview posted by organizers.

"The atmosphere is fantastic, and there is so much tradition in tennis for this tournament. The crowds respect the players a lot and so it's always fun to be there."

Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Murray, David Nalbandian, Richard Gasquet and Fernando Gonzalez are also scheduled to appear at Queen's.

I like him in red too. I wish he'd play in red. I actually did a double take when I saw him in red walking to the practise courts.

I think he was just cautious with his serve. At the start of the practise he was barely hitting it at all and as he got more into it then he definitely was more comfortable serving harder. But it wasn't as hard as it usually is.

Also... pictures!

LOL I thought I saw Adam. I dunno, it just wasn't quite Andy serving out there. He hit a lot of serves into the net.

He wasn't in the best of moods afterwards AT ALL. Actually he didn't look too happy for the whole thing, but afterwards be avoided his 20-or-so fans and walked through the other court where they were also practising.

Thanks for the pics Holly, they're great. Reminds me how much I need to get an SLR camera! :p

I was also watching Andy's practise, seems like quite a few MTFers were there. Did see Adam there, with his Tesco bag. :p
Agree that Andy wasn't serving great but that seem like precaution of course, so I guess we just have to wait and see how he goes. I wasn't there at the end (was over at the court next to it) but did see the little fan gathering waiting for him by the exit, tsk, naughty Andy for avoiding them. I guess he realised that they didn't have any babies among them and left disappointed.

Have you seen the cover of last year's Artois leaflet.
It was Andy Roddick wearing red shirt, obviously photo-shopped Artois red :haha:

He comes to an idea wearing the signatured colour of the tournament or inspired from Justine yesterday.

Grass season swings into action this week and for Andy Roddick that means it's his best time of the year. I don't wanna jinx anything by talking about him as my pick for the Wimbledon title...so let's just look at this week at Queen's club first.

STELLA!!

Andy has a decent draw, however, this years Queen's club looks like it might be the toughest field ever. For some reason though, the draws always look tough at Queens and then the top players drop like flies after a few matches, either from fatigue or just for precaution. Long story short, you never know who will be around at the business end of this tournement.(except for Andy)

Likely matches...

R2)Ginepri
R3)Fish
QFs)Murray
SFs)Karlovic/Querrey/Nadal
Final)Djokovic/Isner/Lopez/Hewitt

Why does Andy have to play all the American guys? With the amount of top players at this tournement it reminds me of the field at Dubai...who won that again?

EDIT:

http://tennisworld.typepad.com/thewrap/2008/06/queens-dispatch.html

Roddick is hitting with Richard Gasquet, sans cap but with new coach Guillaume Peyre, who's had plenty of experience teaming with another highly talented though seemingly mentally fragile artisan, Marcos Baghdatis. They play a few games and finish things off with a tiebreak. Peyre let's out a ``magnifique'' when a forehand winner gets things going. The joy is short lived and Roddick, popping his serve, prevails 7-2.

Afterward, John Roddick is free to chat; the Roddick team arrived in England a few days ago. A combination of shoulder and back injuries kept brother Andy out of Roland Garros and Hamburg.

``Andy's just been practising, working hard, rehabbing his shoulder a little bit,'' John Roddick says. ``Schedule wise it's just been a lot of training, so nothing really fancy. I mean, you saw him, he was serving really well. The only worry is if it creeps back a little bit or regresses, but it is what it is.''

The shoulder still gets tired, although the soreness is gone.

``Well, I think he's there, but it's just a matter of going out now and seeing,'' he continues when asked if the shoulder is 100 percent. ``Today was really good in that he was able to serve as good as he did. And actually I think it's helped him with his location because he slowed it down and didn't serve big for a while. Now all of a sudden his location is really good.''

...

A serious foodie, Ginepri joined Roddick and Fish at the noted Mr. Chow's restaurant in west London.

Roddick Survives Early Scare to Overcome Ginepri

Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt both kept their hopes of a record fifth title at The Artois Championships alive after contrasting wins in the second round at The Queen’s Club on Wednesday.

Defending champion Roddick survived an early scare against fellow American Robby Ginepri before booking his place in the third round with a 6-7(6), 6-1, 6-1 victory, while Hewitt dropped only five games against Belgian Xavier Malisse.

Roddick, who was playing his first match in just over a month after suffering a shoulder injury in Rome, recovered well after losing the first set against Ginepri, who reached the fourth round at the French Open last week.

“After the first set, I thought it was actually really good,” said Roddick, who has now won 24 of 26 matches at The Queen’s Club since making his debut in 2001. “It was a tale of kind of two matches. Almost the first set I was feeling like I was a little bit behind on everything, a little bit slow, just from not having played. The next two I actually pick it up and played probably better than I thought I could right now, considering.”

The four-time champion suffered his injury during the semifinals of the Masters Series event in Rome last at the beginning of May, retiring against Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka after just three games. Having returned to the United States for treatment, Roddick says he is still taking his rehabilitation on a day-by-day basis.

“We'll see how it's pulled up,” added the former World No. 1. “I haven't practiced for more than an hour at a given time. We got through three sets and I was feeling okay and I actually served decent. So hopefully it will pull up okay tomorrow.”

Roddick’s recovery will be a welcome sight for his fans and for his fiancée Brooklyn Decker, here in London with the American this year. “[I’ve been] driving my fiancée crazy. Too many Scrabble games. It was horrible. I'm not really good at sitting around doing nothing. I could be the top five most annoying people ever when they have to sit around and do nothing.” :haha:

Hewitt, who along with Roddick has dominated this event since 2000 with four titles of his own, booked his place in the third round against Paul-Henri Mathieu with a comfortable 6-3, 6-2 victory over Malisse.

Elsewhere on day three, fifth seed and last year’s Wimbledon semifinalist Richard Gasquet claimed only his second win since April with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Italy’s Simone Bolelli.

The two-time Nottingham Open champion will now meet Mario Ancic for a place in the quarterfinals.

Q. What aspect of your game requires the most adjustment coming to grass? What do you work on most?
ANDY RODDICK: Well, fortunately my game translates to grass pretty well, as opposed to like a clay court or something like, that it's not as much of, you know, tinkering and trying to figure out the best possible way.
I like to hit the ball pretty flat :o:scratch::help::tape: and through the court and serve and I can use my slice. Fortunately it translates pretty well. I think the biggest adjustment is just the movement. You know, it's totally different than hard or a clay court.

Q. With the shoulder, is it a case of you still receiving treatment or do you just play and hope that it's fine the following day?
ANDY RODDICK: Both. You know, you play and you hope it's fine, then you treat it a lot. You know, we'll see how it's pulled up. I haven't practiced for more than an hour at a given time. So, you know, we got through three sets and I was feeling okay and I actually served decent. So, you know, hopefully it will pull up okay tomorrow.

Q. How do you work on the movement aspect? Is it just something that comes as you play matches?
ANDY RODDICK: Well, it's just learned. My first two years here, you know, it's not like a hard court where you kind of really grind into the court and stop and start really quick. You know, you kind of have to almost run through your shots a little bit more. It's more of almost like a rhythm thing on grass.
I think it's just something that's learned.

Q. Given the restricted amount of practice you're allowed, are you going to view after each match how the shoulder's reacting just to gauge yourself? You want to be in the best possible shape for Wimbledon, but you don't want to not defend properly here either.
ANDY RODDICK: My mind is just to play through this tournament. You know, going into Wimbledon with no preparation isn't ideal. And I think I really do need this week. And I think we have it under control now. I've been hitting, you know, four, five days in a row, and it's pulled up all right since I've been here.
Hopefully we're on top of it. But we just kind of -- you know, it's going to be a little bit here and there. I'm obviously going to be a little bit more sensitive to it just because of the nature of it. But, you know, I definitely need this week to prepare.

Q. What will you do next week? Are you practicing?
ANDY RODDICK: Yeah.

Q. Just talk us through the time scale between pulling up at Rome, then you were saying the other day it was a compensatory injury that kept you out of the French. How long did you not touch a racquet for?
ANDY RODDICK: A couple weeks.:awww: Especially I've never had a problem with my shoulder before in eight years. :awww: It's probably been the best part of me physically. Especially with the way I play, I think if we were going to err, we were going to err on the side of being overly cautious with it, which I think long-term was a smart way to go.
My goal was just to be able to be ready to play here. We accomplished that. I feel healthy. You know, the strength is coming back. It's tough to shut it down. I didn't hit too many serves before Rome. Then for five days, I really haven't served much, except for a week in the last six week or so. It will come back.
But, yeah, we definitely erred on the side of caution.

Q. When did you start hitting again before coming over here?
ANDY RODDICK: It was touch-and-go. A couple weeks ago. You know, one day on, two days off. You kind of have to work back into it.
I hadn't played a set until I got here.

Q. That was just hitting in Austin?
ANDY RODDICK: Uh-huh, yeah. (he was in NYC at least most of the time, right? LOL)

Q. How would you rate your form compared to the same sort of time period going into Wimbledon other years?
ANDY RODDICK: This year, I've played some of the best stuff I have in the last couple when I've been on the court. And there have been times this year where I played very well. You know, I always feel like I'm gonna be able to grind out matches, kind of figure out a way to win sometimes. But I've been in good form a couple times this year.
So I feel probably a little bit better than the last couple years.

Q. Do you drop your tension for the grass court season?
ANDY RODDICK: I did this year just because of dealing with the shoulder or anything. I don't know if I had as much back there as I'd like. I'm still building it up. I think the ball's a little bit heavier on the grass, so I have this year.

Q. How big a factor was playing here, the fact that you hold the title?
ANDY RODDICK: I don't think it was a factor. Obviously I love playing here. Had it been closer to the day of or something, maybe that would have played a factor or played a role. By not being able to play the French, it gave us a pretty considerable timetable to deal with. I was always going to try to play here.

Q. Those days you weren't hitting, what were you doing?
ANDY RODDICK: Driving my fiancée crazy (laughter). Too many Scrabble games. It was horrible. I'm not really good at sitting around doing nothing. I could be the top five most annoying people ever when they have to sit around and do nothing.

Q. Are you a good Scrabble player?
ANDY RODDICK: Very, very, very average. Limited amount of school in my life. :haha:

Q. Did you get the two-letter words?
ANDY RODDICK: I got the two-letter words.

Q. You're slightly above average.
ANDY RODDICK: That's what I aim for, slightly above average. You got to have goals (smiling). :rolls:

Q. Does being in London again, putting on this jacket, you feel comfortable in it, does that keep you...
ANDY RODDICK: Well, it's great. It's great coming back to a place where you have great memories. I really enjoy this club. We don't really have clubs like this in the States, so it's great to come here and kind of see the history of it, even check out the real tennis courts, kind of where tennis originated, came from. You know, I think it's nice to have an appreciation for that also.

Q. Have you tried playing there?
ANDY RODDICK: No. You know, I walk around and most people would probably think I'm decent at it. I just want to keep that stigma (laughter).

Q. Do you think the Wimbledon draw is any more open than the last few years?
ANDY RODDICK: Possibly. I mean, I don't know if Roger's been as dominant as he has the last couple of years. But that being said, he's still been, you know, ridiculously good. So I think more so than even dealing with Roger is just, you know, the emergence of someone like Djokovic, Rafa having proven himself on grass. Even after he made the finals two years ago, I remember people saying, Let's see how he does the next year. He's obviously proven himself a very good grass court player.
So I think by other people just improving maybe it's affected the level a little bit.

Q. You have to see yourself up there with those two or three at the top?
ANDY RODDICK: I think so. I think if you were to pick five guys to win, I'd like to think of myself in those five.

Q. Yesterday Sam Querrey was obviously disappointed with his result. When you started on grass, you didn't like the surface. He's going through the same thing at the moment. How many years did it actually take you to feel you were comfortable and like the surface?
ANDY RODDICK: Well, I felt okay. '01 I did all right. I made the semi of Nottingham, lost to Goran at Wimbledon the year he won. I lost to Rusedski when he was a pretty formidable opponent.
Sam will be fine. It's just kind of the subtleties on grass. Like I was talking about it, little chip shots, keeping the ball down, driving through it. It's tough because it's just a matter of getting through that first round, that second round, to get matches, then you're comfortable.
I was able to do that here for the first time probably in 2003. Then since then it's been a lot easier adjustment when I come back. It's just a matter of him getting a couple matches in and he'll improve tons.

Q. Those shots you talked about, is that stuff that you just learned as the points go on or is it stuff you work on with coaches?
ANDY RODDICK: Probably both. Yeah, probably both. At the end of the day, you can work on stuff as much as you want. You can never replicate a match situation in practice. You can try as hard as you want. But bottom line is, I've played practice sets in the last three or four days. It's just far from actually going out there and doing it with all the surroundings of a crowd, and the court's a little bit different.
I think it's just important for someone like Sam to get a couple of matches in. Even if it's just a mindset, it will change it for him.

Q. Do you find this idea that because Roger took such a beating on clay, somehow when he walks onto a grass court he's any less formidable?
ANDY RODDICK: No. I think that would be irresponsible journalism just from the fact that they're completely different. That would be like -- I don't even know a proper analogy.
The guy's won Wimbledon five times in a row. What else does he need to do? If that doesn't answer any questions, you know, hell, I must really suck if he's getting questioned about how he's feeling about grass. If I was him, I'd be feeling really well. I'd be feeling really good.

Q. I meant more from the mental side of it. We know he can play on grass, but...
ANDY RODDICK: Look at the years he's won. One of years he won Wimbledon, he lost third round of Roland Garros. Came in and ran through the tournament.
Yeah, I think more so than kind of dealing with Roger and what he had to do in that final, I mean, he had to play high risk. You know, he might have gotten more game staying back and rallying with Rafa. But he's the best in the world at that. That's like, you know, Chinese water torture: a little drop of water on your head long enough starts hurting. It's like banging your head against the wall.
He had to play high risk. That creates more errors. It's going to go one way to either it makes it really competitive or another way where it's rough - and it was rough.
You know, people lose sight of the fact that he's making the final year after year on a surface that probably his least favorite. I mean, I think that's pretty impressive.

Q. With that sort of thing in mind, do you therefore forget all about last year's match with Gasquet in the quarterfinals? Is that something you don't think about at all?
ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, I wish (smiling).
No, I mean, what makes you forget about it is by getting there and getting through it. I haven't forgotten about that match last year. You know, I haven't forgotten about the successes I've had on grass either. I think it all plays into it.

That was tough for Mardy - you never want to win a match like that. With the time difference I miss his matches on the other hand if they are this fast I am not missing much. OK back to Halle!!!!

Roddick expects Federer to prove a point at Wimbledon

LONDON, June 12: Andy Roddick believes Roger Federer's French Open humiliation against Rafael Nadal will only make him more determined to win Wimbledon.

Nadal handed Federer a three-set thrashing in the final at Roland Garros last weekend and the Spaniard fancies his chances of repeating the trick at the All-England Club.

But Roddick, twice a Wimbledon runner-up, expects Federer to be fired up to prove a point as he tries to win the title for the sixth time.

"They're separate events. Playing the final on red clay against Nadal is not the same as playing on a grass court. It's just two entirely different things. If anything, it's going to annoy him to where he wants to prove everybody wrong," Roddick said.

"Maybe if he wins it six times, people won't question him. People are sitting here saying, 'Can Roger win Wimbledon?' Yes, he can. He's won it five times.

"I understand that it makes a good story. But I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Roger's pretty mentally strong and is capable of overcoming a defeat to win a tennis tournament.

"He's still the favorite no matter how you look at it." Roddick, who advanced to the quarter-finals at Queen's on Thursday when his opponent Mardy Fish pulled out with a foot injury, knows how hard it is to beat Federer on grass.

Both his Wimbledon final defeats were at the hands of the Swiss, with the second prompting him to say he threw the kitchen sink at him, only to see Federer throw the bathtub back.

Roddick joked that he is planning to bring the heavy artilery this year: "It's just a matter of what I can lift. We'll see."

The former US Open champion plans to meet former coach Jimmy Connors at Wimbledon to prove there is no lingering ill-feeling after their split in March.

"He just called it but there were no hard feelings. There was no ill will. You know, I'm sure we'll get together if he's coming over to do commentary," Roddick said.

"Jimmy was great at helping me get my confidence back when I was kind of down and out a couple years ago, when I wasn't playing well. I think it took someone of his pedigree to kind of help me get back."

If they gave out rankings for interviews Andy would be the dominant world number one.

So, it's Andy vs Andy again on grass. This ought to be good. Vamos A-Rod.

7-6, (ret.)

An interview with:
ANDY RODDICK

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. Disappointing to win that way?
ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, it's just unfortunate. You know, for a number of reasons. Obviously, Mardy is a friend. I don't want him to be hurt. I want to see him be okay. Next week might be a question, but hopefully for Wimbledon.
I thought we were having a pretty good match. I thought the level was pretty good. You know, it's disappointing in that regard, too.

Q. Is it disappointing also because you'd have liked a bit longer of a game, more time on court?
ANDY RODDICK: No. You know, me coming off of an injury, you know, we were out there for about an hour, so that's about right for me.

Q. (Question regarding pieces in the media indicating the injured shoulder, but that it was not hampering play too much.)
ANDY RODDICK: That's fine. That's fair. I hit it pretty well yesterday and today. So it's pulling up all right.

Q. When it comes to having to play five sets, are you confident?
ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, I'll be fine. It's only going to get better over the next week and a half. So, you know, I feel like I'm ahead of where I might have thought I was going to be a week and a half ago.

Q. Four wins, where are your priorities between winning this again and getting your shoulder moving on and ready for Wimbledon?
ANDY RODDICK: Well, I mean, first and foremost, you have to be healthy to play Wimbledon. If I win here and can't play Wimbledon, that's not exactly an option that I'm excited about.
But, you know, hopefully we can have both. I mean, that would be great. That's what we're shooting for.

Q. Do you consciously perhaps take anything off the serve or is it full out?
ANDY RODDICK: No, I mean, right now I'm trying to hit it. It's not going in probably as big as it normally does. But that being said, I think I served close to 80% today, so that helps.
It's just gonna get better. If you don't serve for three or four weeks, it's gonna take a little bit to get the pop back. It's not because I'm in pain that it's not coming off. It will just take a little bit of time to get those three, four, five miles an hour back.

Q. Can you give us a little bit on your future possible opponents.
ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, it's kind of going to be -- they're not really similar at all. You know, Gulbis takes a swing at every ball and kind of just goes for broke. You know, I feel Andy's a lot more kind of methodical and is able to vary his game a lot more. Maybe doesn't hit the ball as big as Gulbis, but has a lot more options.

Q. How have things been working out for you with your brother as your coach since the split with Jimmy?
ANDY RODDICK: Well, he's been my coach since before my split with Jimmy, too. I feel that gets lost in the shuffle a lot of times because it's not as fun of a story.
No, it's fine. I'm happy with the way things are going right now.

Q. Obviously you're a very experienced player now. How much do you actually pick into what your brother helps you with and how much do you draw from your own experiences?
ANDY RODDICK: I draw a lot from my own experiences. I mean, I don't think it's rocket science to figure out what I need to do to win matches. You know, Jimmy was great at helping me get my confidence back when I was kind of down and out a couple years ago, when I wasn't playing well. I think it took someone of his pedigree to kind of help me get back.
And now I feel like I'm at the point where I'm able to know what I have to do to go out and win tennis matches.

Q. Was that part of the reason why it came to its end?
ANDY RODDICK: No. I mean, he just called it. But there were no hard feelings. There was no ill will. You know, I'm sure we'll get together if he's coming over to do commentary.

Q. Do you feel strong going forward to Wimbledon now?
ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, I feel fine.

Q. You were saying yesterday you hoped you'd be among the five put down as a possible Wimbledon winner. Apart from the three obvious ones and yourself, who would be the fourth?
ANDY RODDICK: I don't know. It's a tough one. There's a couple of names you have to look for. Obviously, Andy Murray, he knows how to play on grass. I don't think it would shock anybody if Lleyton made a run, if he was in the semis. I don't know if that would surprise anybody just because of his past success, the fact that he knows how to play on this stuff. Then you run into a bunch of guys who can beat anybody on a given day.
But I think probably those are my other two.

Q. The Federer thing, obviously the guy won the thing five times, you said.
ANDY RODDICK: I didn't say that; it's factual information. It's not just my opinion.

Q. There were questions about his ability to win it again.
ANDY RODDICK: To win Wimbledon?

Q. My question actually was, for somebody who wins four games in the final of a Grand Slam, is it likely to linger in his mind a lot?
ANDY RODDICK: They're separate events. Playing the final on red clay against Nadal is not the same as playing on a grass court. It's just two entirely different things. And, if anything, it's going to piss him off to where he wants to prove everybody wrong.
Maybe if he wins it six times, people won't question him. People are sitting here saying, Can Roger win Wimbledon? Yes, he can. He's won it five times. I don't understand. I understand that it makes a good story. But I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Roger's pretty mentally strong, you know, and is capable of overcoming a defeat to win a tennis tournament.
He's still the favorite no matter how you look at it.

Q. You were quoted once after a Wimbledon final saying you threw the kitchen sink at him and he chucked the bathtub at you. Do you need to throw anything bigger at him these days to win?
ANDY RODDICK: It's just a matter of what I can lift. You know, we'll see. I don't see the point in me talking about what I have to do to Roger at Wimbledon when we're three weeks away. I think it's getting a little ahead of ourselves.
