Will Roddick make it the Sharapova/Roddick Wimbledon 2004 sweep that I'm looking for?

Yes! I hope so! Good luck Andy! :D He's more match tough than Federer is because he plays closes sets and matches than Federer does and that could play a crucial role in the final. But I sure hope Roddick brings his best serve to the final. Because without his serve clicking he won't win and I won't get what I want and that is Maria Sharapova and Andy Roddick as the 2004 Ladies and Gentleman's singles champions. :D

I thought about it as well, they would make a cute couple;)...something like Brad Pitt/Jennifer Aniston in tennis. Í´ve just read Sharapova´s post-match interview and she was asked with whom she would rather attend the ball. She was very diplomatic and said that both of them had girlfriends...smart...I would have screamed out loud if I were her, lol.

Yes Eve, Maria was very diplomatic when asked about who she would like to attend the champions ball with. The IMG media training she has taken has prepared her well for questions from the media.

I'll be interested to see Maria and Andy go to the ball together. But I doubt Andy can make it, I hope though.

I'm sure Roger's happy that he'll have a hot date this time instead of the hideous ape he had last year

I hope you are not racial stereotyping there with that ape comment? Don't get me wrong I am not someone that should be called a fan of Serena Williams, I was interested in some clarification about that with the ape comment.

   I like your dreams, but with Andy, I think it is a VERY big dream indeed. :)

I think Andy has no chance in this match, and I am only hoping he won't be totally humiliated. :)

It's good to dream and it doesn't cost a thing, but not all dreams come true.

Oh god no, I think Halle Berry and Janet Jackson and Tyra Banks are hot. Look at Serena's face. ugh. My friends and I almost puked when we saw her in the SI swimsuit addition

Wasn't that song "Baby Got Back" written about Serena Williams?

Not quite, it's a play on that theme.

gbpgbpo2:
you could have called Serena "hideous" (you're entitled to your opinion even if i don't agree with it). the "ape" part was truly unecessary and has nuances of racism that you may not have intended but which you shoud still be aware of.

having said that, i hope that the Duck is denied the honor of escorting Maria to the ball. ;)

I'm fairly new here and I haven't figured out why Andy is known as Duck or Duckboy. Could someone explain?

1 roger is more match tough than andy. his cool calm presence will win him more matches than roddick's bombastic wastes of energy...

2 maria was flirting with roger during the preseason hong kong exhibition tournament. so i wouldn't be too sure she'd rather go with roddick...

are not you roddick fan?
saying things like that you should be ashamed of yourself, so if roddick loses in 5 close sets its better then losing in straight sets?
any loss is bad and i sure hope roddick, his coach or anyone around him doesnt have such a losers perspective

Cat, I am with you! Andy and Masha, that'd be hot. But I am sure Masha doesnt like either of them! And I highly doubt Maria would flirt with Roger at some exhibition

That's "Menage a trois". Frommage means "cheese".

Just to add to that question, why is Roddick nicknamed duck? I presume it has something to do with his baseball cap that looks like a duck's bill but I would also like some clarification on the matter.

A while back, a poster on WTAworld made a thread comparing Andy to Donald Duck. That's how it came to be.

gbpg, that ape comment was totally unecessary. As for TC calling Andy Roddick duckboy, I think it's because she thinks his mouth resembles that of a ducks mouth. I believe TC's duckboy nickname is meant to be humorous and not slanderous the way you probably meant your ape comment about Serena Williams.

Star, you were srong about Roddick not having a chance at beating Roger Federe in the Gentleman's Wimbledon final. Not only did Roddick have a chance to win I am disasapointed in him for letting the 2004 Wimbledon title slip away. :(

Well after being offline for 2 days I'll now post my final comments on Wimbledon. It turns out Federer got to escort Maria Sharapova to the Wimbledon ball and not Roddick. And Roddick was upset about that. ;)

Congrats to Federer on his second Wimbledon title and condolences to Roddick for letting this golden opportunity slip through his fingers. :( The last rain delay really hurt Roddick. But rain delays have both helped and hurt Roddick this year at Wimbledon and in his career. Last years U.S Open is a good example how the rain helped Roddick stay better rested than his opponents. This year in the Wimbledon final the rain hurt Roddick. Those are the breaks. And that's life as a tennis player.

While I am dissapointed Roddcik lost the Wimbledon final his losing the final did open the door for Sharapova to be on the cover of this weeks issue of Sports Illustrated. If Roddick had won Wimbledon I don't think Sharapova would be on the cover of this weeks Sports Illustrated. They probably would have put Roddick on the cover instead.

And let's hope the major Wimbledon show courts have retractable roofs at some point in the near future. :)

Nope the NBC and ESPN commentators were taking bets on MAria being on the cover of SI before the mens final even happened :haha:. Pretty girls sell magazines bought by men not young guys. Andy wasn't even on the cover of SI when he won the USO, he was a little pic in the corner.

tall one, i was just asking why he was called duckboy, i didn't think anyone was insulting by calling him duckboy, and me asking this was totally unrelated to someone asking me if the serena comment was racist

1. Maria was seen flirting with Ferrero as well during that tournament and later in a AO party as well.

2. I read in Roger's post match interview(wimbledon.org) that dancing of the champions is not there any more.

I'm sure Duckboy is just a humorous play on Roddick's name that TC came up with.
