Who here is going to beat him? Volandri? :tape:

Come on, change to something sensible.

Edit: whoops, overlooked Almagro. Still.

Edit2: I think the only sensible options are 2nd round, F, or W.

Edit3: And I realize it's a joke with the scary smiley, I just think the joke should be something like 3rd round.

But then again it's me. I was the one who bet on Nalbandian against Fed, remember. :o.

I'm not sure here, though. I really doubt he's going to tank, so I'll say W for now until I think about it more...that way I won't forget and get left out altogether.

Rules of the Competition:

- In each tournament Rafa plays, people predict in which round he will lose.
- The posters that picked the correct round will receive points equal to the race points awarded by ATP to the winner of the tournament.
- No predictions will be accepted after the beginning of Rafa's first match. You can change your prediction until that time.
- At the end of the season the poster(s) with the highest score will win the ...Metis Invitational Trophy :spit:. I'll have to think about the design of the trophy but there is plenty of time for that.

Restrictions: Rafa and his immediate family and friends are not allowed to participate in this contest! :p

Good win over Starace. Please lose in the next round, Rafa. Barcelona ain't worth it.

Tennis ace Nadal fears he'll eventually cave under clay pressure

Rafael Nadal continued his storming spring with a win at the Barcelona Open on Wednesday but said he expects to eventually run out of gas due to a crowded clay season this Olympic year.

"It will be impossible for me to keep a top level over four straight weeks," said the three-time Roland Garros champion after producing a 6-4, 6-2 second-round defeat of Potito Starace.

Nadal said that the Barcelona crowds will keep him excited this week as he continues the long-odds job of trying to defend Barcelona and Rome titles before aiming to lift a fourth straight title at Roland Garros.

"I cannot expect to keep at top level through every week," said last weekend's winner of a fourth consecutive Monte Carlo crown. "It's more psychological than physical.

"You can't focus all the time, every week."

The popular victory at the Real club over the Italian ranked 45th, left Nadal with an enviable 99 wins out of his last 100 clay matches since winning his first Monte Carlo title in 2005.

Spain's Mallorcan tennis hero fought with the persistent Starace in the first set before breaking open the match at 3-1 on his way to victory in 78 minutes with four breaks of serve.

The world number two next faces 16th-seeded compatriot Feliciano Lopez, a winner over fellow Spaniard Alberto Martin 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.

"It will not be easy, his serve is big and that can give me problems," said Nadal, whose 28 wins leads the ATP this season.

Nadal lost his only Barcelona match in 2003 against Alex Corretja in the second round. He has beaten Juan Carlos Ferrero, Tommy Robredo and Guillermo Canas in the past three finals.

Why would you guys want him to withdraw from Hamburg rather than tank Barcelona? More Points in Hamburg...

I say tank!

Cos hamburg is $hit, crappy courts, crappy conditions, crappy a$$holes who win it...

And anyways the place doesnt suit rafas game at all, i think rafa's only chances of winning hamburg would be during the middle or beggining of the Clay court season cos hed have to be close to 100% physically and psychologically to win that event cos of how the courts dont take spin very well, and they are extremley slow, it all works against his game.

Anyways i dont think he would ever tank BARCELONA, i mean "it is one of the most important tournaments of the world no?"

That's a good mantra indeed! :worship:
Let's send him positive vibes for tomorrow! :wavey:

Right on. Now if we can get all the Rafa fans who read or post here to join in he will be blown away by the love and support.

VAMOS RAFAEL, VAMOS.

I'm pretty sure, if he plays like shit, all the positive vibes in the world won't help him.

Gremelmayr. Giant Killer. A man on a hot streak. Unintimidated. Free from pressure. Big lefty serve.

Play like what?? Unheard of. Not going to happen. Positive vibes in mass, works. Giant Killer is such an over used and abused term in tennis. Vamos Rafa.

Because him carrying a shoulder injury into Rome/Hamburg/Roland Garros/Queens/Wimbledon puts me a little on edge. I know! I'm crazy! We should be delighted with the shoulder strapping :worship:

Nadal, carrying shoulder injury? Is Nadal having problems with his shoulder? Is he injured? I haven't read anything about it.

Rafael Nadal of Spain is taken to be thrown into the Real club swimming pool after winning his fourth Barcelona title after defeating David Ferrer of Spain in three sets during the Open Sabadell Atlantico Barcelona 2008 Tennis at the Real Club on May 4, 2008 in Barcelona, Spain. It?s a tradition for members of the Real Club of Barcelona to be thrown into the pool after their victory.
