To be honest I don't know either Cat  :awww: I was at work and in a meeting, so couldn't even follow the scores  When I got home, I saw Misha had retired, but there is nothing on GM about it, and they haven't mentioned a reason on Sky TV either  I'm assuming it had something to do with the injury he got in DC practice, but of course if I find out anything definite later I'll post it here. Misha

Every player has ups and downs, maybe this is a down, he doesn't feel well (bodywise) let's look at the bright side : he may come back in form, and he has not so much to defend this summer.. maybe I'm too optimistic right there

No - actually you're being very sensible I think :) Tennis players are only human beings - they have good and bad times the same as everyone else. might be mental, might be physical, might be personal stuff  He went though a really good time, now is time for something a little less spectacular - it's just life :)

Youzhny, who retired during his opening match at Monte Carlo with a neck injury, may be out for a month, according to Russian tennis chief Shamil Tarpishchev. As a result, Russia may not field a team for the World Team Cup at Dusseldorf.

Haven't heard anything definite, no - though I think it is quite likely that Misha will withdraw from Rome next week to give his neck more time to heal, at least according to this link, which I believe has already been posted in the tournament thread http://sport.gazeta.ru/sport/2008/04/a_2709290.shtml

There, let's get ready for a bad Roland Garros. With no preparation on clay, and no clay court confidence, (and a down in his general confidence) I'm not sure Misha will go far in RG. unless a miracle happens, which is always possible with Misha.. but somehow I doubt it  What did SHE do to him ?? (that's the obvious and hidden reason behing his neck injury, can't you tell ?!!!)

Well - whatever she did - I hope he had fun :)

No - seriously - I am sad for Misha, but, let's be honest, - clay is not his best or favoured surface - so if there is a "good" time for him to be injured - then better now than in the US hardcourt swing, or even on the grass, where he is more likely to gain good points. I hope this injury is not too serious, but I do think he needs to take good time and rest properly - or it may happen again later in the year

Get well soon Misha

You and me both - I'm far too old! Occasionally I feel moved to go there and say something in support of Djokovic - and then I spend the next 2 weeks wishing I hadn't bothered and avoiding the place  Trouble is though - I don't much like popcorn, - but I guess I can always have a gin and tonic to watch the fun instead. And I'm sure any contributions you make in the Dima Forum would be much appreciated - especially any shirtless photos from any US tourneys you go to later in the year ;) We are very shallow there - and like the famous monicaselesfan, we love our naked/half-naked pics  Have a nice evening :wavey:

Russians into the Arag's final : MISHA, DIMA AND IGOR !!!!!

Russia Ousts Germany, Targets Sweden in Final

In its first event appearance since consecutive runner-up showings from 2000-02, Russia succeeded in finishing atop the Blue Group standings to earn a return trip to the final at the ARAG ATP World Team Championship.

Last year’s Davis Cup finalists first ended host nation Germany's title hopes on Friday at the Rochusclub as Dmitry Tursunov clinched the final round robin tie with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win over Nicolas Kiefer, and then received help when Italy came back to defeat Spain.

Kiefer, who had defeated Tursunov in their previous two meetings, double-faulted at match point to seal Germany's fate. He managed to convert on just one of his 13 break point chances in the two hour, 30 minute match, while Tursunov won two of four.

"My defeat was very disappointing not only to me but also to the team and the fans," said Kiefer. "I am training very hard throughout the year, invest a lot into the sport, and then it is of course upsetting when I can transport it into the game. I am lacking consistency too often."

Tursunov, playing in his first career singles match at the Rochusclub, then teamed up with compatriot Mikhail Youzhny to complete the sweep of the German team, defeating Christopher Kas and Philipp Petzschner 7-6(2), 6-3.

Russia took the 1-0 lead against Germany on Thursday when Igor Andreev handed Philipp Kohlschreiber his first loss of the week, 6-4, 6-3.

Kohlschreiber entered his match winless in five career matches against Andreev, and once again failed to solve his Russian opponent. Andreev broke the German to secure the first set, and broke one more time to take the 2-0 lead in the second.

The two breaks were enough for the win as Andreev saved all five break points he faced.

Andreev has now won nine straight matches against German players, a streak that began in 2005 when he defeated Kohlschreiber in the third round at New Haven.

The World No. 28 made a winning start on his Dusseldorf debut when he beat Italian Simone Bolelli in three sets Monday, but lost to Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday.

I watched the Misha match against Robin and it was not a good show :(
tomorrow he has to play his first round in Paris.
It's not an easy moment for him but we know he's like a phoenix, when you are not waiting for him he can surprise you with a returned happiness of play
Hope in tomorrow: not a tough match, just the occasion to try to play better...again
