Aqeel Khan to play in New Delhi

By Our Sports Correspondent

KARACHI, April 19: Pakistan’s ace tennis player Aqeel Khan will fly to New Delhi in the second week of next month to compete in back-to-back ATP Challenge tournaments there.

The first event will be played from May 12 to 19 which will be immediately followed by the next.

Aqeel said he plans to leave for the Indian capital around May 10.

According to him, celebrity Aisam-Ul-Haq who recently helped Pakistan win the Asia Oceania zone Group III

Davis Cup at Tehran is also due to feature in the Delhi contests.

Qureshi would do well to play New Delhi and skip RG qualies. He could do that but he should go to French Open Qualifying, he can play on Clay as he showed in the Davis Cup, okay it wasnt against the best clay court players but he did win confortable!!

Could I ask when you will get the French Open Qualifying List??

embarassing enough that he had to play a third set against a player outside the 200 atp...and then he lost in the tie break...so thats weak for me. final was a must, muller reached the quarterfinals, last week the finals were a must too as the second seed, he lost in the first round to a qualifier...he just doesnt work hard enough to get back where he was once...but his main sponsor in Luxembourg said that he HAS to get back on track with better results, otherwise no money anymore...thats the reason also why muller got this new coach nascimento

Do you know how hard he works? Reading your posts during the last two or three weeks shows me you assume he doesn't work hard enough. If you haven't followed the practice of a player for weeks or at least for one week you are not supposed to say a player doesn't work hard enough. :)

GoMullerGo
05-22-2008, 04:33 PM
I know him personally, I saw him partying, being drunk often enough. I know friends of him, Luxembourg is small, so just believe me, he may work hard but players at that level work HARDER! I know trainings partners of him while he was/is in Luxembourg. They said that after an hour of practice he said: ok its enough, I dont need more than that. When he goes out clubbing here, he smokes even...he is just not taking it serious enough and thats a FACT!

like Sela :p earning points in these events.

Sela hasn't been doing great at the ATP level.

Lu could get into the top-50 in the next few months, last year he was injured around this time and didn't do much until August, so he has very few points to defend.

He seems to hate clay and grass, we should seem him in the ATP US hardcourt season this summer I guess. In early 2007 he looked promising winning a few matches at ATP level before he got injured.

Nathaliia
05-23-2008, 11:12 PM
Yeah he has got some smooth shots and surely can beat some players from the main tour. So, Hajek of the year is this time not a claycourter but Lu :p

However, Bellucci and Edu have been doing great as well.

TankingTheSet

Also Granollers and Ivo Minar, who both are close to the top-50, but I think they are both in poor shape right now (not fit).

Last year 33-year-old Werner Eschauer was also a good example, he almost reached the top-50 with challenger results and one final in Amersfoortchallenger. He has barely won a match since.

Wow Go, getting close to top 100 ranking!

Lu :o very bad luck in this final...apparently 3/4 rackets strings were broken during the first 2 sets...his last racket which was freshly strung broke during 2:1 in final set.

after that, an Indian player lend him a racket to complete the rest of the match.
