I heard that Aisam Qureshi had some problems with Pakistan tennis federation recently and as you may know in the past 2-3 years he didnt play for Pakistan in Davis Cup and that was the main reason Pakistan relegated to Group III in Asia Oceanic zone. But he needed warrant from Pakistan tennis federation to participate in Olympics and they told him that he must play for Pakistan in Davis Cup then they would give him warrant for olympics and last week he played in Tehran and Pakistan easily won all matches.

I Didnt know about the Olympics thing he had to play against Iran so they would let him go to the Olympics

Qureshi is a great player, watch out for him at Wimbledon!!

by the way, gilles muller announced that he wont play RG and wont play at all clay tournaments this season....sucks that finland chosed to play on clay at davis cup in july in finland...nieminen will still lose to muller on clay without muller playing this season on clay....lol ( nooooooooooot )

It's a wise move from Gilles, in my opinion. He can play on hard and then grass. I saw him last year at Wimbledon qualies and he played pretty well, not worse than I had seen him play before when his ranking was higher.

Yh he played Halle last year but i this time i hope he comes to Queens. If he does well here and beats 1 or 2 top players he could get a Wild-Card into Wimbledon. J.W.Tsonga he beat L.Hewitt in the 2nd round who was defending champion and the lost a tight 3 set match 2 M.Cilic in the 3rd round, he got a Wild-Card so u never know. As did M.Cilic he beat T.Henman & made it to the Quarter Finals losing 6-4 7-6 to A.Roddick & he got a Wild-Card.
So if Qureshi can get good results in Queens they most think of giving him a Wild-Card.

Qureshi & Bopanna are a strong team. They have proven that on the Challenger Tour already. Last year Rohan played with Lovro and they were also quite a good team, actually. But they still lost to Flavio and Economidis  Despite MPs. Nerve-wrecking match, really.

Aqeel Khan to play in New Delhi

By Our Sports Correspondent

KARACHI, April 19: Pakistan’s ace tennis player Aqeel Khan will fly to New Delhi in the second week of next month to compete in back-to-back ATP Challenge tournaments there.

The first event will be played from May 12 to 19 which will be immediately followed by the next.

Aqeel said he plans to leave for the Indian capital around May 10.

According to him, celebrity Aisam-Ul-Haq who recently helped Pakistan win the Asia Oceania zone Group III

Davis Cup at Tehran is also due to feature in the Delhi contests.

Change of plans, it seems :p

To be honest, Rettenmaier is not a clown. He was the most dangerous of the qualifiers. Remember last year he got to the final of the Manchester Challenger completely out of the blue, after injuries. He hasn't been playing that much, but still I would want to avoid him in any 1R on a fast surface.

Report on boggo/pless :

In other quarterfinal, Dane Kristian Pless came from behind to register a hard-fought 2-6,7-5, 7-5 victory over Alex Bogdanovic of Britain. An error-prone Pless struggled with his forehand in particular as he sprayed ball all over the court in the first set.

Just when it looked Bogdanovic will close the match in straight sets, breaking Pless in tenth game of the second set to make it five-all, the Dane broke back as the Briton double-faulted. Pless won the next game to force a third set.

In the decider, Pless was the dominant player, playing with confidence and hitting fluently down the line. His aggressive play forced Bagdanovic to go on the defensive. Still, it was not all that easy for the Dane to take the set.
