The languages thread

I just had this idea, don´t know if it´s going to work, but here it goes.

The idea is that everybody puts a word that they want to share of their own language, and the translation to english next to it.
Then the others can add more translatios to the same word or add more new words in their languages.

So i´ll start with a few from spanish, my language... ;)

Amor - love
Suerte - good luck

Keep´em coming, boys and girls from all over the world.... :)

I'm fond of untranslatables...

POLISH PEOPLE!! What does 'radioukacz' mean?
In english what does 'GOOGLY' mean?

Serendipity- English word that means the ability to find sudden but fortunate solutions

RUSSIAN:
Pochemuchka- A person who knows to many questions about everything.
Avos'ka- a mesh bag that one takes into his trip because he/she might be needing it.
Smekalka- (this is the toughest!) the ability of the brain to work and find solutions to very tricky situations in an unussual, unorthodox way.
Da net - translated directly it means 'yes no'. In most cases it means 'not bad and not good'. 'Half-yes, half no, in between'.

Polish
Hello = Czesc (chesch) (I have MAJOR issues saying this!)

Japanese
please open the window = Mado o, akete kudasai? (maadoa o, a-ke-te koo-da-s-eye)
please close the door = Doa o, shimete kudasai ;)

They're the only nice phrases that I can spell as opposed to just say. My friends from the Philippines taught me some bad phrases, which I wont share here! LOL)
