Alex plays in Madrid this week in the spanish Masters.
He'll play Jacobo Diaz today around 6pm.

Vamos Alex!!!

06-29-2004, 12:37 PM
Thanks for the news Enano,(nice name by the way):)
Do you know if there's an oficial site with live-scores?

06-30-2004, 05:06 AM
I got the info from , then go to "Nacional Campeonatos" then "De Espana, Absolutos" and "Masculino".
They don't have livescores but the draw (final masc) is updated during the day.

Alex lost as he retired at the score 45  .
On ElMundoDeportivo it's said it was a "contractura en las cervicales". I'm not 100% sure with medical phrases but it seems it's Alex neck again that bothered him last fall/winter already.

06-30-2004, 09:39 AM
I hope he will get well soon....

What another frustrating year for Alex! We all thaught, that this year will be better than last year and now that injury. That is really not fair.So lets cross
our fingers, that this injury will not take too long, so we can see him at the american hard court tournaments.

07-17-2004, 12:02 PM

07-19-2004, 02:40 PM
Pobre de Alex -- such a terrible year for him, must be so frustrating. I wonder if he'll make it into the draw for Toronto and Cincy??

07-28-2004, 07:30 PM

On a spanish web-site I have read, that Alex lost the final because he still has trouble with his injury. He has a slipped disc in the neck.
In the interview Alex said, that he wants to continue and to travel with his wife and daugther, and that he is not unlucky with the situation,he wants to end his career at a high level.
It is good to hear, that he will not give up.So,I hope he will be o.k. for the U.S. season. He is such a great fighter and deserves a big comeback. :) :)

08-04-2004, 02:19 PM

Yes he is playing in Washington next week, anyway, that's what his official site says.

Alex lost to Czech Jiri Vanek 6-2, 7-5 in the final round of qualifying in Sopot on Sunday. The top seed in the qualifying event, Alex won his first-round match against Australian Stephen Huss 7-5, 6-4 and his second match against Greece's Nikos Rovas 3-6, 6-1, 6-1. Alex was looking to qualify for his first main draw appearance since his first-round loss to Radek Stepanek at Wimbledon. Alex is also scheduled to play the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington.

Alex will play the quali in Lyon.First match is against a french player (de Chaunac).I hope he can qualify, because they will show some matches in TV
(Eurosport).I think,Alex has pulled out of Palermo, because he will get some practise in Indoor Tournaments.Good to know, that he isn´t injured.
Alex is also in the Main Draw of Metz.

Hmm... which is better for Alex?? Morrison? Yuk...

I really don't know... I think it doesn't make that much diference between those 2, maybe it's better to get Morrison because Benneteau plays at home ;)
But anyway, Alex is just going to win, whoever he plays :p
