What is Tennis Tipping?

In the game, participants pick the winners of all main draw matches and are placed in a knock-out system. That means each participant plays a different participant and whoever predicted the winner of most matches correctly, moves on to the next round. The same applies for doubles, but you're in a team format and your scores are combined.

Note:

- In case of a tie, a tie-breaker will decide who moves on to the next round.
New tie-break method: http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=4489037&postcount=1

- In case a player (i.e. the actual ATP Player) retires in a match, this match will be counted as long as one point has been played. If players are replaced by a lucky loser after the start of Tennis Tipping, these matches will be cancelled.

How to Sign-Up:

Just post here that you would like to play. You can only play one tournament per week. Entries will be based on ranking. Everyone can commit. :D

Please read this post for more information
http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=4423014&postcount=1

How to send in picks:

Picks can be sent in as soon as the draws are ready. Remember, you pick a winner in every match! Picks should be sent by PM, so that your opponent does not know your picks. Picks should be titled: [TT Praha, day #]. Picks can be sent in anytime until the beginning of play each day. If you're still in both singles & doubles, you use the same tips for both. For doubles, you still tip the ATP singles matches, not the doubles! No changes can be made after the play has started.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE

If the board goes down as has happened before, send your picks to eduvalle@hotmail.com

TT Praha Bulletin #5

5.1 - Draws

the draws of ATP and TT events were already released.

5.1.1 - The ATP draws

The qualifying draw was released on Saturday night. Two rounds were played on Sunday, and the qualifying round was played today. Gero Kretschmer (GER), Kornel Bardoczyk (HUN), Jaroslav Pospisil (CZE) and Kamil Capkovic (SVK) are the players who qualified for the main draw. Check in post#2 the ITF player’s profiles.

The main draw was released on Sunday. Local player Jiri Vanek and Argentinian Brian Dabul are the top seeds. The young Czech players Dusan Lojda (winner of the ECM Open in 2007), Roman Jebavy, Dusan Karol and Jiri Kosler were given wild cards to play the main draw.

(1)Jiří Vaněk CZE vs Jan Hernych CZE
Francesco Piccari ITA vs Jan Hájek CZE
Tomáš Zíb CZE vs (WC)Dušan Karol CZE
(7)Dominik Meffert GER vs Ivan Dodig CRO

(3)Nicolas Devilder FRA vs Jan Minář CZE
Andreas Haider-Maurer AUT vs Jan Vacek CZE
(WC)Roman Jebavý CZE vs Dawid Olejniczak POL
(6)Harel Levy ISR vs (Q)Gero Kretschmer GER

(5)Adrian Cruciat ROU vs Bohdan Ulihrach CZE
Augustin Gensse FRA vs (WC)Dušan Lojda CZE
Ivan Cerovic CRO vs Lukas Rosol CZE
(4)Leonardo Mayer ARG vs (Q)Jaroslav Pospisil CZE

(8)Lukáš Dlouhý CZE vs Jan Mertl CZE
Irakli Labadze GEO vs Martin Slanar AUT
(Q)Kornel Bardoczky HUN vs (Q)Kamil Capkovic SVK
(2)Brian Dabul ARG vs (WC)Jiri Kosler CZE

The most interesting clashes in first round seems to be Vanek vs Hernych (Vanek is 1st seed and last year’s runner-up, Hernych is two time champion of this event.) and Labadze vs Slanar (the Georgian is back to the tour and won an impressive 5 sets match in Davis Cup, the Czech born Slanar is collecting some good results recently)

5.1.2 - The TT draws

30 players signed for this event, so no qualifying was played here and the two top seeds got a bye in first round. The draw was made on Saturday night. Click here (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=6857637&postcount=4) to see the TT singles draw

In doubles, 13 teams signed, so the 3 top seeds have a bye in first round. The draw was made on Monday afternoon. Click here (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=6857637&postcount=5) to see the TT doubles draw

5.2 - Monday schedule

5.2.2- City tour

The players have free time to visit and enjoy the historical centre of Prague

http://www.voyages-photos.fr/images/prague/prague01.jpg
http://www.travel-destination-pictures.com/data/media/65/national-museum-prague_610.jpg

5.2.3 – Dinner

Players might be back to hotel until 19:30pm for the dinner. Check the menu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czech_cuisine), made of typical (and not light) Czech food

5.2.4 - Cultural session

Since it's Monday, most of the theatres are closed today, so we will have a movie session at the hotel, featuring the awarded Closely Observed Trains (http://www.criterion.com/asp/release.asp?id=131)

Igc0Jp62kEg

The players will can enjoy dance, theatre plays and music concerts on Tuesday night in any of the many cultural options of the city (http://www.discoverczech.com/prague/culture.php4)

But don’t drink too much, or tomorrow you’ll have a big hangover and feel like Kafka’s character Gregor Samsa (from the book The Metamorphosis (http://www.mala.bc.ca/~Johnstoi/stories/kafka-E.htm)) and it can affect your performance in first round.

Jackynwa is here! Arriving on the Challenger tour for the first time in his short but illustrious career, Jackynwa is extremely confident of demolishing Trucol the choker. Wierd that though, other people in Trucol's family don't choke! Despite the Frenchman boasting a higher ranking, and a seeding of 6 in Praha, bookies are offering odds of 200/1 for Trucol to take victory against the ultra-confident Englishman. It goes some way to suggesting how good Jackynwa is, when the bookies have him at 1/10 for tournament glory.

Pundits have him as the man to beat. Speaking yesterday, British Number 2 Forever-Delayed described him as "a legend in the making", highlighting his "extraordinary shotmaking" as one of his best attributes.

The clock is counting down, the queues are mounting, as over 24,000 wild fans flock to centre court to see him in action. UP THE JACK YNWA!

Please, stop ringing me up for interviews press people who read this. I am unavailable until Monday, after I have won Praha. Here is a statement from myself:

A win is on the cards for certain. Meeting Trucol in round 1 is like getting a bye, and I fully expect myself to wrap up the title without breaking into a sweat. Although I know it will not be like winning a proper tournament, as this is a terribly weak field.

When I described you as a legend in the making it would have been followed by the phrase 'in the sense that Charles Itanje is a legend in the making'.

Your extraordinary shotmaking is something to behold as well, as I've never seen someone play as many horrific shots as you do. :)

And it says something about your confidence when you come in here and post about how great you are and how you will destroy the field and then come crawling to me and beg me to help you with your picks, asking me who I think is going to win :)

SR differences - singles - first round

trucul vs jackynwa: differences Cruciat, Gensse (both 2-0) vs Ulihrach, Lojda (both 2-0)
all 8 matches 2-0, which means that if one of the differences go 2-1, the opponent wins, if both differences with 2-1 or 2-0, trucul needs Cruciat, jackynwa needs Ulihrach to win in SR shoot-out

ReyDavid08 vs nkp2: differences Capkovic, Ulihrach vs Bardoczky, Cruciat, all these matches predicted in straight sets (2-0)
ReyDavid has Labadze 2-0, Gensse 2-1, Dlouhy 2-1, npk2 has the same players winning in straight sets; the 2 differences were picked always in 2-0 sets; if the tie remains, Rey David needs Capkovic winning, npk2 needs Bordeczky

ReyDavid has Labadze 2-0, Gensse 2-1, Dlouhy 2-1, npk2 has the same players winning in straight sets; the 2 differences were picked always in 2-0 sets; if the tie remains, Rey David needs Capkovic winning, npk2 needs Bordeczky

robuś vs marr: Gensse, Dlouhy (both 2-0)vs Lojda(2-0), Mertl (2-1)
Capkovic, Cruciat and Mayer in 3 sets for robuś, these players in 2 for marr; if still tied, Gensse must win for robuś, Lojda must win for marr

ghan vs Overlord: Capkovic, Lojda (both 2-0) vs Bardoczky (2-1), Gensse(2-0); the only SR difference of the matches with same winner pick is Cruciat (2-1 for ghan, 2-0 for Overlord); if still tied, ghan needs Capkovic, Overlord needs Bordeczky

There is mistake because i had Cruciat 2-1.

Ok sorry for being a novice, but how will this work?! What is the current score so to speak?

today 8 matches, tomorrow probably another 8 matches

your opponents are leading currently 10-9 (of 14 possible), one match remaining, if Slanar wins, you'll be leveled for tomorrow, if Labadze wins, your opponents will be leading by 2 points tomorrow. Tomorrow matches might decide. Check in first page the schedule, different for singles and doubles :wavey:

Please, stop ringing me up for interviews press people who read this. I am unavailable until Monday, after I have won Praha. Here is a statement from myself:

A win is on the cards for certain. Meeting Trucol in round 1 is like getting a bye, and I fully expect myself to wrap up the title without breaking into a sweat. Although I know it will not be like winning a proper tournament, as this is a terribly weak field.

:haha:

Indeed, you were right. "Meeting me is like getting a bye": Actually, you are getting a bye bye or a good bye :wavey:

I found the Minar Devilder match so tricky, and picked Devilder thinking a possible Minar win, that i'm pretty happy not to have a diff on this match...

BTW Minar is leading 6/4 *2/1 so i'm even more happy....

Hope our double opponent didn't go for Minar either !!

Ruben, there is always a swing of a pendulum, you were so unlucky by facing strong opponents and loosing with good scores those last months in single, that i'm pretty happy you were in QF....

Your Chakhnashvili had defeated Camille Pin (ex Arnaud Clément fiancee and seeded #2) yesterday in ITF 100 000 Cagnes sur Mer (French Riviera)

Rvugt, you took revenge for wtaw doubles loss. :p

Hernych is doing it again! This is really his tournament, defeating Vanek, no. 1 seeded, 6-3 6-4! I'm only 1 out of 3, happy that my opponent didn't send picks! :P

as I said before, in a bulletin, this was the most inetersting match in first round, but I didn't put as SR1 since I predicted most people would go on Vanek (as happened)

yep, it's frozen :(

and I can't believe when there is a joint event ATP+WTA, the ATP shows the WTA livescores, but when the WTA is the main one, they don't show the ATP :retard: so we have to stick to the tournament livescore, that is with some problems

Mine too, Eric! It gets stuck all the time! But you know, it's better than no livescore, like in Tunis! :p:p

The difference is probably in the level of the tournament. As the men tournament is a challenger so never on the ATP site, the WTA will not show it of course! So I can understand why they don't do it. Of course, if both are big tournaments they are both shown!

but I remember ATP showing WTA results when the women tournament was of a lower level, I think not even a Tier, and they showing the veterans matches too
