I just wanted to know who every1 thinks is a rising star!!!

I think IGOR ANDREEV, obviously, not only is he cute but he is such a strong player.

Mario Ancic as well!

:yeah:  :wavey: :worship:

Robin Soderling, Tomas Berdych, Joachim Johansson, Fernando Verdasco, Igor Andreev, Florian Mayer, and of course Rafael Nadal.

Igor Andreev, for sure

Also I think that Juan Monaco is a very good player, too.. He's very nice and funny (I met him in April) :)

Yeah, definetly Andreev (he is really cute, but also has some incredible shots), after that I´d say Flo Mayer (he´s basically the only german player I like) and Robin Soderling.

MissPovaFan
06-28-2004, 07:48 PM
Andreev for sure and maybe Mayer as well now.

Snoopy_Girl
06-28-2004, 09:10 PM
Andreev and Mayer of course.. Nadal, he can still grow a lot more, but IMO he's not really rising anymore, he's already there... Personally, I would like to see more of Ascione, kinda had a breakthrough last year, in terms of his way up in the rankings, but didn't do too much this year, so far...

I agree Pea, Tipsarevic won qualifying matches most convincingly, took one set against Robby too. but My rising stars are Verdasco, Nadal and Jochim Johansson.

I think Jurgen has the potential to cause a lot of trouble for people... Igor Kunitsyn. If he can get some consistency he ought to be good. He has a nice game IMO.

Oh, I would love to say Fred, but I'm more realistic when I say Benneteau and Starace at this moment. They are really cool players on their way up :bounce: . I followed him in some challenger tournaments and suddenly there he was at Roland Garros, it was really cool to see him get that far.
( Maybe in a year or so I can say Fred and be realistic, but he's still a slow rising star in my eyes ;) )

Fascinating bump. Interesting to see that Andreev and Mayer seemed to be popular picks for many people, however although Andreev is now in the Top30 it seems that Mayer was playing his best tennis back in 2004 and never quite reached those heights again.

StevoTG
05-09-2008, 02:49 PM
Nadal eh.....

So should we now predict stars of the future again... the likes of Tomic etc (he's not my pick by the way, I've never seen him play ;))

BTW Why are people still referring to Mario Ancic as a rising star?

Good point. I like him a lot but he can't be 'rising' star.

Almagro is my choice.

lovely thread ;) I wouldn't have thought Funky Flo had so many fanboys/girls

I don't think I have a rising star at this moment, all of them are estabilished around top 100. I'd say Mannarino who's yet out, and a national pick in person of Jerzy Janowicz.
