Deboogle!. 03-30-2008, 09:09 PM Do you really think Andy or Melzer even cared (hell, or Gasquet or Tsonga for that matter  )... fun day-off hit for the 2 guys left in the event, little paycheck for the two who aren't and nice chance for some fans to see top players up close on a little court  Everyone wins  ~*BGT*~ 03-30-2008, 09:15 PM Would have been nice to see the match online though. Deboogle!. 03-30-2008, 09:18 PM no cameras on that court  ~*BGT*~ 03-30-2008, 09:19 PM I know. Would have been nice if it was on Grandstand. Surely they didn't think a lot people wouldn't go see it. :o Deboogle!. 03-30-2008, 09:22 PM No worse than yesterday's match between the Bryans and Nadal/Robredo, actually that one was probably worse. They explained on FSN why all the grandstand matches are men's singles - because of worldwide TV obligations. that means no women and no doubles on grandstand ~*BGT*~ 03-30-2008, 09:27 PM :ras: on contractual obligations. Vlad1980 03-30-2008, 09:37 PM Never in doubt. :) Deboogle!. 03-30-2008, 10:05 PM :ras: on contractual obligations. We lawyers have to make money somehow :D richie21 03-30-2008, 11:17 PM Gasquet should play only doubles,he might win some big titles there.:o Misterman 03-30-2008, 11:44 PM Believe me, ADick wanted to win badly. His ego wanted to show the French what would happen in Davis, ADick already said the "french are talking smack". Oh well, you lose today. One point France. Fee 03-30-2008, 11:47 PM  hi bgt- shades of the the davis cup-although i doubt that gasquet tsonga will play doubles there And Roddick most certainly will not. This was a play time match, the match that had more implications for DC was the all French match earlier in the day. I think they are still shuffling their team around, but it will probably be Gasquet, Tsonga, and Llodra/Clement in doubles, right? ~*BGT*~ 03-31-2008, 12:00 AM Believe me, ADick wanted to win badly. I think they are still shuffling their team around, but it will probably be Gasquet, Tsonga, and Llodra/Clement in doubles, right? PHM is the fifth man. He's not happy about it. He thinks his time would be better spent training and getting ready for the French Open. Forget has no choice in this matter, both Gasquet and Tsonga are ranked ahead, and probably better on the hc. But men, these French players are good at doubles, any combo of the top ranked ones (including Santoro) would probably be able to take out the BB's:confused: Allez-Alejo 03-31-2008, 04:59 AM the Bryan's will turn it up in the DC...especially at home Smash. 03-31-2008, 05:37 AM It's always a good thing when Roddick loses:banana: Fee 03-31-2008, 06:32 AM thats my take on frencg davis cuyp too. just out of curiousity and if anyone is still reading this but can the davis team only use two players? has it been done? Well, they have to name four. I can't think of a tie where one of the teams only used 2 players for all five matches, but perhaps some of our more accomplished historians here will see your question and give you a better answer. jitterbug 03-31-2008, 07:35 AM I can't think of a tie where one of the teams only used 2 players for all five matches Rusedski/Henman. http://www.daviscup.com/ties/tie.asp?tie=100005916 Saumon 03-31-2008, 08:39 AM I'm pretty sure Belarus did it quite often. Voo de Mar 03-31-2008, 11:15 PM Another win for Gasquet/Tsonga - they beat Calleri/Gonzalez 6-4 2-6 [10-4] in the 2nd round. Gasquet should play only doubles,he might win some big titles there.:o Seems to be true. Gasquet has got better percentage of wins in doubles (64 %) than in singles (60 %) now. He often chokes in singles but in doubles looks like a mental giant - extremely good record in the champions tie-breaks: 18-4 (81 %). | |
