Didn't see the match but from sb looks like a chokefest. If i'm not mistaken, Muzza double faulted on match point :help: and Mario also wasted mp on his serve in the third set tb. Muzza also was a break up in the third set.

Ugly, ugly match overall, though it improved a bit towards the end. Loads of UEs from both.

Great point at 4-4 in the 3rd set. Drop shot from Mario which Andy got back, forcing a diving volley by Mario which deserved to win the point, but Andy scrambled back across the court and got it over.

Not quite as good as that point in the Roddick match earlier, but the highlight of this match for sure.

Mario saved two match points in the tiebreak. Andy saved one.

Sad for Andy.

Great battling win for Mario though. :rocker2:

The less miserable player won.

Horrible choking from both players. Ancic' forehand was in horrible shape. I don't know what Murray is trying to do with that drop shot of his, bore his opponent into submission?

Anyway, Murray is out. It's a good day :)

Looks good for Mario now, Monaco and Davydenko are beatable

Erratic match from Murray wasted two match points. Double faulted in the tie break and mentally lost it. In the first set he was awful and I was wondering if it was because he was trying to keep calm. Then he seemed to find the balance between calm and fired and then when he needed it the most he lost it.

Also his game in particular his serve is going backwards.

Heh, that was quite entertaining, although both players really couldn't handle the pressure. ;)
In the TB Ancic won four points in a row from 0:1 to 4:1, then it was Murray who won five consecutive points. Mario saved the first mp thanks to a drop shot & volley combo, and regarding Murray's 2nd mp, well... others already mentioned how he blew that one.

I always thought it would be hard for Murray to stay where he was in the rankings let alone push into the Top 10, given the amount of points he had to defend in the first three months. The good news is it's all gravy from now until the US Open, but the serve is letting him down again and he's getting embroiled in too many battles.

Poor match from both players. Ancic got broken at 3-2 in the third set with an airswing on the forehand and a framed second serve that caused a double fault, then Murray plays an awful game to hand the break back.

Both players had opportunities in the tie-breaker, Ancic made so many forehand errors and Murray got off to a poor start and played the important points badly.

He played great in the first set, had BPs in every of Murray's service games, but then second set was a disaster, Mario was just useless. Third set was a lot more interesting, Murray *4-2 up, Mario comes back....

That "come back" consisted of 2 Murray double faults, a wild forehand mishit that was so far off it's probably not landed yet, and a dropshot into the net. Ancic's only contribution to the key game in the match was to blast a forehand out of court.

Make no mistake, this result was entirely about Murray's errors. When he was hitting it in the court, he won the rallies.

Quite a battlefield on Granstand. I must say luckier player won, even if would have been other way I would have said the same. Mario far better player in 1st set, but he couldn't keep the tempo. In the third both players weren't able to keep their nerves, both in nerve wrack down condition, and in the TB they were already in total shock state. In one moment Mario said: U picku materinu, idemo, nema bjezanja!!! Translated: Lets go, no running away !!! The first part is involving a mother and a certain female sexual organ.:p

Fantastic stuff from Muzza as usaul. My my cant wait till March is over....its been disastarous.

Im actually fed up of Muzza now. He's stopped improving, and has become extremely negative both in his play and his on-court demeanour.

All is not lost though this 'mug' has no other major points to defend till indoor season.

And I think with his game in its current state (counter-punching, moonballing) clay will actually be a very good surface for him. he has zero pressure so yeh should be good. All the best Muzza!!

And about those drop shots. I don't think it was such a bad decision to play them. Andy noticed that Mario could barely run and he tried to worn him down. On the other hand the execution wasn't quite perfect, but I think he still managed to win more then 50% of those points.

More than 50%? Big deal! He was getting burned around half the time, he should have quit using them, some of his decision making was on the verge of desperate.

It is not like he was dominating the match or lose the match cause of those drop shots. He implemented tactics to worn down Mario. It brought him a break up in third and 2 match points in TB. It is a totally different thing that he couldn't hold serve or realized those MP's. Mario had way better rhythm than Andy and he needed to mix things a bit. This match could have swung anyway. In the end just a point to victory.
