this match is just around the corner now. they have never played. what must Nadal do to secure a win. we know that Kiefer will have to be aggressive and play a high risk game in order to have a chance. can he keep Nadal off balance long enough to get a win?

so who wins this one and why? and in how many sets?

Nadal, 6-3 6-3

So, once and for all, does Germany have any chance against Spain in Davis Cup?

Kiefer at his peak would have had the game but sadly not anymore.

I'll be happy if Kiefer can play and doesn't have to withdraw or something. It's not like Haas is the only one with injury troubles.
It would be nice if Kiefer could make it a fairly close one, especially since Kuehnen will be following that match.

Kiefer is 30 now but he can play on hard courts. he is tough when he is on.

Can't believe Nadal might actually win a WWW poll for a hardcourt tournament.

Makes me nervous :scared:

They say Nadal played pretty good tennis in his first match..

Even if Kiefer is on, I expect Nadal to win this... And if Kiefer is not on, Nadal should win comfortably.

problem is thet Nadal too is coming to get it on. it is interesting, however, to see that according to the our little poll here, better than 33% believe that Kiefer will win.

i just dont see it.

In contrary to 'popular MTF belief', Raf is a pretty good HC player. ;)
Apart from the occasional hiccups he should be able to do good business here. I'm counting on that, as is reflected by my bet on him for this match.

It's quite simple, every time I make a big bet on someone - mostly Raf or Roger - the guy LOSES big time. Hope that won't happen in this very case again. :help:

Kiefer is 22-9 against left handers. and one defeat was a walkover and one a retirement.
pretty damn good.

1. Kiefer is nearly 31

2. Nadal is no ordinary left hander.

Yep, Rafa is only 21, and it seems that he's now 25 to everybody, so let's don't forget two years ago he was just a teenager! ;)

I don't see a chance to win for Kiefer, even if I would like to see it THAT MUCH. My only hope is a good match where Kiefer has plenty of good points and that he doesn't lose in a blowout.

it cant be a blowout Neely. Nadal has lost some of his magic on hard courts and Kiefer can be very tough on any given day.

Nadal simply has to put this match away.

i like how cd pretends to expect almost nothing of nadal, so that he can act all surprised when nadal steamrolls his opponent
it's pretty obvious that kiefer has absolutely no chance of staying in the match with piggy

negative. i say Nadal wins this match no matter what. it is just not going to be a blowout.

translation: Nadal wins. where is the doubt here old sport. we have to face the reality. Nadal is not very good on hard courts and he is out of confidence. he has also not won a title since last july.

there is a chance he could start out slow. it may take him a set just to get his teeth into the match but he is not losing this match.
