no he cant. i think he has played like 3 matches this year. he is also useless. Fed will smoke him playing with a frying pan while dragging behind him a very large, dead farm animal on a rope. and carrying a bucket of wet cement in his left hand.

I don't want to jinx him, but it should be an easy match for Fed. Monfils won't be able to do much to hurt him, and he'll probably give Federer a good rhythm.

Fed should win, but Gael loves being the underdog and playing the top guys, so it could be a battle.

Federer should and almost certainly will but, given how little match play he's had since last year, I hope Monfils at least puts up a decent fight :boxing: Either way I'll be happy just to see two of my faves in action...

I don't know what is going to happen. I've loved that gangly freak Monfils forever, but Fed is Fed no matter what the surface and no matter whether or not he has won the French open. However, a sudden hot-shot with absolutely nothing to lose - ever heard of Tsonga? And let's not forget Federer on clay is basically equivalent to Nadal on hard-court, and a no-name beat him in January.

IMO I see this match like a piece of cake for Federer. Monfils, I assume, is a good player. But I do not think he has the mental strength to beat Federer. Let's see.
