I have cousins in Sydney, they keep inviting me every year...so I guess the time has come :p
So I thought...I could put all together...who knows when (and if) I would go again.
It will be cold winter here and I will be enjoying (burning :tape:  ) under Australian sun :p

Medibank International and then Melbourne Park with Zara, Kell and others that will go :)

(but we have to be careful not to get arrested ;) )

jeahhh!

I would probably think so too, if I hadn't had to wear it every single day for 13years  I don't mind it in small amounts - like the "flashes" on that lovely black shirt :inlove: But the shorts make it too much green I think :)

I'm actually wearing green right now  It's just that deep, forest green that brings back memories

I don't own a lot of green because I'm naturally attracted to blues/browns. :p

Yes - same uniform from the age of 5 to 18 :spit: I went to one of those awfully strict English Private Schools you probably read about, - where the poor little kids have to wear boater straw hats :o and a ghastly uniform almost as soon as they can walk :awww:

As for my colours - my favourites are probably all the mauve shades - like lilac, deep purple, and soft violet, and also blues which are very similar in the colour spectrum I guess. I like some soft pink shades too :hearts:

Same applies to wearing uniforms for 13 years :sobbing: The good thing is when you're in a hurry, you don't have to waste time thinking what to wear to school. Or wrong colour coordination.

I never knew what an uniform is.. The advantages of public schools..

But I guess the uniforms also have some advantages.. :)

I was in a nun's school. The hem of your dress cannot be shorter than 2 inches above your knee. You can only tie your hair with elastic/rubber band and blue/pink/white ribbon. And the blue is the royal/dark blue family. And the pink is pastel, no hot pink/orange pink etc. White shoe in summer. Black shoe in winter. White socks all the year. Cardigan must be white, pink or dark blue. Coat must be dark blue. If you caught loitering in public places with your school uniform, you would be in BIG trouble. The principal was capable of remembering all the girls' names in every grade in secondary school.

I may miss some more rules as it's been many years ago :p

Public School - a place where we can express our opinions and feelings :worship:

(I am a freedom lover)

Lee
06-04-2008, 10:42 PM
Public schools here have dressing code too, just not as strict ;) The most ridiculous thing in my son's middle school is: the cheer leaders' uniforms do not quite conform to the dressing code of the school :tape:

arm
06-04-2008, 10:46 PM
:haha: I think I imagine.

We also have a code here, but it is not stirct. It's like this: "wear whatever you want, just dont come naked".

So in theory we have a code, but it doesn't reallyy make any difference.

How old is your son, Lee?

Lee
06-04-2008, 10:51 PM
He's 12. His school district starts middle school in 6th grade but may change because of cut funding which will put 6th grade in elementary school instead of middle school.

arm
06-04-2008, 11:00 PM
Cut funding. Sounds familiar, it's also common here. My little sister will be 12 in August. :)

Lee
06-04-2008, 11:12 PM
It really sucks as my son's school is one of the oldest in the district and the school is falling apart :tape: but there's no money to fix it.

arm
06-04-2008, 11:16 PM
Really? I thought that only happened in Portugal..

My cousin's best friend spent his last year of high school in the US and he told me that the school he attended was better than our best university here...

Lee,

It was nice talking to you. But I could use some rest..:zzz:

See you tomorrow!

Lee
06-04-2008, 11:24 PM
Depends  My state is lowest funding in education of all states. Lots of the wealthier districts rely on extra bonds (i.e. extra property tax) to fund the schools. But the bonds need to pass the vote and it's turned down last year which cost the major cutback. Ironically, all the elementary schools in the district are new, spaceous and comfortable. But now, the kids grew up and moved to middle schools, leaving empty classrooms in the elementary schools but overcrowded middle and high schools.

why does he wear Nike's at the moment?

He wasn't happy with Adidas' grass shoes so he switched to Nike's for this tournament. He'll go back to Adidas shoes on the hardcourts and Adidas is supposed to be coming out with a new grass shoe next year.
