Richard has yet to win a first round match at any Slam. When will he fulfil his promise?
Gasquet bombs out of 1st rd again: 63 67 67 76 64 to CarlsenTennis Fool 06-24-2004, 06:59 PM Richard has yet to win a first round match at any Slam. When will he fulfil his promise? Shy 06-24-2004, 07:03 PM He is barely 18.He has time, but maybe he need a psychologist or something. CarnivalCarnage 06-24-2004, 11:58 PM He is barely 18.He has time, but maybe he need a psychologist or something. LOL. Chloe le Bopper 06-25-2004, 01:06 AM He did have to go through qualies here, and was successful in doing so. He lost to a player who is dangerous on fast surfaces. I don't think he should be ashamed of his performance here. silverwhite 06-25-2004, 04:33 AM He is barely 18.He has time, but maybe he need a psychologist or something. Maybe. He seems to do badly in tiebreaks (Paris, Queen's). Only after he lost 2 of them did he wake up and win the 3rd tiebreak 7-0. Sigh... these French... lizabeth..* 06-25-2004, 04:47 AM I wouldn't call that loss bombing out?? Richard saved 2 match points...he fought until the end. The old Richard would have lost in 3 easy sets. Yes he hasn't won a 1st round match in a slam. But with these results he is bound to soon enough. Rebecca is right, he got through quallies as well and was beaten by a player who is known for his results on fast surfaces. He doesn't need a psychologist...he just needs to keep playing how he is, the results will come. In no way should he be ashamed or disapointed by yesterdays match!!! Chloe le Bopper 06-25-2004, 05:35 AM IT's also worth noting that RIchard hasn't had much luck with draws in slams. Nalbandian at Roland Garros? Not so good. CooCooCachoo 06-25-2004, 06:25 AM For an inexperienced player on grass, Carlsen is one of the toughest opponents you can get. Carlsen's favourite surface, I think, is grass and he is very, very dangerous on this surface. I think Richard should be proud he even made it to five sets.. Scotso 06-25-2004, 12:52 PM I don't think so, CCC. Richard should have won this match. YoursTruly 06-25-2004, 08:21 PM Carlson is doing damage at Wimbledon | |
