Why people think Novak's draw is easy? Marin is not an easy first round opponent  Of course, it's better than Fed vs Muzza but may be for Novak, Muzza is easier than Cilic.

Hmm - Cilic then probably Youzhny and a suppposed QF v Gasquet- wouldn't call it a cakewalk but then it's a very high quality field.
Still at least he's in Nadal's half, not Fed's. Assuming he gets past Murray, Fed should have no problems so a week today...gulp.

He so should have won that and the tournament - a few sloppy points cost him and then he seemed to lose interest/spirit towards the end. Grrr...

Why the hell should I be a gracious loser - I'm not English. They're the ones who lose graciously and then try to claim it as a virtue - I'm bloody furious! He so should have won that and the tournament - a few sloppy points cost him and then he seemed to lose interest/spirit towards the end. Grrr...

Rant over ;-)

He's not prepared for the godlike Roddick to show up. He prepared for a Roddick-with-nothing-but-serve. Hopefully, he learned his lesson tonight.

:awww: I wasn't able to watch the match at all. But I take it Andy was surprisingly good.

Good luck in IW Nole :rocker2:

Yes - Andy was surprisingly good, and I am not a fan of his at all - in fact I really don't like him much :o But he was playing very well - and not just the serve. Seems since he parted company with Connors he has got mentally stronger in some way, and seems to focus more

I actually enjoyed the match - there were loads of exciting and spectacular shots, and it was played in a great spirit by both players. Like Lee said earlier, I'm not sure how the MTF haters will twist Nole's sporting gesture in the 1st set tie-break to make him look bad - but I'm sure they will  He looked a little tired and jaded I thought - playing a man who serves consistently well like Roddick is always going to be hard, because you can't relax on your own serve for a second. Also, our commentators said Jelena did not arrive in Dubai until midnight last night - so maybe that is also why he was tired :o :tape:

Yes - I guess I am being a typical English gracious loser  When your Number 1 favourite player is Dmitry Tursunov (known to most of GM as "the brainess ballbasher" ) you kind of have to get used to it :) Getting too mad about the result of a tennis match is too much of a waste of energy in my opinion - I can be sad for a while, but getting mad won't change anything so why waste the energy?

Sorry, sorry, sorry Lee.

I apologised on the thread too. I used the multiquote so I wouldn't forget them and was always planning to edit them down into shortened version like appear on the Fedtard and Pork Dork threads. In future I won't come in here for them, but the GM trolls aren't playing nice and have gone into hiding :( No offense intended at all.

Ok - calmer now - I need to be mad for about 40 minutes after a loss and then perspective returns! Sorry.

No problem Linda. We are quite used to be in this little bubble here as we are not invaded as much as Federer or Nadal forum.

The GM trolls won't hide for long, just be a little patience  I think in the mean time, a few showed up already and you will have your field day. ;)

For a big server served 69% first serve, it's extremely good. His first serves were mostly in 220-235kph, approx. 132-142mph range depends on where he served. As I noticed yesterday, he flattened his forehand when he tried a winner, instead of the loopy one he used since Brad Gilbert :tape:

It's a very good match, will be better if Nole played better. The match was actually not as tight as the score showed, IMO.

No worries  I do understand. I have been known to cry when Dima loses :o but - as you say - perspective returns after a very short time. I'm only half English anyway :) I would say I assume that you are Scottish, but you can never assume anything with flags on MTF

Lee - I hardly ever go into GM these days - so if anyone misquoted me I wouldn't even know :o

I thought it was very tight in the first set - but in the second, Nole began to look tired, and somewhat dejected, which can happen when someone serves like Roddick, and everytime you get a break point, he just sends down a bomb to save the breakpoint  I can't really comment about the forehand, because I am not a Roddick aficionado, and I haven't truly watched his game enough recently to comment in depth, but what I have seen this week, seems more akin to the Roddick who won the US Open in 2003, than the one of the past year.

Good for you ;)

It kind of started after the Aussie Open to be honest. I just got sick of the whole thing there - hating on a player is one thing, but all the hate that was aimed towards Nole's brothers and Mother really made me mad  And there is just so much nastiness goes on there nowadays  A few years ago it used to be fun, but now everything gets vicious and personal, with people just trolling for "fun" and virtually "stalking" other posters to pick holes in their posts and cause trouble, and also people accusing players of cheating and doping with no evidence etc., and I'm just tired of it!

I missed the part in the TB where Nole called Andy's serve good but others explained to me what happened so I must come in here and :worship: :hatoff: to Nole to his great sportsmanship. And also for giving Andy a great match. :)

You would be correct, Rosie. His own fans haven't seen that forehand for ages.

Thanks :) Have to say that Andy was also very sporting. He applauded Nole's shots on many occasions, and when they were at the net at the end, there seemed to be very warm words and smiles exchaged. It was nice to see.

Jelena showed up again? That woman is a jinx. When will he accept this and stop letting her come. She never used to come  I prefer her being an invisible girlfriend.

Great sportsmanship yeah - but am still so gutted he lost to Roddick (Roddick!! Oh please - he is not in Nole's league). Despite a nice red wine with dinner I am still seriously hacked off...

Other half is watching Borat which doesn't help either.

Not a good match for Nole. I was perplexed of how he played the return games: no one bp:rolleyes:
But It's time to be positive, I hope in a victory in one of the two MS at least (and the other one won by Nalbandian )
