JAMES BLAKE RETURNS TO INDIANAPOLIS FOURTH STRAIGHT YEAR
The 2006 Champion Looks to Join List of Repeat Winners

INDIANAPOLIS--American James Blake will attempt to play his way into
the Indianapolis Tennis Championships presented by Lilly history books
this summer by joining the legendary Pete Sampras, Boris Becker and Andy
Roddick as only the fourth player to win two or more titles since 1987
on the hardcourts at the Indianapolis Tennis Center (ITC).

“It’s exciting to have James back as he has been a fixture in
Indianapolis for the past three summers,” said Kevin Martin, Indianapolis Tennis
Championships presented by Lilly Tournament Director. “Our fans have
had the privilege to watch Pete, Boris and Andy win multiple titles and
this year will not be different. James is tremendously popular on the
court as well as off, a fighter and a gentleman, and our fans, along
with tennis fans around the world, have embraced his style of play.”

Blake lost in the quarterfinals in 2007 in an epic match against the
young American Sam Querrey. Querrey defeated Blake 7-6 (6), 6-7(4),
7-6(4) after he served a career-high 36 aces, including an ATP Tour record
10 in a row.

The 28-year-old Tampa resident compiled another consistent season on
the ATP Tour in 2007 with two ATP titles (Sydney, New Haven) in five
finals. He also helped the U.S. to its first Davis Cup title since 1995 by
posting a 5-2 singles mark during the year and in the final, defeated
Mikhail Youzhny in four sets. Blake put together his best summer
hardcourt results (17-3) of his career by reaching the final in Los Angeles
(l. to Stepanek), QF in Indianapolis, final at AMS Cincinnati (l. to
Federer) and won the title in New Haven for the second time in three years
(d. Fish). At the US Open, Blake reached the 4th RD (l. to Haas in
fifth set tie-break) after posting his first career five-set victory over
Santoro in the 2nd RD.

Blake, who is currently No. 9 on ATP Rankings, began 2008 by reaching
the quarterfinals at the Australian Open (l. to Federer, 0-8 all-time
vs. Federer). During the third round, he came back for the first time in
his career from 2 sets down to defeat Frenchman Sebstain Grosjean 4-6,
2-6, 6-0, 7-6(5) 6-2 and is 2-10 all-time in five set matches. He also
reached the finals at Delray Beach (l. to Nishikori) and advanced to
the quarterfinals at Indian Wells (l. to Nadal 7-5, 3-6, 6-3).

Blake also became a New York Times best seller last summer after his
“feel good” story of the ups and downs of his life and tennis career was
chronicled in his book, “Breaking Back: How I Lost Everything and Won
Back My Life.” The book reached No. 15 on the New York Times best
seller list last August.

The Indianapolis Tennis Championships presented by Lilly is a
world-class ATP Tour tennis event held annually in Indianapolis, and is a part
of the Olympus US Open Series. The event, which traces its roots back to
1920, has hosted such notable players as Pete Sampras, Arthur Ashe,
Jimmy Connors, Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick.
