Guille having to play tomorrow really pisses me off!!!! :fiery: :banghead:

It's bad enough that this Wimbledon is already starting out so bad but with Guille complaining of "heavy legs" today...what the heck will they be tomorrow??? He's played a lot of Tennis just in the past two days. I bet if this was someone else there would be an exception made  .

That said:

Well as jtipson said in GM, Pete asked for a Tuesday start a couple years ago and all they gave him was the last match on Monday. So... if they're not gonna do it for Pete, 7-time champ, they're not gonna do it for Guille who's never won a match, or anyone else for that matter I would gander.

And I was informed by someone that was because of Sampras's bad back (and because I can't stand Sampras having to include him in a post nearly two year's afrer retirement is leaving a bad taste in my mouth) so to compare Sampras's reasoning why he asked to Guille's situation is not exactly fair, in my opinion anyway.

I don't remember Sampras ever playing a Final just prior to opening up Wimbledon. Nor do I remember him having to play a tough QF and a tough SF in the same day.

And to point out Guille's lack of ability to win a match at Wimbledon is not really relevant. He's now won 4 matches on grass at Rosmalen. I know that doesn't exactly make him great on the stuff but to write him off immediately is a bit disrespectful.

Guille will be tired tomorrow so if he does lose to Moodie...I'm sure all that he's went through this weekend won't even be mentioned by the "experts."

I'm hoping more than I was before that Guille can rest up as much as possible and go out there and surprise people.

yes, the schedule for Coria is really bad, so bad... I'm certainly not a fan of him, but that's really bad that they didn't consider he had to play two matches on one day and a final in 's-Hertogenbosch on Sunday afternoon and he plays right on Monday to start another tournament... and guys who had the whole week off start on Tuesday

also good luck to:
- Carlos Moyá :D VAMOS! :clap2:

My point wasn't to suggest that Guille doesn't deserve an extra day off, my point was that if the tournament organizers are gonna be hard-asses to someone who won the tournament SEVEN TIMES that they're not exactly going to go out of their way to accomodate someone who has never won a match there. The reasoning is really irrelevant - it's just a reflection on the way the Wimby organization works. Obviously they don't seem so flexible.

I know how you meant it, Bunk, and I see your point... if they even didn't consider a plea of (one of) the biggest players EVER who won this fucking tournament SEVEN TIMES they don't care at all about Coria either... Coria could have played two matches every day the last week but if they want to schedule him on Monday they would do so

exactly what I meant :) I like Coria a lot so I wasn't slighting him at all (though let's be honest, it was his choice to take the wild card last minute), I was commenting more on the apparent inflexibility of the organization.

But the thing is, too, say they make that match on Tuesday....just a hypothetical here. then say Moodie wins, not because Guille was tired but because he's a good server who volleys and is just a better grass player than Guille. Now because of Guille, Moodie is at a disadvantage and has to play his 2nd round match on Wednesday with no days off.

Am I making sense? I guess my point is that there's no way to do it so that it's fair to everyone.

You're making complete sense. But this is why I'm so damn testy on this subject. I already am not a big fan of grass (short explanation: points are too quick, few rallys, etc.) and now to add to that...a good lot of my favorites either have a major injury (David Nalbandian) or aren't there.

As a side note, I did do a quick count of how many favorites are playing...24 :p . Let's see how long that lasts.

Does anyone know what court 18 looks like? I went to wimbledon.org but the panoramic pic they had didn't show 18 too well.

Yes, you are making a lot of sense :) With the rain delays expected on Tuesday, delaying the top half first round matches could complicate things further too.

By the way, Llodra is in the exact same position as Coria, but nobody seems to care about him.

That's good, I don't always make sense even though it sounds perfectly good in my head :p

And yea if they can't get all the matches in tomorrow (or even today), having matches here and there off-kilter would REALLY screw things up, definitely.

and, yes I thought about Llodra too. :)

I dont to criticise the organisers but its a JOKE that Michael Llodra and Guillermo Coria have been scheduled to play today! Absolute JOKE! Especially when players such as Tim Henman and Carlos Moya are playing tomorrow - players who have not played for almost 2 weeks!

By the way, Llodra is in the exact same position as Coria, but nobody seems to care about him.

I was wondering when someone would bring that up. It's not the exact same position. Michael only had to play one match on Saturday and it was a fairly easy win over Tommy. In contrast, Guille had to play two tough matches on Saturday just to get to the Final where Michael was just a bit fresher.

This all might be mute anyway if this rain keeps up
