In what alternate universe does Coria beat Clement on Grass? He's back to his mentally strong self and gaining a lot of confidence on grass going into Wimbledon. RaVeR 06-19-2004, 12:47 PM Ancic will eat Coria for breakfast in semis!! tennyfan 06-19-2004, 12:48 PM poundcat - are you talking about Clement-Coria stopping at 15-15? I was wondering that too. Did it start to rain then stop? Medical time out? Crowd doing the wave refusing to stop? ;-) whirlwind 06-19-2004, 12:48 PM Ancic will eat Coria for breakfast in semis!! Are they playing this evening? tennyfan 06-19-2004, 12:49 PM Bl@de - I've heard that before, but Coria seems to be defying all the odds. nitsansh 06-19-2004, 12:50 PM Ancic *5-3 serve for match nitsansh 06-19-2004, 12:52 PM Ancic beat Verkerk 6-3 6-3 Next stop Coria! poundcatt 06-19-2004, 12:53 PM What happened. It's over! Ancic won. Good, no tie-breaks this time fco253 06-19-2004, 12:53 PM I admire more and more Coria each day! I think in a sense there is more value in this SF 75 points than his 700 final points on clay. They said to him "you don't truly belong in Top tier if you don play everywhere" He didn't take offense. He said they were right. "If i want to be Nº1, I must be competitive all year on every surface, so i'll try hard to learn to play on grass". He could have easily made his career with only his wins in clay. HIs physical disadvantage obviously gets exposed on fast surfaces. But he fights. I love his determination and his desire. Other Top players would thrieve with such an attitude. Good for you, Guille! tennyfan 06-19-2004, 12:54 PM Why don't they put Robredo/Llodra on another court to get them in before the rain? RaVeR 06-19-2004, 12:54 PM Mario won 6-3,6-3:D:) Good luck against Coria! tennyfan 06-19-2004, 12:57 PM I think Coria v. Ancic will be a good match. David vs. Goliath. There style of play is so entirely different. I find Ancic a bit "awkward" in his movement where as Guille moves with a bit of grace on the courts. At any rate, I'm hoping for a good match. Go rest up, guys! BTW, is it my computer? Or is the Streaming video down for everyone? Was working great yesterday! fco253 06-19-2004, 12:58 PM BTW, I enjoy even more his wins when Marine is around.... Another disgraceful doping related comment this time Marine? ...no? tennyfan 06-19-2004, 01:00 PM It's also good that Coria and Ancic finished pretty much at the same time so they have equal time to rest. And lucky for both that they finished their matches in relatively short time. Rain, rain ... stay away. whirlwind 06-19-2004, 01:01 PM I think Coria v. I think Ancic moves really well for his 6'4". tennyfan 06-19-2004, 01:02 PM whirlwind, I think he moves well, too ... but a bit awkward looking because of his height ... at least in my opinion. The height certainly helps him at the net! So I guess it doesn't matter if he's graceful or not. LOL whirlwind 06-19-2004, 01:05 PM I know what you mean but it's not a dancing competition ;). Anyway, I think it's gonna be a good match. Completely different styles as you said. tennyfan 06-19-2004, 01:18 PM whirlwind, true, it's not a dancing contest. I didn't mean to offend, as I was only making an observation. :-) :-) Not sure why I notice these things. A friend of mine has a son who is naturally gifted athletically and he just has a grace about him when he plays soccer. I have another friend whose son is awkward and not gifted athletically, but he plays with a lot of heart and therefore does equally as well. I just find it interesting. :-) boliviana 06-19-2004, 01:23 PM I think sometimes players underestimate the not too tall, skinny guy from Argentina and they pay the price. What he lacks in physical strength he makes up for in determination, stubborness and tenacity! Really impressive week for him . . . he isn't #3 in the world on clay . . . he's #3 in the world period. This week he proved he is worthy of the ranking. Very cool! :D athie 06-19-2004, 01:39 PM Coria still has to play Ancic yus? :D tennyfan 06-19-2004, 01:40 PM Boliviana - I totally agree with your statement. Coria is one very determined tennis player, which goes a long way. Interestingly, here's where Coria stands on all surfaces: Overall - 3 Clay - 1 Hard Courts - 8 Carpet - 38 Grass - 172 Source of information from this very informative tennis site: http://tennisfacts.com/ratings.htm star 06-19-2004, 01:44 PM I admire more and more Coria each day! Good for you, Guille! :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: jenglisbe 06-19-2004, 01:49 PM When are the SF matches going to start? athie 06-19-2004, 02:08 PM Center Court Matches - Saturday 19th June Lina Krasnoroutskaya vs. Mary Pierce Mario Ancic vs. Martin Verkerk - Ancic wins 6-3 6-3 Mary Pierce vs. Klara Koukalova - in progress Pierce leads the 1st set 5 - 2 Tommy Robredo vs. Michael Llodra Guillermo Coria vs. Mario Ancic Those are the scheduled singles matches for center court, the others were dbles so didn't bother posting them. jenglisbe 06-19-2004, 02:35 PM Why wouldn't they move a men's match to another court so they ensure the matches get completed? Maybe there isn't a forecast of rain the rest of the day... athie 06-19-2004, 02:37 PM Good point tbh but I dunno how happy they would be playing off center court. Besides the live visual feed is on center court only which means if they stay put we get to watch it :) Think the sound's gone on the feed again? :( athie 06-19-2004, 03:09 PM Scoreboard Result.... athie 06-19-2004, 03:18 PM Ancic vs. Coria has just started!! (left menu for feed and scoreboard) athie 06-19-2004, 03:37 PM Ancic holds serve to lead 2 - 1 in the 1st set vs. Coria. Cple of ace's from Ancic! Llodra leads 2 - 1 in the 1st set vs. Robredo Auscon 06-19-2004, 03:40 PM hadnt checked in on the goings on for the Ordina open for the last few days Just went to the website now and cant believe that Corias still there!....cant put it down to all of his opponents having bad days, so he must be playing some great grass court tennis Already put some real pressure on Ancic's serve too athie 06-19-2004, 03:40 PM Coria holds serve (40/30) to tie 2 games all in the 1st set Dble fault from Coria there athie 06-19-2004, 03:41 PM Yeah he's been doing pretty well on the grass! fco253 06-19-2004, 03:43 PM Tournament director is an idiot or what? This is third time in 4 matches Coria won't play in Center Court! Have they forgotten he's 1st seed and 3rd in the world? They simply had to choose between him and Robredo-LLodra, and moved him! Talking about lack of respect... athie 06-19-2004, 03:44 PM Dble fault from Ancic to start Ancic holds serve (40/15) to lead 3 - 2 in the 1st set vs. Coria athie 06-19-2004, 03:45 PM fco253 I know what you mean :( I guess it's a time issue and the weather hasn't been that great they just want to get the games out of the way. I've heard Center Court is like a cow field! athie 06-19-2004, 03:54 PM Coria holds serve (40/0) to tie 4 games all in the 1st set with an ACE :D athie 06-19-2004, 03:57 PM Llodra holds serve (40/0) to win the 1st set 6 - 3 vs. Robredo Ancic holds serve (40/0) to lead 5 - 4 in the 1st set vs. Coria. Ancic finished that off with and ACE! fco253 06-19-2004, 03:58 PM Athie the first two matches he was moved to make room to Dutch players. I can understand that to a point, the director must sell tickets and maybe he knows Dutch people prefer to see Sluiter or Verkerk than Coria (In Argentina ATP is different, they never, NEVER, move Moya or Guga out of Center Court). But each country is diff, so I won't question it much. But the SF is absurd!!!!!! the :( y had Tommy-Llodra at the same hour and choosed THAT game. We would have had the match on TV here and now we won't. Neither live stream. :( athie 06-19-2004, 04:04 PM Coria holds serve to tie 5 games all in the 1st set Ancic throwing 3/4?? breakpoints away there! athie 06-19-2004, 04:06 PM An ACE to start form Ancic who holds serve (40/0) and leads the 1st set 6 - 5 vs. Coria aprillej26 06-19-2004, 04:07 PM Hi I was wondering what's going on now with Guille's game? fco253 06-19-2004, 04:07 PM Tennyfan, maybe you are right. But I doubt it. It's true the court it's awful..but the have used also all week court 1, its not likely they take better care of an auxiliar court... athie 06-19-2004, 04:08 PM fco253 :( Seems a bit daft doesn't it. I'm by no means defeding the organisers but I guess they had their reasons whatever they were. athie 06-19-2004, 04:11 PM Coria holds serve to tie 6 games all in the 1st set vs. Ancic Tiebreak.... tennyfan 06-19-2004, 04:12 PM Great job for Guille coming back from 0-40 to win his service game. That's news to me! He only had cramps in the F and some wraps around his thighs but shoulder? What next?? tennyfan 06-19-2004, 04:19 PM Coria was rubbing his should during the Kohlman match. He said on his official site that he didn't know if he could play 2 games in one day because his shoulder is bothering him. Tis always something! athie 06-19-2004, 04:19 PM Llodra leads 5 - 2 in the 2nd set (Llodra wins the 1st set 6 - 3) fco253 06-19-2004, 04:20 PM Wow, nice scape from Guille... he saved SIX SET POINTS in 4-5 and 5-6... this is not over... I dont know how many times Ancic had the chance 2 win the first set, and GUILLE DID!!! :D:D:D:yeah::yeah::woohoo: tennyfan 06-19-2004, 04:21 PM I don't remember him complaining about the shoulder at Roland Garros, but he said it's bothered him "since" Roland Garos, so maybe it happened in practice after RG. This sounds like a great match! Too bad no live stream. :0( athie 06-19-2004, 04:22 PM Ancic breaks serve to lead the 2nd set 1 - 0 tennyfan 06-19-2004, 04:22 PM And Ancic breaks at love! He must be steaming mad he left that first set get away from him! RogiFan88 06-19-2004, 04:23 PM It bothered him in Halle? Hmm... Ancic's a doe. Coria doesn't ever give up. fco253 06-19-2004, 04:23 PM Are you surprised about Coria´s constant muscular problems? Take this into account: he weighs only 65 k (you can't put too much mass in that frame), doesn't take a single vitamine and he plays a lot (since he usually goes the whole week)... I think he probably will have to live with these things thru his career. athie 06-19-2004, 04:24 PM Game, Set, Match to Llodra 6 - 3, 6 - 2 tennyfan 06-19-2004, 04:26 PM Whatever Coria lacks in size, he makes up for in pure heart and fierce determination. He's fought back again from 0-40 to duece on Ancic's serve. Ancic's probably thinking "This guy just won't die!" LOL RogiFan88 06-19-2004, 04:27 PM LLodra wins... not surprising -- le'ts see if he wins this title v. Guille. It's just that this is the first time I've heard about the shoulder; I know about his leg, his blister, other physical probs and the cramps. athie 06-19-2004, 04:28 PM Dble fault from Ancic and an ACE Ancic holds serve to lead 2 - 0 in the 2nd set vs. Coria (Coria wins the 1st set 7 - 6) RogiFan88 06-19-2004, 04:29 PM Yep Guille is about the most determined out there, after Hewitt and AA, no doubt about it -- he wants to win every tourney he plays. He's also v consistent and accurate and focussed -- that's how you win! Often smaller guys are smarter as Marat pointed out. tennyfan 06-19-2004, 04:33 PM Ancic showing some fight too battling back from 40-0.
