I think in a sense there is more value in this SF 75 points than his 700 final points on clay.

They said to him "you don't truly belong in Top tier if you don play everywhere"

He didn't take offense. He said they were right. "If i want to be Nº1, I must be competitive all year on every surface, so i'll try hard to learn to play on grass".

He could have easily made his career with only his wins in clay. HIs physical disadvantage obviously gets exposed on fast surfaces. But he fights.

I love his determination and his desire. Other Top players would thrieve with such an attitude.

I think Coria v. Ancic will be a good match. David vs. Goliath. There style of play is so entirely different. I find Ancic a bit "awkward" in his movement where as Guille moves with a bit of grace on the courts. At any rate, I'm hoping for a good match. Go rest up, guys!

It's also good that Coria and Ancic finished pretty much at the same time so they have equal time to rest. And lucky for both that they finished their matches in relatively short time. Rain, rain ... stay away.

I think Ancic moves really well for his 6'4".

whirlwind, I think he moves well, too ... but a bit awkward looking because of his height ... at least in my opinion. The height certainly helps him at the net! So I guess it doesn't matter if he's graceful or not. LOL

whirlwind, true, it's not a dancing contest. I didn't mean to offend, as I was only making an observation. :-) :-) Not sure why I notice these things. A friend of mine has a son who is naturally gifted athletically and he just has a grace about him when he plays soccer. I have another friend whose son is awkward and not gifted athletically, but he plays with a lot of heart and therefore does equally as well. I just find it interesting. :-)

I think sometimes players underestimate the not too tall, skinny guy from Argentina and they pay the price. :devil: What he lacks in physical strength he makes up for in determination, stubborness and tenacity!

Really impressive week for him . . . he isn't #3 in the world on clay . . . he's #3 in the world period. This week he proved he is worthy of the ranking.

I can understand that to a point, the director must sell tickets and maybe he knows Dutch people prefer to see Sluiter or Verkerk than Coria (In Argentina ATP is different, they never, NEVER, move Moya or Guga out of Center Court). But each country is diff, so I won't question it much.

But the SF is absurd!!!!!! the :( y had Tommy-Llodra at the same hour and choosed THAT game.

Yep Guille is about the most determined out there, after Hewitt and AA, no doubt about it -- he wants to win every tourney he plays. He's also v consistent and accurate and focussed -- that's how you win! Often smaller guys are smarter as Marat pointed out.
