Is it possible that there's no cheering thread for Roko?!? Well, if that's the case, then I'm starting one!

After qualifying for the 2008 AO and then reaching the QF of the Heilbronn challenger (he beat Berrer in the second round), he will reach a new career-high ranking when the January 28 rankings come out. Go, Roko!!!

Having reached the QF at Belgrade, Roko might reach a new career-high ranking next week (for sure if he reaches the SF). He doesn't have many points to defend over the next 2-3 months, so it's very possible that he'll break into the top 100 for the first time.

If that happens, and since Ancic will probably be back in the top 100 soon (if he remains healthy). there would be five Croats in the top 100. That would be impressive! I believe the record is four, which happened recently when Ljubicic, Karlovic, Cilic and Ancic were all among the top 100 at the same time.

Now that he's in the SF, Roko is guaranteed to have a new career-high ranking, somewhere around 110-115. If he wins his next match, he'll move up to around 105. What's even better, he doesn't have many points to defend through the end of May (only 66).

Roko plays a qualifier in the first round of Zagreb. If he wins, he'll most likely just squeeze into the top 100 for the first time. This week he's ranked #101 and is just two points behind #100 and four points behind #99. If Roko wins his first match in Zagreb he would earn 15 points; unfortunately, he's losing 10 points this week (from last year's Rotterdam tournament). Still, he would net five points, which should be just enough to get him in. At that point there would be five Croats in the top 100!

Roko is seeded #7 at RG qualies. Today he won his first-round match (def. Catalin Gard, 62 61). In the second round, he plays Martin Fischer, ranked 256. If he wins that, he'll play the winner of Ivan Miranda (#171) vs Alberto Brizzi (#292) for a spot in the MD.

Roko has an excellent chance to qualify--hope he doesn't blow it!

No, unfortunately, not even if he had beaten Djokovic today. He needed to reach the QFs to get into the top 100.

On to Wimbledon! He'll almost certainly be one of the top eight seeds, so should have a good chance of qualifying.

Roko won his first-round match at Wimbledon today. He beat Horna (who has yet to win a first-round match in six tries) easily, 76 63 61.

Depending on where the point cut-off falls, Roko *just* might make it into the top 100 after Wimbledon. If not, he'll be very, very close.

In the next round he plays Lopez, the #31 seed. Good luck, Roko!

I don't know why he hasn't played lately--I too hope he's not injured.

He's #4 on the qualy list for the US Open, after Ancic's withdrawal. Given that several more players on the MD entry list will likely withdraw due to injuries (Tsonga, Baghdatis, Ljubicic, Koubek?) Roko might just barely squeeze into the main draw.

Deathless Mortal

Chela has just withdrawn so Roko now moves up to #3 on the qualy entry list. Given how many other higher-ranked players are injured this year, it's pretty certain that Roko will squeeze into the main draw.

Too bad about Ljubo, but at least he's being replaced by another Croat ;)

At the US Open Roko is only defending 8 points (he won one match in qualies last year) so even if he loses in the first round (worth 5 points) this year, he'll only lose 3 points. On the other hand, if he wins his first match he'll likely move into the top 90, for a new career-high ranking.

Good luck, Roko. Hope you get a winnable first-round match. (I hope I'm not jinxing him!)

Roko drew a qualifier in the first round. Qualifiers can be dangerous because they come in with recent on-site match experience. Nonetheless this will be an excellent opportunity for Roko to get his first US Open MD win. Hope he doesn't disappoint!

This could be a very winnable match. Of course if he draws Kendrick he'd most certainly lose, but he would have to beat Minar, Naso, Dabul, Zib, Cipolla and could beat some other players. Hopefully he'd be lucky. IMO 2nd round is winnable too but Roko would have to play his best tennis.

Karanusic can't complain. He couldn't have done much better for the 1st round of a GS event. Sweeting is ranked 276. Of the 16 qualifiers, only two are ranked lower than him and that's because they're coming back from injuries (Zib and Minar).

Sweeting's best results (by far) this year are 2nd round in Miami and two challenger QFs. He has lost six of his last eight matches. Last year he lost in the first round of the US Open.

This is an excellent opportunity for Roko. C'mon, Roko, don't disappoint. You can do it!!!

Roko plays tomorrow, first match on a side court. My concern is that Sweeting, as a qualifier, is coming in having played three matches on the grounds over the past week; he'll be more match-ready and much more familiar and comfortable with the surroundings. Roko should win based on rank and recent results but as we know, match results are never guaranteed.

Good luck, Roko. Win this one match and you'll very likely move into the top 90 for the first time!

Excellent win for Roko, 75 75 36 62. It's only his third singles MD win in a GS event (also Wimbledon '06 and '08). With it, he'll move to a new career-high rank of around 90.

In the 2nd round he plays Nishikori (#126). It'll be a tough match but Roko can't complain. There aren't many lower-ranked players in the 2nd round of a major (Nishikori was the very last person to make it into the MD directly). In any event, it's better than having to play Monaco (#29 seed), who lost to Nishikori today.

This is a good chance for Roko to reach the 3rd round of a major for the first time in his career. Go for it, Roko, and good luck!

Boy, did I ever jinx Roko! He dropped in the rankings from 96 at the end of 2008 to 189 (end of 2009) then to 424 (end of 2010).

But now he's having a mini-resurgence. Last week he was runner-up at a $15K in India. He beat the #3 and #2 seeds in straights, then lost to Yuki Bhambri, a local player and world #1 junior in 2009.

This week he was runner-up at another $15K in India. He beat the #8 seed by the strange score of 60 36 60 and in the final lost to the top seed, Adam Kellner.
