Sometimes I think Viktor just feels bad for his opponents self esteem. I think he thought long and hard about beating Rafa, but then realized that if Rafa won the AO and Novak did his job, Federer almost wouldn't be #1, so he tanked that match against Rafa to do the world a bit of good.

well, actually I'm from Russia :p ;)

It will be pretty empty on Friday :o Matches start at 1 pm, and for a lot of people it is impossible to finish work day so early, so many of them will come later in the evening.

and as for crowd... I really felt sorry for Germany team in last year semies, because the crowd was :cuckoo: :cuckoo:  I had a feeling that the most of audience just arrived from football match.

Niki Pilic: Djokovic worked as obsessed
from championat.ru

-How did you get to know Novak?
-His father had a restaurant with two tennis courts. One coach, a friend of mine, watched little Novak playing there and called me and said: "Niki, I saw one boy. I think he is talented, you should see him". So Novak came to me with his grandfather. Even during the warm-up before the training I noticed all his advantages : even he was only 12 years old, he was flexible as a pro. I realized at once he was out of the ordinary.
He was not just talented, but also very disciplined. He was like Boris Becker in his intention to win matches. Even when he was 13 he showed unusual intellect in analyzing a match he lost.
He had an extremely sense of purpose. He was very strong mental and he had will to play and to win. Perfect coordination, perfect movements and perfect eye aren't enough, mental is also very important. Novak was eager to learn. I called him “plaster” because his wrist on serve was fixed but he trained as he was obsessed

-After 5 year you weren't his coach anymore were you?
-Novak's parents asked me if I was going to travel with him to tournament all over the world. But at that time I had problems with my academy, so Marian Wajda became his new coach. I stil helped him with advise.
I was sure Novak would be a great tennis player but I couldn't say he was going to win Grand Slam tournament.

-Did the events in Serbia influence much in Novak?
-I didn't pay much attention to the fact that he was from Serbia and came up during the war. But of course he knows where he was born.

-If you compare Djokovic and Federer, can you say, that Novak is as strong as Federer?
-If Federer is playing 100% his abilities, he is unbeatable. But if he playes 90%, and Novak -100%, then Djokovic will win. This will go on during the next several years and after that Novak will be #1.

-What do you think about 2008 tennis year?
-Djokovic is much closer to Federer now and is on a level with Nadal. This is great for ATP tour. There are also new hopes - Tsonga and Ferrer. 2008 seems to be an exciting year.

Herdwick

He had an extremely sense of purpose. He was very strong mental and he had will to play and to win. Perfect coordination, perfect movements and perfect eye aren't enough, mental is also very important. Novak was eager to learn. I called him “plaster” because his wrist on serve was fixed but he trained as he was obsessed

That was the sentence I needed translation for...I saw "plaster" but couldn't get the meaning in that sentence on russian:lol:

although I like both Youzhny and Zimonjic I was rooting for Nenad because he fought just bravely :worship: when a girl next to me said to her boyfriend, angry looking at me: "WTF?! She'd better go home to her Serbia and clap there!" :bolt: :rolls: :haha:
what a pity Misha won the whole thing :o

Nole and Janko were at Serbian bench. Nole looked very sad, pale, maybe he had temperature  he didn't follow much what was going on the court. I noticed Janko sometimes gave him a nudge, and only after then Nole began to clap and root for Nenad. I really have no idea how on earth Nole is going to play doubles tomorrow  :tape: Janko seemed to be more fit  at least he chatted and smiled a lot

I will write about Viktor's match in his thread

WHY DIDNT I RECORD VIKTOR? :bigcry:

I have the whole match except a minute or two in the last set. I will burn it on DVDs and sent them to you.

I may take you up on that if TTC doesn't reshow it... I don't always trust their programming...

Nole needs to suck it up and play. We need him. :p

What a bitch. But don't worry, I've had that happen to me, too. :p A few times, actually.
