come on argentina

rocketassist
01-24-2008, 09:20 PM
The Argentine atmosphere will be very intimidating- I wonder if Muzza will get barracked and taunted. If by some crazy miracle we won the tie, I'd be worried about getting out alive if I was a GB fan- their atmosphere is like a South American football one and they could start a riot. :p

and Diego will be there too. :)

Corey Feldman

yeah they are hooligans

and clay doesnt help, Muzza's crap on it

Why post that here? There is surely a DC thread in the Argentine forum..

JustJames
01-25-2008, 04:53 PM
Murray is by far our best chance of a singles point.. I can't see either Boggo or Baker taking a set off any of the Argentinians, even in the dead rubber. Even if A Murray managed to pull of the spectacular, Jamie isn't exactly a natural born clay dubs player so we may have some problems in that area.

We are the underdogs though so hopefully whoever plays they'll take lots of chances and just go for it.. Then there is nothing to regret :)

I just wanna see Maradona in the front row swinging his argie scarf around with that belly of his hanging out so i can piss myself laughing

Is Andy playing DC, Marseille, Rotterdam AND Dubai before IW/Miami?

What a nut-job. I assume he'll drop Rotterdam if he has a good run in Marseille?

Corey Feldman
01-26-2008, 03:44 AM
Yeah he's playing them all, what a guy :D

i expect something like .. good result-blow out-decent result

or maybe he'll go like Ljubicic in 2005 FINAL-FINAL-FINAL

then good stuff over in America again where he defends a heap of points.

NinaNina19

Go Andy!!! Although I'm not optimistic about their chances.

l_mac
01-26-2008, 08:25 PM
I'm a bad fan. I'd rather Argentina went through because they have a great chance to win this year and I'd love to see them do it.

It will be interesting to get a look at Andy on clay.

Corey Feldman
01-26-2008, 08:26 PM
It'll be interesting to see how the Argie fans get onto him when he's throwing his fits and moaning

they are brutal down there - throw chairs and everything

It will be interesting to get a look at Andy on clay. You're not a bad fan. Props for being realistic. I don't see GB going very far in DC this year. They have a very bad draw. Wow, Andy is going to play a lot before IW.

Andy's out of DC, with an knee injury.

I hope he's not injured, and is just pulling out to save himself for the upcoming tournaments. It's hard to see how he'll be able to play Marseille now.

Andi-M
01-31-2008, 10:37 PM
I miss Andy too....glad he's not gonna play DC though he's soo injury prone

but his schedule nevertheless is still quite packed I think he should give Dubai a miss the week before IW. I know its a biggie but still 5 weeks of tennis in a row?

NinaNina19
02-01-2008, 05:31 AM
I think it's good that he missed Davis Cup. He really can't risk it with his knee. He's going to be playing a lot of tennis so he needs to be as fit as possible.

Corey Feldman
02-01-2008, 06:53 AM
I just hope his Knee is ok, and doesnt keep him out for months ....

NinaNina19

I doubt it is serious. He's probably pulling out as a precaution.

NinaNina19
02-01-2008, 09:49 PM
I don't know where to post this but I'm thinking of convincing my parents to take me to Miami. Maybe I will get to see Andy play (would be the main reason I'm going, plus Ernests if he makes it past 1r).

Corey Feldman
02-01-2008, 09:54 PM
Good luck to you for that Nina

yeah Key Biscane seems to be a great venue, everyone loves it

but sometimes the players dont like that wind

i hope Gulbis and especially Muzza go far for you, and me!

also they have WTA as well in that week

NinaNina19
02-01-2008, 10:18 PM
I went to the U.S. Open last year and it was awesome. I got to see Andy playing live in the 1r. I would really like to see him play again. I don't know which day to buy tickets though. I don't want to buy them for the wrong day and miss Andy.

Corey Feldman
02-01-2008, 11:48 PM
Maybe you could watch him practise... and grab his autograph :D

Corey Feldman

Hopefully:D. I'll at least try to get a video of him practicing. Even if it has to be through the fence.

Doesn't sound as though the 'injury' will keep him out for months, from the Daily Mail:-

Andy Murray, Britain's top tennis player, didn't impress the Davis Cup hierarchy when he left it to agent Patricio Apey to make the phone call to team boss John Lloyd informing him that a knee injury would prevent him playing in the Cup tie against Argentina in Buenos Aires next week. Just 15 minutes before the call was made, Murray could be spotted at the National Training Centre in Roehampton enjoying a football kickabout, bad knee or not.

Andi-M

Even if injury is fake i dont care he needs to concentrate on himself not GB...they are hopeless.

Yes but was there any need to fabricate a story rather than simply declaring that he wanted to concentrate on his hard court season? Honesty always pays off better in the long run; i.e a better relationship with the DC Team and LTA.

Totally agree with you on this. I wish he'd stop going between saying he's 'committed' to Davis Cup and loves playing for his country and then saying he has to concentrate on his ranking.

I'm sure he'd get more respect if he just made up his mind and told the truth. He's played the tie he needed to qualify for Olympic selection so why not just admit that he's not interested in playing for a team that isn't going to win the tournament anyway.

Duncan
02-08-2008, 08:59 PM
Andy wasn't injured. His brother is pissed at him for skipping this. Imagine playing Sunday and then getting back to France to probably play on tuesday for his 1st round match. Poor kid would have been tired....

1 word that describes Andy after this pull out.

Wanker.

Hurts me to say that but his excuses are starting to wear thin. Very annoyed with him at the moment. Pretty sure when he appears at Wimbledon this year maybe the organisers will bump him to an outside court. Would be fully deserved. Also expect some boo's to come from the crowd.

Corey Feldman
02-08-2008, 09:19 PM
Its not that big a deal to me Duncan

if this was a winnable tie and he done this, then he'd deserve a hard time... but even with him i still dont believe he would have beat Calleri and Nalb - and even then what are his chances to be fresh to play all 3 ties

we are a 1 man team and they dont go to places like ARG and win

so he saves energy and doesnt get any needless injuries (like Henman always got when he tried to do it all alone), at least he might get to play Wimbledon this year

NinaNina19
02-09-2008, 05:46 AM
Well said.

NinaNina19
02-09-2008, 08:45 PM
Andy takes on a qualifier in the first round of Marseille. He's in Djoko's half of the draw unfortunately :(. Hopefully Novak pulls out or something or retires in one of his matches as he's ill. If he doesn't, this will give Andy a good chance of beating him as he is not in good form.

Corey Feldman
02-10-2008, 01:01 AM
Not a good draw for Andy imo, Wawrinka in 2r he coulda done without

i feel when he finally beats Nole, he will move to another level, knowing he can beat the lucky Serb ..

so in a way, i want them both to make the Semis, of course i wont cry if Djoke loses early or WD :p

Andi-M
02-11-2008, 10:48 PM
I know alot of Brits want to see him lose in Marsielle cos they cant get over this stupid DC thing...but he will shut them up.

Allez Andy to title numero 5 :D

Corey Feldman
02-13-2008, 10:36 PM
I cant even remember the draw in this tournament other than Andy-Nole SF!

sounded like Nole has alot of Frenchies before the Semis

Ancic defeated Tsonga today, good

His last 2 matches with Novak weren't too close though.I think he was tired or injured in those last 2 matches v Nole.... but he wouldnt say it as an excuse like Nole..

no way would he lose so badly to him, especially the 1-6 0-6 in Miami

sometimes i think he's not fired up enough against his fellow young guns

i was thinking of the records

0-2 Rafa
0-2 Gasquet
0-2 Baggy
0-3 Nole
1-2 Wawa
1-1 Berdy
1-1 Tsonga

3-13.

Blake won which means Murray can't be 9th if he wins. Oh well, back in the top 10 I guess.

That's why I can't make myself bet. Plus I want Andy to win so badly. I'm afraid :scared:

Ginepri is losing me money.
Nina thanks for the money offer :D And I have a tip for you be very careful about betting on Ginepri. I love Robby dearly, but he has zero confidence in his own ability--why I don't know  Apparently the win over Mardy was tainted a bit which I didn't know until the commentators before tonight match said Mardy was having problems with his knee. If Mardy would have been healthy, Robby would have probably lost

So glad he won and I too won!
Hope he does well in Rotterdam too!

BTW isn't there a chat thread on Murray's forum? :rolls:
I thought Murray is being more hyped and popluar by a lot of his fans but apparently the forum is not that much activated than Gasquet's.

Normally I would agree but Andy had a lot of points to defend from San Jose. Missing it, he would've slipped down in the rankings. And obviously this will affect Andy's confidence going into Miami and IW.

Isn't Jamie older brother?

Murray pulled out of the World Group tie in Buenos Aires on the grounds he did want to risk injury by switching from hard courts to clay and back again, a decision that led to criticism from his younger brother Jamie.

I don't rate Haase (but this means zilch, I am a know-nothing fangirl) and there is no way Andy should be losing to him. In my opinion.

This article makes it sound like he didn't give a crap about the match :(
Britain's Andy Murray suffered a shock 7-5 6-3 defeat by Robin Haase in the opening round of the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam. The world number 10 conceded the first set when Haase broke his serve in the 12th game to take the advantage.

And the Dutchman held on for the win after breaking Murray's serve in the eighth game of the second set.

Meanwhile, top seed Rafael Nadal reached the second round by beating Russia's Dmitry Tursunov 6-4 6-4.

Murray refused to blame his defeat on fatigue, saying: "I wasn't tired physically or mentally, I felt decent."

The loss came just three days after the Scot's second title of the year at the Open 13 tournament in Marseille, a victory which propelled him back into the world's top 10.

"I had trouble with my return game," said Murray. "The court here is much slower than in Marseille."

Murray had made a positive start at the Ahoy Indoor Arena, but failed to make the most of his two early break points as his 20-year-old opponent fought back to take the first game of the match.

The turning point came in the 12th game as Haase - ranked 84 places below Murray in the world - upped his return game to earn three set points against serve.

Although Murray managed to hold on, he could do nothing about the fourth as Haase smashed a winning forehand to take the first set.

The second set went with serve until the eighth game when Murray's inconsistent second serve was punished by Haase, who took a 5-3 lead and served out to set up a clash with Germany's Michael Berrer.

"This is just one of those matches you can afford in tournaments like this," Murray added. "It will not affect your ranking like Master Series or Grand Slams.

"Now I will have some days off before I start preparing for Dubai and the Indian Wells and Miami stretch. It still has been a good start of the year."

Andy  He cost me some money too :fiery: But Andy has been; and I guess still is, a player who gets defeated by players you think he would have no problem with  But I know many players don't do well in the next Tournament after a Tournament that they won. And in all fairness I once got to catch a little of a Haase Match on TV a while back and I think this guy may be a "comer" on the Tour.

*random rant*

 to the people who brand Andy as nothing more than a dour, humourless stick. The videos of him messing about with the other people down at Roehampton show that he's got a well enough developed sense of humour - he just chooses to be selective about whom he shares it with :p
