Good morning all :wavey:

Hey, does anyone know what happened to the "learn Spanish" thread in the non-tennis?

Hi all,

Jime, maybe its moved to the chatthreads or something?

No it's definitely completely vanished. I was having fun in there. I've sent Amanda a PM.

My guess: NATAS81. Just a theory.

What did Nata do?

jazz_girl
04-06-2005, 12:21 PM
It's been deleted for sure. I tried to access it from the link that I had from the rep point, and a message appeared telling me that it was disabled  I wonder what happened there. It was such a fun and nice thread!

sigmagirl91

NATAS was being a general a-hole. Then again, I may be wrong. I don't know if he ever paid the thread a visit.

jazz_girl

Yeah, she/he posted there, but nothing bad...we were all talking in a very good manner, that's why I'm so surprised!

sigmagirl91
04-06-2005, 12:25 PM
I don't understand that either. It was a rather entertaining thread. I am curious to see what Amanda thought of it. There was nothing offensive about it-unless the thread starter got banned or temporarily suspended.

No...Leena was banned and her threads are still here...

I assumed something must have happened when I fell asleep.

sigmagirl91

I assume that much, too, gravity. Maybe someone got really carried away and posted something crazy. Who knows, right?

Well I realise there's far too many idiots taking great pleasure in trying to ruin the site. And I certainly don't envy Amanda's job. But still, deleting a thread like our Learn Spanish one because of one person/troll seems like a huge overreaction to me. It was probably the most friendly and innocent threads on MTF. I can't believe anything that bad happened overnite to warrant deleting it.

I posted in it a couple of times. I learned (and re-learned) some interesting things.

It was a huge eyeopener for me. Showed a little more why people have such a large grin on their faces whenever I open my mouth to speak some Spanish to them.

Still if my bad Spanish can bring a smile to the face of one person in a day, it's not such a terrible thing. Especially in a country where too many people are still suffering in a sickening way.

I'd tell you one thing I would remove the clutter in GM and merge a lot of threads so we don't have repeat stuff on there.

It's funny how the Argentines used to sneer at everyone else in South America, but they can't do that now, well mostly porteños anyway.

Or post some disclaimer for new people before they post a thread: please read other threads to see if the topic you have considered has been discussed before. It would, of course, prevent repeat threads.

There actually should be a sticky FAQ section there in GM.

And why there isn't, is beyond me.

jazz_girl

I think there should be a campaign to clean up GM there is too much nonsense on there now, even more than usual.

Many people from the region have Americanised accents when they speak English, that mostly comes from TV, but this case it's different with Pernfors.

Btw, I have found some old Kent photos and they will come out during the clay season.

Well, my memory's not very clear so you'll have to content yourself with what my mum told me about that special day. In fact, I was more than in a hurry to see the outside world. As I was scheduled to say "hello" only 2 1/2 months later! But it seems that Fabrice was luckier than me and saw the wonderfull surrounding world sooner than me anyway! :)

Yep! 2.2 kgs only...so small that my mum was scared to break me when she held me in her arms. And they also put me in that cold and unfriendly glass cage, which I disliked so much, from what Mum told me! But don't worry, I've grown up a bit since. Well, just a bit... ;)

Those rain delays are gonna drive me crazy! But Gravity, Nadal has just had the time to finish his match against Monfils before another stop, which interrupted the match between Tim and Mariano. I seriously doubt the whole schedule will be respected for today. Considering all the matches left to play, there are not enough indoor places to welcome all of them.

Yeah the rain ruined the day for me so frustrating matches keep starting and stopping. And I'm just a spectator! I can't imagine how difficult it must be for the players trying to stay focused on the job with the interruptions. At least Guille, Gaston and Rafa all had time to win.

Disappointed Mariano couldn't finish off Henman tonight... he looked very good out there though, made some amazing shots and left his opponent in a daze. I've never seen a player happier and quicker to run off court than Henman did as the rain started falling.

Well I haven't been very lucky with the mtaches I wanted to see today. As all I've seen from Gaston's was the tie-break. No images from Mariano vs Tim.
OK, I've seen Coria vs Mathieu, Ferrero vs Karlovic, Nadal vs Monfils, and part of Saulnier vs Srichaphan. How I envy you if you have been able to see Gaston and Mariano...

I'm sorry for you Betty. But this was my only free afternoon where I could watch tennis live, so you can understand why I feel frustrated. Of course, compared to those who haven't seen any tennis today, I shouldn't complain...
