singles event at the 2004 Olympic Tennis Event based on the recognised
international singles computer rankings of 14 June 2004.
A National Association/National Olympic Committee who has more than four (4)

Any player nominated and accepted for the singles event will
automatically be eligible for selection for the doubles event.

hmm so I wonder who will be the 4th US player, since Agassi has said he is not playing. Ginepri? Dent? Blake?

Champion number 1

So basically only Volandri will carry Italy's hopes it seems. Is there a qualifying tournament for this or not? and what surface is it on?

Can people please tell me these things.

nitsansh

There's no qualifying for the Olympics. If any qualified player withdraw he will be replaced by a player from the "next in" list, or if such player is not available by a player who only qualified in doubles.

The surface and type of ball are identical to those at US Open.

All other details are available in other posts in this forum (check as far as 3 months back)

If this is the list of the players when will we know who is going exactly? I mean when is the deadline for the players to accept?

I guess that all the players who are going to the Legg Mason Tennis tournament in the US won't be going to Athens since the dates are the same...

I think I saw Agassi and Hewitt were going there so it would make sense right? Since they have announced they weren't going to the Olympics...

Just one more question... it's about the doubles... will we know about who is playing and with whom on the same date or not?
Thanks!

Dutchie
08-04-2004, 07:18 PM
Since when is Sluiter allowed to join for Holland? The last weeks they said they wouldn't send him off for Holland to play at the Olympics!
(Haven't you heard? The ATP even threatened to stop giving points at the olympics if he and some other players couldn't go!)
It'd be great if he can go though! *fingers crossed*

I would personally love to see Henman do well. I always feel so bad for him at Wimbledon when he gets close, but he just can't get close enough. Of course I'll also be pulling for the Americans, especially Roddick, Fish, and Dent....

Why would Segudo be invited to play. If they want an African player they should go with a player like the Algerian who did well in juniors or Genius from Zimbabwe. Anyway someone here said that he declined to play. As for Sluiter he is eligible to play only for doubles either with Verkerk or with Van Lottum.
