Me too! I checked out flights and prices and I would be spending at least $1000. After my last credit card bills came in, that pretty much told me it was a no go. Then a friend asked me to buy them some concert tickets and I bought 2 extra and now they don't want them, so there's $160 in concert tickets I need to get rid of. I also was thinking of doing a whole week in Portland/Washington state since I have vacation time to use and a condo I can transfer (then add a rental car to the expenses, ouch), but my one boss is off to Belize that week and the next week and I cannot be off the same time he is.

What a waste of time this wound up being  . As soon as the tiks went on sale I tried getting on the site . Took a good 10 minutes before the order page came up. After entering all my mailing and credit card info to finish the order, I kept getting a message that the delivery method wasn't valid (the choices were Mail or Will Call. Didn't want Will Call in case I can't make it and need to sell them). I wound up releasing the tickets to try again, and then got messages that the event had passed. I tried calling, and after being on hold for several minutes the operator came on and said the presale was sold out. I'm not sure I'm going to bother to try again on the 15th. Did anybody here get through?

Not to rub salt in the wound, but I did manage to get my tickets online. Of course, I already had the order page up at ten a.m., and when I couldn't get through via phone, I jumped online pretty quickly. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Hopefully, you'll be able to get some when the general sale starts on the 15th.

The players aren't really in great shape are they?

Roddick: Recovering but probably OK
Blake: Hasn't been right after the US Open, fitness problems
Bryan/Bryan: OK
Who else for the US? :help:

Davydenko: Wrist problem
Youzhny: Badly out of form/injury problems
Andreev: Probably OK
Tursunov: Not in great form
Safin: Retired for the season and out of form.

Doesn't look iike Russia will be able to field a really potent team -- although the US will probably have to rely on Roddick to take the singles points needed.

Roddick 5-0 against Davy, and less dramatically ahead of Andreev..
