Roddick crushes ToJo 6-3, 6-2, 6-0

:hatoff:

I’m no Roddick fan, but he really looked sharp today (41W 11UE ). Rod played great from the baseline and was always at the front seat. One of his best matches in a long time I would say.

Never challenged by Tojo. It’s sad to see Tomas decline since the eye injury. He just doesn’t have it anymore. The Wimby SF 2005 against ARod he could easily had won but today he was light years behind.

If Andy plays like today against Fed he could make some noise.

Thanks Sweden for picking hard courts in the Davis Cup in a few weeks. :D

seems like the same kinda display like the one vs. fish at the ao earlier this year. we know how that worked out for him in the next match.

yeah, there is 3 in the mix definitely

BTW, it's 5-0 15-30 and ToJo might break here

Doesn't Roddick need to serve it out?
Not that it'll matter anyway...

Yes, he looked VERY impressive today, and no, this has no implications for the rest of the tournament, seeing how bad Johansson was.

Roddick is certainty for the QF (Berdych couldn't beat him on his home clay :retard: ), and that'll be his last match.

there's a huge diff between indoors and outdoors

Tojo indoors is 10 times the player he is outdoors
and Ducky is half the player.

Roddick crushed Haas in the AO QF and we know what happened next...What year was that?
And what happened thereafter?

Wouldn't quite feel like a major if we couldn't think this at one point, and all look silly, now would it?

Didn't watch the first set much, but overall it looked like an excellent performance from Roddick. His forehand disappears alot but today that was not the case. He should definitely make it to the Quarters.

SO what are you trying to say? You think ToJo could beat Roddick?

not the way he is now.
he's 32, with one bad eye, doubtful.

Tojo WAS one of the best indoor players in last few yrs

On this form Roddick is probably 3rd favourite after Federer and Djokovic albeit a long way behind the 2 most likely winners. However, put him slightly ahead of Nadal.

Great match by Andy. I haven't seen him playing so well for a long time. Maybe his best performance since US Open 2003. But it isn't for me the sign that he is able to be a dangerous opponent for Federer in the potential quarterfinal match.

Very impressive performance from Andy, despite it looking like Tojo never even appeared on court. Andy looks like he's in great form indeed. :yeah:

Watching Isner vs Federer, ANDY may not have to worry about Roger!

Ya he will, as Federer just broke him in the 2nd set so there goes that bleak chance he had

Has Roddick had his forehand back for a long time now? I've been categorically avoiding his matches for a while but today he was far from the pusher he was earlier this season.

I don't think Johansson even was that bad actually. Duck just partied like it was 2003.

Sounds like Roddick is in great form. I would love it if he brought this form and Berdych brought his play from the 2005 Paris final (indoor- I know) because if both players are playing to their upmost it could be a very fun match.

Woah, Connors is a genius. He told Andy to just smack the crap out of the ball, and now Andy gets a bagel over Tojo. Should've told him that months ago.

Tojo had nothing out there. Berdych playing to his regular level should be the favorite against Roddick.

surprised that no one seems to take notice of this match result.

roddick was incredibly impressive. This was his best match since playing nadal in usopen 2004.

His fh was back and he was flattening it out and getting great penetration. You could see the roddick intensity from the first shot. He was putting every ounce of his energy into each shot from the baseline. He went back to basics in this match and now I wonder why he took so long to figure out that his biggest strength is to "hit the crap out of the ball". He was trying to become an all court player with his net approaches etc over the past year, but he should just start cranking the fh at every opportunity and come to net selectively to finish pts and not to construct pts.

if roddick can play like this with the NYC crowd at night + his own adrenaline, only a blind fedtard would think he couldnt challenge federer.

Excellent performance by Andy but ToJo is not the player he was. The next match will show much better where Andy stands at the moment.

Jimmy Connors - :worship:

What was the quote? Something like: He told me that it doesn't matter if I win or lose, just smack the crap out of the ball.

AND -
Q. What did Jimmy say to you?
ANDY RODDICK: He said, That's one way to shut me up.

:yeah:
