Ouch! From SF to 2nd round. This loss hurts his Shaghai chances a lot.

Excellent stuff from Kohli :yeah: Well done. Great play especially on the big points.

Sorry for Misha that he couldn't defend the points from his last years run at the Open.

Kohli was solid, didn't make many mistakes. Youzhny had so many chances, especially in the 3rd and played the big points so badly. Got so frustrated that he ended up trying to hit silly winners and must've hit about 50 backhands into the net.

Didn't expect this. Too bad for Youzhny, massive point loss.

and the shitload of points says goodbye

dunno what happened, he nearly slice'n'diced Devilder, looked soild, and now - BANG! True, Kohli is his sparingpartner, won their only meeting and so on, but boy what a surprise it is

yep, the two are even good friends, kohli's basically the only friend youzhny has on tour.

Kohl was just rock solid on the big points. He recovered from 0-30 a number of times and 0-40 at least once. It was 30-30 on vitually every one of his service games that I saw.
The bp conversion, 4/8 vs 1/11 was the story of the match.

never ever seen this Kohlschreiber play b4.
But its a match you'd expect Misha to win.

Oh well all the better for Carlos (i think) :D

Kohlschreiber is a very good player, not much of a shock to me, and I don't think many others will be greatly surprised.

Exactly. And it's not like Youzhny played badly or something. Kohlschreiber raised his level big time, every time he was about to get broken.

Very good performance. :yeah:

Disappointing loss for Youzhny especially considering the ranking situation  Still haven't seen the German play but, from the score and posts here, seems like he performed very well.

Too good from Kohli - when he gets up a head of steam he can be very formidable.

Shame for Misha though - I thought it was a reasonable draw but he couldn't fight his way through.

now that he's beaten Youzhny, it's almost impossible he won't play the Davis Cup Tie.

Ja gut gespielt Kohli. :yeah:

The Eurosport pundits here spend a lot of time talking about the Davis Cup. Patrik Kuhnen is being inerviewed at almost every change of ends but I think it's obvious now what Germany's team will be. Even though Haas didn't really turn up to this year's clay season I can't see Mayer coming in at this time. Forget Becker and Kiefer.

and yesterday they even said petzschner could as well be in the mix for dc if the big dogs like haas might have to pass.

Very focused and concentrated performance of Kohlschreiber, that was a nice surprise to see. Youzhny had plenty of 0-30 or 0-40, especially in the third set, but Kohlschreiber saved these critical situations with some good play mostly.
