Lopez proving once again that he can be a very good competitor in the Slams, his five-set record is pretty healthy.

Unexpected. But his match wit The Don will be a hit whatever happens

Andreev choked from 5-3 up in the tie break :silly:

Lopez-Young could be interesting.

Excellent chance for Donald to make the fourth round of a slam. :D

The 5th set tie-break rule blows.

Say what you want about him, that was great. I really wish I could have actually seen the match, but it was definitely a fight between these two. Credit to Lopez for refusing to go away, even when he got broken in the tie-break (twice, I think). If Andreev choked, it was because Lopez had his hands wrapped around his neck.

I don't know if he'll beat Young, who's definitely on a high right now, but he's already done great. Knocked out a seeded player, and now beat a very good player who is ranked higher than him. And he's moving up the rankings.

Is this the first fifth set tie-break so far?

No. Odesnik beat Udomchoke 7-6 in the 5th as well.

Igor :o For one minute I thought he would break the decisive set tiebreak curse but it wasn't to be. By the way, ending matches like this in a slam is a joke.

Well done Feli :) Great to see Andreev taking it to 5 sets though :)

Agreed decisive set tiebreaks in slams is idiotic.

Winning lately? last two tournaments have been crap. Only won a couple matches at Wimbledon, and a few at Stuttgart, nothing much else to cheer about.

he usually loses in the 1st round , winning a couple of matches is quite an accomplishment

Igor was playing pretty well for the part of the match I saw, probably better than Lopez. That changed close to when I left, after the second set. When I came back later the court was empty and I asked someone who won. I shouldn't have. :sobbing:

I enjoyed the part of the match I saw, great shots from both.

I was at that match for a while too ...1st set thru the TB. Both were playing very well & I should have stayed. Didn't realise at the time it was going to be a marathon. But it was sooo hot & I was burning up.

Have to say I liked Iggy in that red shirt & bandana ala a pirate.

Good on Feli!!! VAMOS!!!!

not sure of the length of match. I looked on USO.org & they didn't have stats available, but it was long......at least 3 hours or more.

Bravo to both guys for battling so long in that heat!!! :worship:

5th set tiebreaker is an absolute joke and that is irrespective of who plays it.

Andreev showed again his excellent TB skills.

Great atmosphere there as both players appreciated it. What a shame Igor blew it with some uncharacteristic forehand errors when he was two points away.
