I wonder if "angina" is the right word in English

He will have re-covered within one week. It's annoying for him to be ill during a GS but he's not going to die...

azinna
08-30-2007, 04:45 PM
FYI: "angina" in US English (also UK?) is most often used for chest pain.
"angine" in French is more flexible and "angine virale" would translate best as sore throat or viral pharyngitis....or even something flu-like (would Gasquet withdraw from a Slam with a sore throat?)

Still: awaiting more details....

I understand, but sometimes working up a sweat actually helps make you feel better. I've worked out with Strep Throat as well. I know it's not the same as playing a best 3 out of 5 sets match, many players would have given it a go though.

Question: Is a w/d considered a match loss for RG and a win for DY? Specifically, does DY now have 3 "wins" ?

Question: Is a w/d considered a match loss for RG and a win for DY? Specifically, does DY now have 3 "wins" ?

My understanding is that while it's a win for Young and awards him 3rd round points, it's not a loss for Gasquet. It will not count in their H2H.

There were just as many retirements then. In the 70's and early 80's, one of the undisputed greats of all time, Borg, probably had more retirements and walkovers than most top players do today when the game is much, much more physically demanding.

I don't know how serious his fever is but when I have a fever, I'm very weak and I have the chills and I don't think I would be able to play. However, I'm extremely disappointed, was really hoping to see this match today. With this withdraw, it's fair to say not that it has been quite a disappointing year for Richard. Hope he can do better and have better LUCK next year, free of injuries and sicknesses and blisters and bad draws. Bad things just seem to happen to this kid so often.

To be fair,i thought he was quite unlucky in his career until last year......but this year,we can't say he has been unlucky with the injuries or with his draws(see for example his pretty easy draw at Wimbledon)
This said,i truly think he'll turn the corner soon and that all those frustrations will deeply increase his rage and his will to win......i want to see fire in his eyes.

Oh yes the USTA who is so worried about gambling at the US Open that it issued a letter to every single player and hung signs in employee areas decided to bribe Gasquet to get Donald Young of all people into the 3rd round. :cuckoo: From what I heard it's his throat and ears.
