No live coverage but I'm guessing it was similar to his win over Ljubicic last year.

Ouch. I wish I'd had a chance to watch this match. Did anyone see it, or was it on an untelevised court?

He is better than Carlos one week number one Moya. At their peaks Ferrero far greater than Moya.

Lopez doesn't suck as badly as many on MTF think but nevertheless a bad result for Ferrero and someone who saw the match can hopefully tell us how this one went down.

Last year Ljubicic and this year Ferrero.

Lopez can certainly beat top players.

I think that among the numbers 1 Ferrero is better than Rios . I'm not sure about Moya , 20 titles and 500 victories are superior to 11 titles (1 GS , 2 GS Final , 4TMS , 6MM )

Ferrero's slam results are stronger than Moya's and he has more TMS titles than Moya does. Most of Moya's titles are at MM level. JCF only has 6 MM level wins and 5 above that.

Yes, and JC is four years younger than Moya.

Wouldn't be so hard on Ferrero; Lopez is always a dangerous opponent for a first round

ruff. just ruff. how in the world can someone that complete possibly lose against a guy who doesn't even have a backhand? i'll never get it. lopez is probably one of the most limited players on tour and ferrero still boasts a wide range of shots; on a normal day, he'd crush a nobody like lopez you'd think.

unbelievable.

yeah, but nonetheless: it's lopez, for crying out loud, one of the most predictable players EVER! how can ferrero not be prepared to destroy some weird journeyman like him?

Somehow knew this was going to happen. Is this the third year in a row he lost first round at the Open or did he make one second round? JCF is hopeless.

I keep telling people not to take Lopez lightly. I've always said, weak backhand aside, that he is very talented. And as of late, he seems to have Juanqui's number. He's having himself a pretty good summer. His ranking is back up to 60th (the highest it has been in almost a year), after almost free falling out of the top 100 earlier this year. All in all, he should be quite pleased. Juanqui...maybe not so much.

bad from Ferrero
he had better tournaments last time

but I thinking Lopez is not so bad like some people here always make him to be

Jimnik
08-27-2007, 09:56 PM
JCF hasn't looked motivated since the Wimby QF appearance. It wouldn't surprise me if he went on a similar run as he did this time last year.

Ferrero said he served crap, and I think the motivation thing was a huge factor too. His interview sounded like he didnt give a shit how he performed here, which is quite sad but oh well. Congrats to Lopez, he is a very dangerous player, when I first saw JC's draw I panicked so I wasn't too surprise that JC lost. The score however suggests to me that JC wasn't trying his hardest, but I didn't see the match so I'm not in a position to say. Oh well, better luck next time JC.

This is utterly ridiculous. I know Ferrero can win big tournaments again, but he needs to make it happen. Things obviously aren't working, so he must think about what needs to change.

lol this is pretty expected. JFC is a braindead guy who never tries to improve his game. the bar of tennis has raised so much that even 2007 Lopez if travels back in 2003 can become the number one in tennis :haha:

I expected strong resistance from Lopez but favoured Ferrero to win the match. I'm shocked by the scoreline.
