Well done, Ołówek! Beating another Pole in QR after such thriller makes it even more pleasant :p

It was long break at 6-7 3-2* in 2nd set, I guess med. timeout for Kubot. After 2nd set it was another 10mins break, again for him I guess, but can't be sure about it yet.
In the opening game of final set Przysiężny broke Kubot to love, then he was struggling on his serve, saved 5bps but got broken finally at bp#6. In next game he broke Kubot again (to 30 this time):D. Here came another longer break between games...Pencil was *40-15 up, but then it cames to deuce, he saved 2bps and finally held for 3-1*! No breaks till he was serving for the match at *5-4, but couldn't serve it out  Suddenly he broke back! Then another break  Tb time #2 :scared: , but he was able to win it 7-0 !!!!! So proud of You, Michał :yeah:

Good luck in 1st round, Michał :rocker2:

Michał Przysiężny is mainly known from his match against Filippo Volandri this year in Sopot, where he ruined many gamblers.

Person called "Polish Federer" maybe will face the Swiss one? ;)

Congrats Michał, however in 1st set he was serving for the set, and in the last one, he served for the match twice. Finally did the job in a TB.

If I am not mistaken this match lasted almost four hours, maybe more, including a very long total period of injury breaks between games.

yeah, great stuff ;) I also started a thread on this and would be happy if someone merged - my opinion is included :p.

At 4-4 40-40 in 1st set I went downstairs to watch "Cotton Club" and when I came back they were starting the 3rd ;).

Many points lost here for Kubot, he made the third round last year losing to Davydenko.

Przysiezny will play against Berrer in the 1st round. Good draw for the Pole.

Nice one Michał, but it's a pity Łukasz will not defend his 3R points (he could even play in 4R, but suprisingly Davydenko didn't decide to fix the match ;) )

And most of all, Przysiężny's got a pretty decent draw, with Berrer and Starace. It would be difficult of course to overcome these guys, but it's possible

Hehe. Polish "Przysi" is like German "Pschich",
"ęż" -> actually there isn't a German equivalent to these Polish letters. Polish "ż" is similar to German "j" in a word "der Journalist".
I suggest you to read his name something like "Pschichenzny" in German ;) :wavey:

I don't know but I can tell you - this is one of the most infrequent and the most difficult surname in Polish ortography :D I'm sure many Polish people could write from listening this surname with three errors: Pszysienrzny

Some extra info:
It was around 50'C yesterday
There were 2 toilet breaks and 2 medicals timeout on these long breaks (but both were not injured)
In final TB Kubot started with a df...and we know how it finished...

I supposed it will be extremely tough battle - the unofficial Polish championships in USA  Do you know something about thier previous meetings? I know they haven't played against each other in any kind of professional events.

man that surname really is ruff stuff. i got a polish surname as well (polish people came to the ruhr valley in germany in the beginning of the 20. century to work, my ancestors were among them), but kaminski's a little easier to pronounce. ;)

Pshysyenzhny would be my version of pronouncing it  Funny stuff is "advantage" in Polish is "przewaga" and poor these umpires in Sopot/Wrocław/Szczecin/Poznań who must say "Przewaga Przysiężny".

Tremendous succes for Michał - his first evar MD appearance in GS.
Kubot will lose many points, cos he was in the 3rd round last year, I guess - that's gonna be a big drop down in the rankings for Łukasz.
Przysiężny is also able to beat his first round opponent! This is a breakthrough chance for him.

Psche-schiehn-zny  that is a tough name to pronounce!
