Inter-forum USO pick 'em competition

I am helping to run another inter-forum pick 'em competition for the US Open - in the Wimbledon version, the MTF team (and MTFer invu2day, who top-scored in the first two rounds and was one of just two entrants to pick the correct winner in 100 of the 127 matches) led for ages before being undone by the last few rounds and finishing in 11th place in the teams competition. Grofica was the highest finisher of the 18 MTFers in the individual competition, finishing 6th overall, with Nadia also finishing in the top 20 - see http://www.britishtennis.net/07pickem/2007wm.htm

The USO entry form (where you just need to put a tick against the player you expect to win each match) is at http://www.xlw93.dial.pipex.com/pickemef.htm (http://www.xlw93.dial.pipex.com/pickemef.htm) - entries close at 13.00 GMT on Monday, two hours before play is due to start in the main draw.

We would be very happy to see the MTFers who took part in the Wimby version again and to welcome some new faces. :)

N.B. If you play fill-in-the-draw on here, you can enter the same picks in this inter-forum competition just by ticking some boxes, so it's well worth doing so that you can compare yourself with people from other boards too.

Qualifiers have now been placed in the draw on the entry form (http://www.xlw93.dial.pipex.com/pickemef.htm?n=1) for this contest, so you now have full information to base your entry on.

The new players in the draw include one lucky loser because Monfils has pulled out, so anyone who entered already and picked him to go more than a round or two might want to pick again if they have time (or write to btpickem@hotmail.com if they want to make a minor change because of this) - if not, they will be treated as having picked Dominik Meffert to win any matches that they picked Monfils to win, since he has slotted into Monfils' place in the draw.

The entry deadline is 13.00 GMT (2 pm UK / 15.00 CET / 09.00 New York time) on Monday.

The MTFers were excellent players last time, even if you did get a bit unlucky towards the end when the big points were up to grabs, so we'd love there to be a big MTF team again!

If you do decide to enter, good luck! :)

Thanks everyone. As at midnight GMT on Sunday, the MTF team has 27 players (see the list below), already 9 more than for the same competition during Wimbledon. This makes you the 2nd biggest team at the moment, behind AndyMurray.com but ahead of AndyRoddick.com, which had more entrants than MTF last time.

The MTF team so far, with 13 hours to go before entries close is:

albop
Alonsofz
amalyn
avocadoe
basil333
d_s
dabear

Grofica
Invu2day
Ivanatis
Jen
JM-Del-Potro
Joaco
Marksman
MC
Mount Goddess
muniu

Nadia

If anyone else wants to join in, entries close at 13.00 GMT on Monday, i.e. 2 pm UK, 15.00 CET, 09.00 New York time. Click here for the entry form (http://www.xlw93.dial.pipex.com/pickemef.htm?n=1).

You ended up as the second biggest team, with 32 players, for more than you had for the Wimbledon pick 'em, so well done. :)

As last time, you have also taken a big early lead, and congratulations to the three players in equal 1st individually, n3gative, Nadia & bjorki, who are all from MTF too!

Full day 1 results can now be found at http://www.britishtennis.net/competitions.html

These will be updated once or twice a day, with more frequent summary updates appearing on this thread at the site of the biggest team (http://andymurray.com/community/discussion/2416) when play is in progress.

Good luck for the rest of the competition! :D

One match to go and the MTF team has dropped to 10th (partly because more people on the other boards expected Nole to do well) but MTF's amalyn is the individual leader and will win if Fed wins the title.

Apologies for the belated wrap up of this competition.

Amalyn from MTF did win the individual competition, and enters the overall rankings in 73rd place after just one tournament. albop in 6th, shotgun in 8th and Björki in 19th were other MTFers to finish in the top 20.

You did also have five of the bottom 18 (i.e. those finishing outside the top 200), which probably explains why as a team you finished 9th after once again leading early on.
Top MTF player in the overall pick 'em rankings is Grofica, a top 50 finish in the USO comp resulting in a 13 place rise to 27th overall, while Björki is up 39 to 40th and there are quite a few other MTFers already in the top 100. There are now 296 ranked players in total.

Thanks again to everyone who played. For full details of results and rankings, please use the links at this page (http://www.britishtennis.net/competitions.html).
